  1. Well I've jumped onto this thread a bit late but I completely agree with what ozzie_21 has pointed out. When I first discovered this forum (only a couple of months back) I began posting questions which were inappropiate to others users of the forum and learnt quickly when I 'fired up' other members by asking stupid questions. However I do from time to time ask questions like that but as some have pointed out, the reason people (or most people) are on here is to learn, have fun and to meet other people. I spend a lot of time reading the posts that a lot of the more experienced members have put a lot of time and effort into and spend the majority of my posts into passing on that information. I don't have excessive amounts of money. I don't take out huge loans. And I don't have rich parents. I've learnt from the ground up by having a crap car while people around me have built up fast cars and enjoy the life that comes with them. Believing the stereotypical view of young 'P' plate drivers with skylines (young members), that they are all irresponsible, stupid and essentially just 'hoons' is plain stupid. You cannot say that the mature skyline drivers of SAU build there cars up to being awesomely powerful machines and then stick by the road rules and drive like a granny. Of course not! While I am not the most experienced driver on the road due to my age, I could say that I'm a much more capable driver than the majority of people my age by being a mechanic by trade and dealing with and driving cars everyday and having the right mind set to know my own capabilities. I can't wait for the day that my car finally gets onroad so I can come down and meet some of the people behind the keyboards that have helped me learn so much in the past 3 months. Even though I know you don't have to own a skyline to come down, I think I'll save myself the embarrassment of rocking up in my 86' Ford Laser Ghia :bahaha:
  2. Its interesting to see that more than 3/4's of people so far have had stuff stolen. I thought it was an issue with the minority of cars but it seems to be a fairly large issue.

