  1. That was awesome, now only if my car had that oomph.... Ferrari F50 see ya....... F40 bye....... that would make my day, 50K versus 1M+
  2. I'll give my car a clean and come along, havnt been for a drive for a month or so; and been wanting to see the new 007. Are you coming to see the movie too Wayne, or just the meet and greet?
  3. Id go the +17 option. It will sit 0mm closer to the strut (standard inner clearance) and extend 26mm on the outside The +12 will sit 5mm further away from the strut on the inside, and will sit 31mm further toward the guards. The whole wheel will be further out from the strut, plus the extra 1" rim width. The +12 may give you scrub problems depending on how low or depend on the camber of your suspension setup. I have 18x10 +18 Work wheels with Tein coilovers and have never had any dramas with clearance etc. Hope this helps... By the way GT-C's will look awesome
  4. Rig up another sensor and gauge to get an independant reading. Can get one of those sandwich plates to go on the oil filter adapter, borrow/buy a gauge and get a fresh reading. Good luck mate, hope its nothing too serious.
  5. With standard boost and Yoko AVS V102 i find 6500 is the optimum launching point. Car has a twin plate clutch of some description, never seen it to know what it is, but you sure can hear it!
  6. Looks like an R32 GTR speedo from that pic there, on the R33 speedo (avail as cluster only) the fuel gauge covers part of it and 0kmh is at the 9 o'clock position.
  7. Ive got 18x10 with 265/35/18 and they taper in from the rim edge. Plenty of clearance to the guard. With extra height in the 19s and possibly lower ride height you'd get close to scrubbing, but might be able to get away it. Good luck
  8. The tensioner cost me about $80 from memory, that was trade though. I didnt get the belt from Nissan, i bought an HKS belt when i bought my adjustable timing gears a little while back.
  9. Thanks for that Deren So for future reference, RB26 use 13074-58S00 idler which should = NSK 56TB 2801 B01 $250 vs $50 mmm...... let me think about it......
  10. So your saying RB26 from R32 to R34 uses the same idler as RB20s and RB25s? Is that correct? Ive seen the threads with the part numbers but the info given is for rb20 +25s. I dont want to have the car dissasembled, go to change the pulley only to find it wont fit my car. Does anyone know for sure they are all the same?
  11. Ive got a 10/96 R33 GT-R S2 and ive decided to get the timing belt done, for piece of mind. I've got the belt, and the tensioner (from Nissan), but they want 250 bucks for the idler, they mentioned a certain month/year breakpoint or so they said (mid 96 or there abouts) Ive read all the tb threads i could find on here for the last week, and i found NSK numbers etc for tensioner + idler. BUT nowhere does it say suits all RB's regardless, or rb20 +25s only, etc. Could some one who has had the tb done on there Series 2 GT-R please let me know if there is an NSK idler avail because the nissan one is just highway robbery. Is it the same as all RBs or do Nissan have me by the balls and will extort 250 bucks from me
  12. A couple of weeks ago i fitted a battery from a VT-VZ Commodore. Took out the plastic tray the standard battery was in, moved the bracket to the widest position, and fitted new battery terminals (because of the different post size) Its was a 600CCA MF type, but i could imagine you could get an Optima/ Odyssey of the same dimensions in a 700-800+ CCA if needed.
  13. Signed.. almost 76000 signatures now. TopGear is a show i watch religously, informative and a crack up at the same time. If the guys still want present it, then they should be allowed to make it. How many people get killed covering news event such as wars, conflicts, etc, should they stop making the news!?
  14. To not get into a dangerous situation only requires the driver to be paying attention to what is going on around them an obeying the road rules and speed limits, and using good judgement. But even these drivers may be faced with an accident from bad driving of other road users. This is when the training will help them avoid joining in the accident. And i agree with Winton Fun Days, where anyone can get out and give it a go, well setup and great concept, and awesome fun. But winton is 3.5-4 hours from where i am (SE burbs/Gippsland) its along way to go and takes a certain toll before your even out on the track. Same goes for Calder really, Friday night after work, peak hour + weekend traffic, and your racing at night with up to 100 or so other people. I prefer to drive to Heathcote because it during the day, less people there most weekends, and a more casual atmosphere. If there was a strip put in near Koo Wee Rup (35 min SE of Dandenong, very flat land in the whole region) or similar, id be out there every second weekend, rather than going to maybe 5-6 for the year because of the extra organisation and time and cost needed to go to more distant facilities. All im getting at is that alot more people would go racing if there were more motorsport complexes at hand. I will be trying to get to SAU Vic track days, track open days, etc as much as possible in the future. If there was a track/skidpan etc in the SE area i would be able to go to these more often. People that would not bother going to tracks because they are too far away or work/time commitments would be able to get out there aswell.
  15. If you can arm someone with the knowledge on how to avoid an accident that can only be a good thing. The average driver out there will not know what to do if their car flicks out sideways in the wet, or how to avoid an incident happening immediately in front of them. If they have experienced with how their car behaves in these situations, and can calmly and clearly react in an emergency (and not panic or clam up) then accidents will surely be avoided as they would have more driving skill. This can only lower the death toll. But this will only work with responsible drivers. Another component of the community is your “hoon”, those that give us enthusiasts a bad name. I can understand Trev’s perspective when applied to these people. If they go to a skid pan, slide around, hey they might even be a better driver for it. BUT some will come away with an inflated ego, thinking they now have greater skill and can push the limits further. In this case the training has not helped the situation, but its NOT the fault of the training itself. This is what it comes down to in the end. It’s the drivers ATTITUDE. You can put that guy in a better car, worse car, lower speed limits, increase fines, repossess cars, build better roads, whatever, and this person will still drive like an idiot endangering themselves and other innocent people. Until the drivers attitude changes and they have some respect for the law, these people will never be reached. A short stint in the army, or some such environment that will teach them discipline, may be an a way of bringing them round. They must understand that even though we don’t like some laws, they are there to protect us all, so you can see why they are enforced. On the flip-side, the government says you are not allowed to speed, or race on the streets; but we wont give you anymore motor-sport venues to use as an outlet for your enjoyment (because yes as human beings we do enjoy pushing the limits). We do it because we love the sensation of speed, the sense of accomplishment in doing a faster laptime, and getting to know other people with the same interests. But we also want to do the right thing and do it on a racetrack. Why cant we find more available local tracks and open days. This is not a fair compromise, it’s not a compromise at all because more limits are being set, but its getting harder to get a venue to enjoy motor-sport, they are being shutdown by public liability, noise pollution complaints and other red tape. If no one can use their car at a racetrack, then people wont be as interested in motorsport, wont go the watch the V8s or F1s or Drifting, spending money on tickets, merchandise, keeping employed the people that stage and work at these events; and this will have a massive negative effect on the touris. So its in their best interests. The taxes on the performance and safety parts we put on our cars to take to the track, also goes the governments kitty. Don’t they want a healthy economy? We all understand that motor racing is dangerous, but that wont stop our enjoyment of getting out there and turning a few laps for the thrill and excitement of it. We all take risks in our everyday life, we do it everyday although they may be smaller risks, if you don’t take some chances, to experience thing we otherwise wouldn’t because we were too cautious, then you haven’t lived life at all. (sorry for the long post… )
  16. S3 GTR, very nice! And with someone else replacing the engine + turbos it'll save you alot of future dollars. Welcome to the (unofficial, but growing) GT-R Club Expensive cost of entry but its worth it!
  17. When retrofitting the S3 lights to a S1 or 2 GTR, do they plug straight in, or is a rewire of the headlight loom needed aswell? Some where down the track i'd like to fit these to my GTR, standard headlights are terrible.
  18. Pretty low on the evil-o-meter compared to most. You Are 34% Evil A bit of evil lurks in your heart, but you hide it well. In some ways, you are the most dangerous kind of evil. How Evil Are You? http://www.blogthings.com/howevilareyouquiz/
  19. I recently bought 18x10s aswell and went with some Yokohamas. They were a fair bit cheaper than your other quote (depending on which model they quoted you on of course) I got the Yokohama AVS 102 in 265/35/18. They're about $325 per corner fitted when i had mine done. Awesome grip in a straight line and excellent steering response aswell. The only negative is that when they are new they have to be worn in, so dont go flying into a turn when you first have them fitted because they may not hold on! Should be right after the first 100kms or so. Otherwise its an excellent tyre, suited to street and mild track work. My 2c...... Cheers
  20. Work Emotion XD9, fair sized dish IMO
  21. Yokohama Advan V102, excellent tyre in the dry and wet. Blown away with the amount of grip available. Highly recommended.
  22. Another HPI subscriber here. And depending on the content of the particular issues, also: Motor Wheels Zoom
  23. Hell yeah i gotta get me one of those! As soon as they package Gran Turismo HD with the top spec 60G PS3, i'm sold Bought the PS2 bundled with GT3, ah memories
  24. Skyline model = 1996 R33 GT-R V-Spec Wheel Brand = Work Emotion XD9 Wheel diameter = 18" Wheel width = 10" Wheel offset = +18 Tyre size = 265/35/18 Modifications to fit = None They sure do fill out the guards now
  25. I was in a similar accident a couple of years ago. I pulled up fine, moderate braking nothing out of control like slamming on the brakes. The car behind me pulled up fine. The third car however didnt. They hit the car behind me, and pushed it into mycar. The third person was responsible for all the damage and it went through their insurance. The simple way to look at it is, if that third car wasnt there the wouldnt have been an accident. The second car shouldnt have to pay when they hit me, because if the car behind them didnt crash into them , there was no damage caused. If the second car had hit me, then the third car had hit the second a totally diffent outcome would occur, and it a gets a little harder to sort out.
