    Skidpan Day

aaahhh the pain ... moving on that weekend, but I am going to make sure I can be there ...might delay repairs to my car ... Bottom line: two people, two cars very interested
  2. awesome .... did you get this size at a normal hardware store ... been looking at BigW etc.. seem to have upto 64 mm (around 2.5 inch)
  3. thanks for the lead Blitz I searched under MIC33R and found the photo site, only three photos, is this right ? Have PMed him as well... Any suggestions on what size holesaw I should use, the piping is simlair to standard around 2.5 inch
  4. I am installing 600x300x60 FMIC kit onto my series 1 R33 GTS25t this weekend. (includes piping, silicon joiners, brackets) I have non-factory front bar that should have enough space without trimming. This is the first time, I will have done this so I am after any tips, photos, how to pages, or problems that anyone has who has done this themselves... Particularly what size hole saw, I am not sure whether to make it a tight fit or leave around 1 cm clearance. (I did do a search but didn't find what I was after) thanks
  5. Yes there is .... constant wheel spin ..... in 3rd and 4th gear not sure if you would want to do a mad Mt run during a heavly policed easter ... criuse sounds good though :burnout:
  6. Alchemist :singer:
  7. Looks like I have some wheels .... Moderators: please close the thread, thanks
  8. Anyone sick of their current rims and want to send them to a good home Wanted: Non Chrome 18 inch Rims to suit R33 GTS25t (don't mind the black/dark chrome but not the shiny stuff) width max 235s around 7-8 would prefer Brisbane/Southeast Queensland pick up :burnout:
  9. GTS-t VSPEC: Do you think removing the VVT is worth the extra 10-15 kw for a car making around 190-200 kw @ the wheels?
  10. Both a great cars I really enjoyed my series 5, its generally a bit cheaper to get more power out off, handles awesome, a lot of Australian mods out there .... My brother is running 317hp at the wheels at 16 psi, thrashes it most of the time and has yet to lose a quick fang The only downside I see is fuel consumption ... once these are even slighty worked they seem to use more fuel then a modified R33 .... (harder to fit a FMIC as well) go some thing different !
  11. meggala thats awesome information on your site ... Thanks
  12. thanks for that .....
  13. The forum search function has beeen disabled at the moment ... whats the standard injector size for a R33 Gts-25t? Ignoring fule supply and mangement, whats the maxium power they can support ? thanks
  14. Could be up for it... depends on a pre planned Byron trip.... rain would make things very interesting... anyone find a empty carpark/windy deserted road on the weekend?
  15. INASNT the carbon canister is at the front left, the black cylinder with mutliple pipes ? running full exhaust, pod, bleed valve ... getting fuel smell (espically passenger side) when thrashed, more then I think is ok ... anyone replaced their carbon canister ? did you get it and how much ?
  16. Keeping an eye out for a FMIC ,this caught my eye UAS Type X, R33 GTS-T intercooler, Dimensions are450x250x80mm. This kit is supplied with alloy piping, polished intercooler , all hose and clamps needed. The kit requires the front bar to be cut to fit the cooler and we recommend that you use a block plane to file finish the bar for the best result in fit up. $1495 kit Anyone fitted one of these and would recommend it? I am running a bleed valve, 0.8 bar, pod and hks full exhaust ... I would like achieve around 300kw at the wheels oneday, thru stuff like power FC, larger gt turbo, larger injectors etc...
  17. Nizmokid: I was a bit confused about this as well .... here is an Autospeed article "Testing We unplugged the standard Nissan RB26DET ECU and plugged in the Power FC. Unfortunately, the car wouldn't then start - not quite what we had expected. We returned the ECU to JAP Trading, who sent it back slightly re-programmed. The car then started without problems, but we soon learnt what the original problem had been anyway - while playing with the controls, we recreated the problem. If the Power FC is set to work with an APEXi boost controller - but one isn't actually fitted - the engine will constantly stall, or not even start. Mmmm! With the ECU set to 'non boost control' status, the engine started and ran sweetly, using the maps already programmed into the Power FC. " you can check out the article here http://www.autospeed.com/A_0301/cms/article.html
  18. Just for comparison I am running 0.8 bar/about 12 psi stock intercooler, bleeder, stock turbo and full 3 inch exhaust with a air pod sucking in hot air (Brisbane).... No problems with pinging/spiking as far as I can tell ..... freak mobile or the boost gauge/turbo timer is plumbed into the wrong VAC hose?