    wow

    Looks......... Expensive......
  4. My dad has recently started up his own small business called "Datadot Home and Business" . As some of you may already know, datadots are also used to coat the majority of parts in a lot of the new vehicles such as the FPV range and also the HSV range (lift up the bonnet and it has the identification plate there in front of you) to prevent them from being stolen, taken to pieces and then the parts sold individually. Basically the way they work is that the vin number of the vehicle is edged into these dots which are about the same size as the eye in this smily - . When applied they are stuck down with a clear, heat resistant glue (which is basically impossible to remove) which also contains a UV trace. When placed under a microscope it reveals the vin number of the vehicle. At the moment my dads business has moved and focused in on the building industry targeting big firms such as "MTA" and "Multiplex". These businesses have a tremendous amount of theft from building sites, with the theft of things such as hot water systems etc. In a recent test one of the local home building companies took upon a trial period of marking datadots on some of there sites. At the end of the trial period a survey was shown that theft had dramatically dropped in the marked sites and had actually risen in the unmarked building sites, shown that marking property actually detered thieves. A police bust was carried out a couple of months ago where they raided a warehouse full of stolen goods. But because none of the property could be identified, nothing could be returned to there rightful owners. After working closely with cash convertors (an easy offload for thieves) it is now manditory to run a UV light over all property being sold. Anyway moving along, I have been wondering for a while whether this sort of technology would work well on marking property in vehicles. With the ability to mark things such as rims, decks, spoilers, turbos, intercoolers etc. etc. without the hassle and destructive effect that engraving does to property it may be a good idea to protect against and deter thieves in a similar and additional way an alarm system works. At a relatively low price for the starting kits at $99 which has 1000 dots included, gives almost enough dots to completely cover most items in a car. With the choice of having your choice of identification edged in the dots (normally just a drivers license number) it seems like a pretty cool idea. Just wondering what other peoples thoughts would be on this matter. Btw this is in no way beneficial to myself, I've just heard so many stories of people having things stolen on this forum and I'm just out try and give people a edge in the fight against crime and to see what other people think
  5. Went down on sunday with a good pair of binoculars. Saw a lot of cars easily as well as my own. Cars i saw were. A white cefiro, Gun metal grey GTR, white coupe R32 GTS-T, A red R33, 4 door grey R32 and my white 4 door R32 GTS-T. Saw a couple of other GTR's but can't remember the exact colours. Can't wait!
  6. To anyone who has imported a car.. How long does it take to have a car cleared through customs?
  7. Just have a search around and you'll find a good deal. It may be better to do an australia wide search and have it delivered to your front doorstep
  8. Hey, I'm at the moment trying to decide the best way about installing my old playstation 2 in my car. Because I'm not the most brainiest when it comes to in car audio and installations I thought I would see what opinons I could get. Basically I have already sorted out the power pack issue and have enough wire to run the red, yellow and white playstation inputs. What would be the best sort of screen I could buy to use? Does it need a deck to sit in? And would it have the red, yellow and white inputs? Also would it be easy to hook it up to the incar speakers with the ability to switch back to the original deck to play the radio and CD's when I feel like it? All comments would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
  9. You do realise that all fuel comes from the one supplier and refinery - BP. They then process and refine it and sell it in two different barrels being - unleaded and premium unleaded. Once sold to all the other companies they then go about adding all there own additives and cleaning agents (probably why you notice differences in why some have higher sulfur content than others) But essentially they all still have the same octane rating as premium unleaded not the 98 RON which they try to advertise with. (I'm not sure but they may add octane boosters to there fuel maybe?) The reason for the high prices of oil is one reason why fuel is becoming so expensive. Another is that there is no competition amongst other refineries and BP can raise the prices of there barrels of fuel to what ever they like to make as much profit as possible. Thats what I have been told anyway, it's like that over in Perth but may be different elsewhere.
  10. I'm sure there is some sort of drain plug on the bottom of the GTR radiator that should be exposed without having to take anything apart (thats the whole design of having an easy to get plug at the bottom of the radiator). It's all about just removing the radiator cap, drain the coolant from the radiator and system, once empty fill the system up with distilled water, run it for about 5 minutes (to get all the coolant in the block out that wouldnt have come out by just draining the coolant), drain that then fill up with new coolant. Please remember that air pockets do occur in the cooling system after flushing it. So just run it for a while then top it up and done! However I have never worked on a GTR before so I'm not completely 100%. Thats just a simple process that I use on all cars that I work on. Cheers, Scott
  11. Bought my car in November from Prestige destined for Fremantle Port. Arrived yesterday and waiting for it to clear through customs. I don't think any level of harassing will get your car in quicker. I believe it's all in chronological order from when you bought it. Remember the shipping is pre-paid the day you buy it.
  12. Just been down to see the Bravo Ace car carrier. Much MUCH bigger than what I thought it was going to be. Went to those two places where jonn suggested. Still couldn't see anything, the only thing I saw was thousands of Hyndai's. Couldn't see any old used imports at all
  13. Ok. I got a list that was sent to me via email from my supplier that said 9 cars made it onto this ship. I'm guessing that, that was only from the cars purchased under him. I'm going down right now to have a look at the cars that are arriving.
  14. Well basically it means I don't have the drivetrain of the GTR but I guess it has 4 doors. How many people are you thinking about squeezing in the car? It is a pretty small car. First off I need to get it off the ship which just arrived in fremantle today and get it registered. Lol. I'll get back to you closer to the date
  15. I'll consider the S-AFC. Please send a PM . Please send pictures if you have to [email protected].
  16. A quick stupid question. I'm guessing that trust turbos '06' stands for the larger turbo housing. Is the -25g the size of the compressor wheel? Just wondering
  17. You seriously saw that bloke push a kid off a bike and procedded to kick him? Serioulsy what brings people to go and do these sort of things. Thats completely barbaric and just not right. If I saw that happening I would have procedded to beating the absolute F*** out of him. However I wasn't there so I can't comprehend to what the situation was. Picking on a kid.... what a complete F***tard. Pick on someone your own size you tosser. Sorry I just get so angry easily over these sorts of things.

    music

I'm with Ozzie_21. I like punk/rock (old skool and new). Good Charlotte, Living End, Grinspoon, Green Day, Goldfinger, Blink 182, Offspring, System of a down and all the other like. I prefer not to listen to R&B and rap but some of it (only some) is OK. Don't like computerised music (except Prodigy) and Heavy Metal ie. Slipknot (wtf are they screaming about half the time? Lol). You won't catch me listening to Groove 101.7 and radio stations like that. Also I prefer listening to live bands than DJ's. Thats my opinon though
  19. Just for interest I believe this MX-5 would kill most cars in a straight line. Imagine this..... if this pulled up next to you only to roar away with the power of a....... V8 http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/au/st...asp?StockID=902 Really cool!
  20. Yes but a lot of people which didn't have any damage done or anything taken probably would not have posted. I'm just curious about the percentage of people which have had stuff stolen and/or taken in the past. It just seems that more than half of the people here who have imported have had stuff taken.
  21. Just curious, seems like a lot of people have stuff stolen by the wharfy thieves or have had damage done to the vehicle during transit. How many of you actually have had damage done/ stuff taken when you imported your car? My car arrives soon and I'm worried about the odds of stuff being taken/damaged.
  22. Mines on there as well. Mwhaha the only R32 GTS-T on there as well. From what I can see made onto this shipment is a R32 GTS-T (mine), three R32 GTR's, A cefiro, An MR2 turbo, RS Legacy and a 300ZX. I think thats all of them.
