  1. I use the bogard timer, doesnt self sense cool down time, but intergrates nicely with any alarm.
  2. Del Sol: I hardly call that sexiest, compared to the bashing and stereo-typing of 4wd owners as the root of all evil. I took great offence to the way this thread has changed from women drivers in car parks to now encompass all 4wd owners. C'mon, we wear this everyday owning imports, surely you understand what it is like to be singled out and attacked twice over? Pentae: Your points are interesting, statistics can be manipulated to suit any arguement. Apparently 99.28% of all stats are made up on the spot...... Secondly, I can't recall the last time I used petrol or diesel in my 'cruiser, given the LP gas conversion, theres just no need. As for the minority giving the rest of 4wd owners a bad name....doesn' t this sound familiar? The few that get hold of mum's Excel or think street racing is go that give the rest of us youngish/import/modified drivers a poor name???? To my way of thinking this whole thread is like the kettle calling the pot black.
  3. Hmmmmmmm, while i didnt bother to read this complete thread, mainly because of the offence i felt, you ppl seem to have missed the point of 4wd's. I own a Landcruiser, and like it or not, it gets driven daily and yes, i use it in traffic, car parks and even in resenditial roads etc etc etc. However, it also gets used for work, to cart the dog around, tow the race car every month, tow the camper trailer when my partner and I go camping and lets me see more of this great country. So, while you narrow minded fools rave on about how bad 4wd owners are, just remember a majority of us use them as intended, a true work horse. That said, MOST (read this carefully kiddies), I said MOST, not all, woman can't drive...full stop. Even fewer understand the mechanics involved in driving a 4wd and understanding the extra responisiblity of sight, braking, cornering and making allowances for a 2.5 tonne piece of metal. So remember when you seek open mindedness for your import choice, it works both ways. Give respect for ppl's choices and you will recieve it back for your own. And while I think about it, leave the city limits, do a road trip to Longreach, 1770, Agnes Waters, anywhere north, west, east or south and start to understand why ppl own 4wds. Our government cant be bothered building decent rural roads, roads that most sedans fall apart on, and ones I am reluctant to drive my R33 on as well. Then you'll understand why.
  4. I havent used Jim yet, a lot of the guys I race with on weekends at Qld Raceway have had Jim build clutches for them, and they cannot speak highly enough of his service and expertise. I won't hesitate to send my 33 there when a new clutch is needed. Just my $0.02 worth.....
  5. I've said it before, I'll say it again, Repsol Full Synthetic. Used to use Penrite, but went away from it as a result of how quickly it burnt and went black, even in a N/A 351 Cleveland.
  6. Not surprising really. Given his contract committments with Ford Racing, he may not have had much choice in the matter. And lets face it, if he wins again this season, thats 3 in a row, not really much left to prove once you do that. Even if he goes for a season or 3, its not like he won't be able to get a drive with a V8 team again.....And remember how big Nascar is in the USA, he'll do alright.
  7. Unless you are into drag only work and are pumping extreme horsepower, I cannot understand why you would want a button clutch. They are without doubt the most horrible, god awful invention allowed into and EVERYDAY STREET DRIVEN car. Just my $.02c worth
  8. I pay $558 a year with Unique Car Insurance. These guys are underwritten by Lloyds of London, yes, that Lloyds! Full comp, agreed upon value, no restriction to modifications providing it is legal in my state or is certified. Great to deal with, actual ppl down there have a love for cars and motor racing.... a rare attitude these days. I am a rating One and g/f is rating two. Was with Shannons with a previous car, but after it was stolen, and their attitude to people with a legit claim I pulled my 'sponsorship' from them. Never, ever, ever will I go back to Shannons.
  9. Hmmm I glad I'm not the one that is shelling out for your gearbox repairs...unless you all have dog boxes fitted.......
  10. i'd suggest searching for a seller of Repsol oils, especially the full synthetic. I've found over the last 4 years this to be the very best oil I have used.(currently have 500hp 351 cleveland and 1UZFE equipped Landcruiser using it) I used to be a Penrite fan, but have changed my tune. If you ever get the chance, look at 50 bottles of oil from Penrite, note the differing colour of the oil inside, then look at 50 bottle of Repsol, same colour, always. REason for change from Penrite was the number of manufacturers that specify Repsol as standard oil. Mercedes trucks, Volvo, Audi. Also the high detergent factor and how clean the oil comes out looking even after 5000klms. The synthetic Repsol isnt cheap, about $55 for five litres but doesnt break down and go the horrible black colour. I noticed that when you you sniffed the Penrite it had a very strong burnt smell to it. Next step on all 3 cars will be an oil analysis from the Castrol labs to look at metal contents etc etc.
  11. Eugene, I think you'll find there are much better tyres out there for the money then the yokohamas. Have a shop around and try and get your butt in a few 'lines that have something similiar fitted. I use Federal's for everyday stuff and Dunlop semi slick track days tyres......both very nice to drive with.
  12. Hmmmmm anyone interested in starting a Modified Car party to run against lil Johnny next election????? Its well and truly past time to stand up and set them straight, otherwise we will be forced out of cars.......not a thought I enjoy
  13. BMan, just do it......the coast is growing, steadily, reflected in housing prices and conditions and the increasing pay packet. Given that the coast is structured to support the retired age group, you'll find a concentration of services designed to supprot. Ladies, tend to be snobbish, ticket on themselves...at least down around mooloolaba way, sorry to whoever I offend, buts thats the cold hard truth! lol The regional plan calls for light manufacturing type industry south to Caloundra and heavy industry from Caloundra to Pine Rivers/start of Brisbane. New/young home buyers are being pushed further west from Brisbane, heading out towards Ipswich/toowoomba way. As for entertainment, I reckon you make your own fun, regardless of the places around. As pointed out, its only an hour or two for a run to Brisbane or the Goldy if you forget why you moved to the Sunny coast....... cheers
  14. A 1984 XE ESP Falcon to which i added a 383 fuel injected cleveland, 5sp tremec and hydratrak rear end. Koni's all round, bigger brakes, stereo etc etc. Grrr I miss it, yes, it was stolen.......
  15. I've rebused three cars now using the Noltec range (blue) poly bushes. Seem to be a good compromise between hard nolathane and rubber. Noltec is half way in between. Slightly more road noise transmitted, but the increase in accuracy for handling makes it worth while
  16. Have you tried looking at PWR's Water/Air Barrell Cooler? Good value for money, no long pipe work for throttle lag, compared to FMI. Also effecient cooling even at low road speeds...... and best of all, nothing out the front to get damaged.
  17. Have you thought about the Paintless dent removal guys....most of the guys that do this are very skillfull and much better/quicker then a full respray, avoids problems later on if you get stuck with a dodgy panel shop...... just my $0.02 worth.....
  18. Well, for any of you who get up the Sunny Coast way, I've got a silver 33 with number plate ooJ _ _. Dont be scared, I dont bite, much.......
  19. Looks pretty tidy for the money, how many klms?
  20. Hi all, anyone from Sunny Coast going down and want to meet up? Newbe here......