  19. Roy: agree, Police are there to do a job. katohadamoto007: agree, police are people and you will have dicks as well. The current system is crap. Enforcement will only do so much, a lot of people can still not drive (including performance car owners) whether they have been busted or not .... A while ago my dad died as a passenger in a VL turbo. It was a single vehicle accident, young driver who previously had shit loads of fines, loss of licence etc ... I wish someone had taught to him how to take a corner properly instead of just thumping him with legislation. Consequently the driver's life and ours were a mess for a while... not to mention the drain on insurrance, legal stuff, etc We need mandatory driver training, including at least one ride in traffic on a motorcycle to get people to look and the remove the illusion of safety "it won't happen to me" provides. We should also a yearly/2 yearly mandatory refresher course. my $2 (potential war has caused price inflation) anyway
  20. also found one thrashed jack with no handle, an ultra light spare tyre and tyre brace (read none) and a dirty Nike hat... the spare BOV has a couple of scratches on the face plate, but I might get keen with some fine sand paper ..... Does the BOV have rubber grommet as a seal or is it a flush metal disk (the spring loaded part)....
  21. Jay95R33 thanks for the great post ... I found a spare factory BOV in the depths of my boot ... have also just found the HKS turbo timer measures boostD :D , just need to connect it ... over the weekend I will try both BOV's (unmod &mod)and if I have any interesting figures I'll post it
  22. Good stuff It was awesome to see the parade of tail lights down Milton road. Mt Cootha was great fun, I came up the back way, reminds me of Twmba in the winter with the fog. Good to finally have some oxygen rich air again I was designated as the taxi driver so headed off after Maccas on Milton. Went to Dysons Dyno day at the G Coast yesterdsay. Shit loads of Skylines! My bros RX7 posted 317 hp, very happy with that....
  23. agreed simonh .... I have gone through them a couple of times, they are good, they will do the job well at $69/hour... no bullshiting around just check out the cars they work on at their workshop I don't think they have a web site
  24. I agree .... Once we locally start producing/importing decent cars that are realistically priced ... we will buy them .... The new XR6 is probably getting a little closer but even if you had the money to buy one you would void the warranty once you start modifying properly. Cars in the States and New Zealand even after the exchange rate tend to be cheaper! Imports do have different compliance standards in different countries . But I hope that wouldn't stop the import car scene all together. If the Power FC is a straight plug and play system, you could always plug the standard ECU back in and run standard boost if you are due for your emissions test. Don't know how a different turbo or fuel delivery system would affect the ECU… The important question is down track can Skylines Australia and other related interests groups present a united front with the import/performance industry if more stringent legislation is placed on the modified car scene. Legislation is there for a reason, I think its great if we can have better performing safe cars which may not only meet the emission standards but exceed them (some of the tuners out there are great but some are pretty average ie max power, crap mid range and fuel consumption and only mapping a couple of points) … What frustrates me are seemingly pointless rules such as no pods because they may effect the emissions or it is not a standard ECU even though the emissions may past the standards …
  25. Regulations for cars will get tighter ; the import regulations for better or worse are an example of this…. Owning a ‘legal’ modified car will take some careful planning with mods…. I could not get over the fact an air pod is a defect ….. How many imports do you see with the standard air box. Queensland still only requires a roadworthy on a transfer of registration. A yearly road worthy will probably be brought in at some stage like NSW & VIC (?) Mandatory emissions testing could become part of a yearly road worthy. Random emissions testing would be a great way of getting a modified car off the road. Japan does have high emission standards but Australia may actually focus on different pollutants and different levels. I read about an import company have a lot problems complying some of the RX7 series 6, 7,8 because (I think) in standard form they did not meet Australian standards. (The current emissions testing is also biased towards piston engines) Meggala What’s the go with the power FC does it piggy back onto the standard ECU? Or is it a true plug in system…. I have always thought it was a plug in …. The Power FC would be a great option but wouldn’t it fail, as it is not the standard ECU? Sorry about the doom and gloom post, I am not that negative really! I just don’t want modified car/performance car owners to stick their heads in the sand and get caught out big time …. Kind of like the new import regs and its attitude to modified cars ….. We need to be on the ball and keep on eye on what our ‘best interests’ are according to the bureaucrats, politicians and the domestic car industry … and like some motorcyclists organise (ie the mandatory headlights on campaign) some action when its needed…. And maybe not pull off the most awesome drift up some crowded café street with a screamer pipe and no Cat …. I know it its tempting ! :burnout:
