  1. Crappy ones that came with the car Supercats I think, not exactly grippy, but meh, good enough to roll around on and I wasn't there to break records. Car is VERY safe to drive on the limit, but with more grip and more roll stiffness I reakon I could get it down to maybe a 1:45, shift kit and LARGE transmission cooler with water spray might also be necessary, so not gonna happen .... yet
  2. Took the Daily to Winton instead of the usual Track car, did a 1:48.5440 which was great fun, though it drinks like Fatz when being punted hard
  3. When you see someone breaking out CFD plots in build, you KNOW they're nuts Love the development & the speed at which this project is churning forward. I hope your going to do a drive day for your fellow staff mates at Q-Scan, would be awesome watching their faces as you take em for a lap
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PORwExZ7OKI Get in quick
  5. No worries Wayne
  6. Happy to be a finisher anywhere in the morning.
  7. I'm running 17x9 +19 all around Matt, the fronts are slightly tucked, but the rears are flush with 235s & no guard rolling, though this is on an auto S1.
  8. Yet you continue to suggest spectators who will have even less clue on what's going ... You sure you're not a Politician KezR33, you're making about as much sense as one atm
  9. Yeah, that makes sense, get the people that drivers invited to come up and share in the experience of the day with them to stand around by themselves or with strangers to assist run a Club Day when there's how many SAU-Vic members & or drivers standing around during the day?? /sarcasm Having just run another clubs 1st DECA Day; which was closely modelled on a SAU Day, Driver-Helpers are only suited to 4 key positions; Starter & Finish Box Controllers @ Long Wang & the Skid Pan in the morning sessions. There is just too much turn over time if you try using them in any other position. Additionally, without proper instruction noobie volunteers can slow things down enough in other positions that you might have to cut events. In the arvo sessions, a 'rotating roster' could/should be employed to make sure ALL drivers particpate in the running the day, drivers who don't assist during the day, could then have time penalties handed to them as a sign of 'un-sportsman like' behaviour. I know what it takes to run a good DECA day and while the SAU Motorsport Team have pretty much all the days processes/tasks nailed down to a tee, there needs to be a step up in involvement/execution by other non-competing SAU members as well as other event participants to fill the few gaps that remain, rather than first drawing upon guests/possible future participants.
  10. I'm pretty sure it's in reference to a certain RED Supra that 'just' beat Martin last weekend at another DECA event
  11. there's a cure for understeer; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyyFi4puQ7s RS2 Kills 2 birds with one stone, Porsche + Audi ownership as well
  12. If they ever released an RS5 Avant, maddest panel van for sure Wouldn't mind an old RS2 either ... sigh
  13. Should be able to recognise the car, but first round of mods by me;
  14. That's what I like to hear, sweet, thanks!
  15. Haha I remember u Matt, who can forget the Smokey beast! 31 is for track driving fun, gotta keep the Angry man honest Will pull the rear trims off and see, cheers man.
  16. Hi Guys, I've just picked up a reasonably clean 97 S1 Stag, and while I've done countless searchs, I can't seem to find any info on removing the rear C Pillar Covers. Can anyone confirm if they just clip in or are they a bolt on item? The paint has faded a bit on my ones so I'd prefer to take them off the car to paint them rather than painting them in situ, but from the feel of them it would appear they just unclip? Any suggestions from those that may have removed them in the past would be great, I REALLY don't want to break them!! Cheers, MacGillaZ
  17. Great Day everybody, not too much carnage and hopefully lots of PBs for people
  18. From digging around with the Software today and trying to get it to process data taken from my Q1300, no deal. ATM Qstarz is only allowing it to grab data from the Q1000XT, which is uber ghey! I'll be sticking with the free/cheap alternative of a 5hz BT receiver + an old Nokia and run Race Chrono on it. Several benefits include, easier access to exporting your data to an avi format; allowing you to do fancy overlays on your vids, way more than 8mb of data storage and instant review of the data inside the car rather than having to lug around a lappy to review your info. Until RC goes Android and has lots of money channelling into it, the best 'tight-arse' solution is ye old trust worthy RC1.4
  19. Unit has Bluetooth which would means you could run Race-Chrono or a program of that ilk to give you your istantaneous live timings of sectors and laps ie green or red, then go back and analyise your data with the included software. I've been using the BT1300S and it works rather well, but the additional software for now available, I think will make it even better/useful.
  20. I don't think that's true, in much the same way that you have a co-pilot in jet sprints, they're only there if you NEED the direction assistance and the directions they give you need to make sense at first call Only issue is when the Navvy 2nd guesses themselves and is being relied on
  21. Not quite silver Russ Biggest Off was this; poor lady, must have been stuck a while beside the road as I left quite a bit after you Anth. 2 courses was good, but I would prefer equal runs if doing so. Running everyone sequentially would be quicker, less stoppage time & if you miss your 'spot' you have to wait till the end of the sequence ... Consequences make people more alert from my observations. I think the figure 8 track is probably 'safer' as there really is only the blind crest into the tight chicane after the change over that does surprise you (plus there are walls quite close there), as compared to the off camber turn 3 & then into 5 (OS) if you're carrying lots of speed. Figure 8 seemingly flows better and would allow those with more power/traction/ballz a greater advantage as you can utilise it more than the straight Clockwise traverse as well. 22. Was a good day, much better weather than the last 2 times I've been down there (same day as DVSJET & AC1200) I even got sunburnt Track seemed as slippery in the early runs as when it was sopping wet the last time i was there, but it did improve, before peeps started bringing dirt onto the track Still was running with a 5500 limiter on the 20 so had to grab 3rd on the downhill into the 3rd corner and just before oh sh1t, thus meant if I tried to drive deep I always overshot the turn in point, thus screwing up the next 3 corners, stupidity sigh! With a Kaaz replacing the locked diff, it made the arena section a lot easier, without the car constantly pushing wide and then sliding everywhere; easier to go faster but less fun and spectator entertainment Figure 8 was heaps good, although I almost drove back up the hill on the first lap & I didn't like the plastic barriers they had sitting around, numerous bollards would be preferential to a big plastic block!! Fastest normal time was 66.22 (only 0.5 faster than last time unforetunately) Fastest figure 8 was 75.33 (had a BIG moment into the chicane b4 Oh Sh1t on 2nd run) Some Pics me and a mate snapped during the day; All pics from the day can be found here
  23. When CSA were down there last time, the 2nd car was released once the first car had passed the timing mark on the back straight, ran quite well until someone went off the track ... Sif not being fun in the wet, meant us little tackers (sub 150kw) could easily compete with the big boys (+250kw)
  24. Awaiting Confirmation & Update on my entry
