Is the rear end still straight Martin? ... Doesn't look it in the pics, though the camera lens could be causing that ...

Has this sold yet or still available ... Do you know what car it came out of, S1, S2 Stag, R33 or 34? Cheers, Andrew -

Hey Dave, didn't you hit more than 1 box cone and didn't you stop outside the box during your winning battle

F1 GTR would be my pick of the maccas lot; Is like the Quarter Pounder (All meat and Protein) to the Roady F1s Big Mac (not quite man enough, leaves you wanting more) and the McFeast of the Long Tail (too much and only shows its advantages for short times) How about a Dauer 962

Poppy Cock!!! Just cause you don't know what's being developed doesn't mean it's not there ... I wouldn't be surprised if there's quite a bit of diff/engine/suspension control stuff going on outside of the rules, though material development for the engines/brakes/etc is forever going on as they keep being made to last longer and longer, which is ghey! There's a reason why old f1 cars are effectively mothballed for a couple of years before they get let out in public for general consumption, to keep the ideas and plans they have at least a partial secret, but as we all see F1 teams employ smart/crafty peoples so things generally get found out sooner than later. The Primary finger should be pointed at the FIA trying to 'reduce visible costs' for parity supposedly. It just means the same amount of money gets spent on 'less visible' parts or development centres for the continued testing/development of the cars.

And people wonder why others talk of special tyres rumours around the pits on the weekend I like the tyre & compound limitation idea in Open & Clubsprint. Would help keep the field closer as well as help differentiate the Pro times/budgets to those in Open. Clubsprint limit to only 6 tyres (can replace a non planned tyre if it's damaged or unsafe for continued use at scrutineers discretion), would be similar to what's meant to happen in Targa (correct me if I'm wrong Savman/Marlin).

If a tyre is DOT certified doesn't that make it road legal somewhere in the world; thus a semi? (serious question not a sacastic remark) If you're going to the extremes of saying that even they're if DOT approved it's not a 'true' semi, I would raise what is the point of these ultra ultra soft 1 lap qualifying wonder tyres, except as a supplier you're going to get more people buying more of them to be competitive ... /sarcasm Point is that the big boys are most likely going to have some sponsorship with tyres so the relevance is lost in out-right times. It's more so in the Open Class, where by 'joe citizen' is likely to gain better times with more track lapping (especially the Interstaters without local track knowledge) with a DOT R6 or Z214 as they are a more consistent tyre which are more readily available in the different sizes required by non off the shelf circuit sprint cars. This is compared to the way it currently is with he/she who has the most money to throw new uber tyres at their car each session (on top of their car build) will more than likely go quicker, just by virtue of always having better grip. Maybe another Class between Open/Club would be good with the driver limitations of Clubsprint, to help separate the larger budgets of the "Pro Class" Open Teams with the backyarders that want to run non-road tyres. The separation of Workshop Class from the Privateers in their own cars could be just in the Classification of the Results, ie still running them in the same manner, just that the abilities of those punching above their weight would be very clear and would encourage more people to look at Open Privateer. Likewise push more of the "Open Workshop" Teams into Pro and run more Pro Grouped Sessions with less time, as currently they are not utilising all the time they currently have available. The organisers have a year to make their decisions on next year (which I'm sure they'll be doing) and they have to make decisions that are best for the event and their sponsors, which is critical for the event to run rather than getting person X or Y to compete.

I didn't attempt to use the live timing on my phone on friday, but it was working on Saturday, so it certainly wouldn't be hard to have a couple of super screens attached to the live feed via some form of computer and have them broadcasting to the masses. Might I suggest that EC invest in a ex line painting truck which they use to drop the sand. Will be a shit load quicker than having 20 peeps running around with buckets of the stuff, and means they can all be maning brooms to speed up the clean up. If they're going to do split times next year (which was said over the PA on one of the days), they're obviously going to be using different transponders or going more fancy, which I must say would be most excellent. I certainly concur on the dodgy audio sentiment. We found a nice spot on the front straight where the speakers weren't working and it was sweet as listening to everything hard on the throttle bar that K26 CRX (which made more noise off throttle than on it!) and not having to listen to the drivel that was sometimes being pumped out was a godsend. Maybe a clearer explanation of the rules/classes would be better at the start of the day in the dead time between sessions would be better than mindless banter, with more crosses to the entirity of drivers/competitors rather than visiting person X or person Y over and over. Such that everyone has an opportunity to be heard, rather than just the blokes the guys in the commentary box are all excited listening too. I know some people probably wouldn't want to do it, but I know that some drivers would be rather amusing to listen too If it's a step up from last year, lets hope the organisers can repeat it for next and hopefully with greater success you don't attract the spectators that will ruin the open-ness of the event. Also, why no acceptance of Hoosiers and Avons? Why run what are effectively 'racing cars' on grooved wet style tyres? Hankooks C71 is a grooved semi that's still DOT approved, just like the Hoosier R6, that I'm sure would be quicker and last longer than the uber soft tyres competitors are now running around on.

Congrats on the times Russ, 1:42.4380, nothing to sneeze at given the company you're keeping in the timing list and the significant budget differences

Congratulations to the entire Mercury Motorsports Team on an awesome debute of the car As me and my road tripping buddies stubbled into Maccas eary friday morning to be greeted by (the entire?) Team MM happily devouring their food ready for the day ahead, 2nd wind (or as I heard multiple times from Sydney peoples, petrol boner, strange lot these Sydney kids) kicked in knowing that thursday obviously went well for the team. Was great seeing how much interest you guys were generating no matter where within the complex the car was, especially when there were so many interesting other cars to look at. The distinct sound & somewhat more reserved presence of the 35s compared to the majority of the Pro class made them a nice change to it's contemporaries. Glad you guys achieved your goals of a sub 1:35 laptime and hopefully Mark you can encourage more of your colleages/competitors to get into motor racing; Team QML/Sonic/Healthscope/Dorevitch/etc; none are exactly short of cash and could do with extra exposure

wow ... Seems like next year the only 'logical' step in regards to aero development is to have wings that are mounted in an unsprung manner, chassis with sliding skirts and rear mounted radiators with large 'cooling' fans .... Then we'll having dual chassis and active suspension designs all on semi slick tyres

Seems like you did okay at winton today Russ, you feeling better prepared for Super Lap now?

I hate you so much right now Troy!! -
Can you run the larger rear endplates without the 2nd wing element Mark, or do they serve little purpose when only running the single element? Were you getting that much rear downforce that you were inducing understeer, have you considered running DRS with your Aeromotive wing controls

Indeed, we have them all driving around playing follow a German (we've been here before if memory serves me correct). And wasn't it so good watching all the cars racing last weekend, ohh sooooo exciting watching 24 cars go round and round and round ... Wasn't the Track Owners Group having a Whinge about the whole V6 thing, meh, they all bend over for Bernie so who can really take then seriously
-
Yeah right you're looking at blowing the 'other Jordan' pics Mr Brisby, we're onto you Sooo, 26 years later, we're going back to 100ml larger V6's, with a reduced rev limit and better materials, what a technological break-through this will be ...
