I too am using the standard airbox (cant stand the sound of a pod, makes the car sound like its on boost 24/7) but i have modified the airbox a little bit by removing the baffling/sound deadning stuff and also cutting out some of the inside of the airbox to make the airflow a bit smoother. Underneath the baffling stuff is some plastic squares which are part of the mould of the airbox, when the baffling is removed the squares are right in the path of the airway which would slow the air down quite a bit if you think about it (you will see what i mean in the pics bellow), i cut the squares out of the airbox so it basically gives the air a smooth path to follow and directs the air straight into the air filter (instead of hitting the squares and slowing down), i also taped around the intake snorkel (the part of the airbox were the air intake attaches to) with some thick duck tape so it creats a better seal between the intake and the airbox snorkel (without the ducktape the intake was very loose on the airbox and didnt seal very well which would possibly let air escape. Doing all of this might sound a bit stupid to some people but anything that improves ariflow is good in my books:) In these pics you can see the difference between the squares in the airbox and the ones i have cut out, i also gave it a sand so it made it smooth (it dosent look to appealing but you dont see it anyway) And here you can see the duck tape wrapped around the inlet snorkel which also dosent look very good but you dont see it anyway lol

How i would spend 10k: Dont sell the car, Keep the car, rb25det's have lots of potential, and r33's are a great car! 3"dump/front pipe Highflow cat Some type of japanese cat back, hks, trust etc Fmic, its up to you what type you use Standard airbox with K&N filter, or a decent pod (apexi/hks etc) in a decent cold airbox with good ducting GCG Highflowed standard turbo Apexi Power FC Greddy Profec B Spec 2 Nismo 550cc injectors Nismo fuel pump/Bosch/gtr etc etc Upgraded clutch Get it tuned by someone that is well known and recomended by skyline owners Some 17" or 18" wheels with 235 or 255 tyres on the back and some decent suspension, upgrade the brake pads. I didnt quote N.Z prices as aussie prices as obviously going to be different.

Im using ngk irdiums aswell, also had them in my old car, never had any problems with them but then again i have never made decent power of used high boost levels etc. They cost me $80 nzd for a set/6. Im running the standard gap (1.1mm) at the moment and the car seems to hesitate a little bit sometimes, maybe i should try gapping them down to 0.8mm and see if it makes things better, i have heard of lots of people doing this and had never had a problem so may give it a try.

Proven Rear Cannons That Actually Work
nizmo_freek replied to gtst25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
JASMA stands for "japanese approved silenced muffler association, so yea it basically means that if the muffler/exhaust you have has that tag on it then it has passed a certain standard and noise level (i think the limit in japan now is 93 or 95db) My HKS Silent High Power is jasma approved and is quoted by hks to be 93db, it is only a catback so when i finish the rest of the exhaust i expect it to get bit louder. But it does sound very good at the moment, a little bit drony sometimes but it is very toned, at 100kph you cant tell it apart from standard really In my opinion you cant go past a jap brand catback/muffler etc, spend the extra money and get somethin that you know will work. -
I just removed mine, it looks like it would definatly increase air flow with it removed, it dosent seem to sound much different tho, if anything it was quieter but it did seem to sound a little bit different.

Heres a few more of mine, just fitted a catback (HKS Silent High Power, full stainless)

Just remember that there is a guy on this forum that also ran 10's with a completly stock internal rb25det in a stock bodied r33 gts25t, there is also tons of guys in usa using stock rb25det's in silvias etc which are making big numbers reliably on stock internals!

Anyone Using Hks Silent High Power?
nizmo_freek replied to nizmo_freek's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Well the exhaust arrived 1st thing this morning so i got straight into fitting it, it was very very easy to fit and took me about 1hour all up, everything lined up and bolted on perfectly (as you would expect from hks!), when it was all done i started the car up and took it for a drive, it sounded bloody great, not too loud and not too quite (just what i wanted!!) the car is so quiet at 110kph you wouldnt even no its got a aftermarket catback on it. So to sum it all up i am very very pleased, the quality of the silent power is awsome, the sound is perfect (i might try and get a video of it later on) , it gave a resonable increase in top end power (it seems to feel a little bit sluggish down low and sometimes hesitates a little bit which could possible be the spark plugs (i havnt checked the gap of them yet but i suspect they will be 1.1mm, so will get some new plugs gapped to 0.8mm and see what happens) it is well worth the money and i recomend it to everyone!! Here are some pics P.S thanks for all the help!! -

Mate that would be great if you could get me a sound clip, atleast it would give me a bit of an idea of how it would sound, also would you happen to have any pics? I will be getting a full stainless 3" dump/front pipe later on and will also be getting a stainless decat pipe made (having no cat is not illegal in N.Z "yet") Cheers -

Thanks for that thizzle, really helpfull! It sounds very good on that 2nd sound clip, do you have a pic of the car straight from the back as it is kind of hard to tell what it looks like from the back (the angle etc), that would really help me out if you could post a pic, but if you dont have one thats sweet Thanks for the help Cheers -

Anyone Using Hks Silent High Power?
nizmo_freek replied to nizmo_freek's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The people that i "might" be getting it from (redline performance in n.z) have told me that hks have quoted the noise level of the hks silent high power at 93db which is not very loud at all, they have stopped selling the hks high power because it was too loud and now only sell the silent power. Maybe i should just be the test dummy and go and buy it :S -

Anyone Using Hks Silent High Power?
nizmo_freek replied to nizmo_freek's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thats the thing, The hks high power isnt avaliable in New Zealand anymore (dont have a clue why, something to do with noise levels), my other option was the trust power extreme 2 but that is $600 darer (hks silent high power = $1095, trust power extreme 2 = $1665 "both nz dollars") and i really dont want to spend that kind of money on just a catback. It dosent sound dead quiet on that video with it on a gtt, which is why i really need peoples opinions and experiences, i dont want an exhaust thats too loud but i dont want it too quiet either. So i really dont know what else to go for except the silent power.:S -
Hey there Yes i have searched but couldnt find anything about the stainless steel hks silent high power catback for a r33 gts25t, i am looking at getting one for my 25t and want peoples opinions on it, does it have a nice note? is it loud/quiet? Did you gain much power from it (i know i wont gain much power from it as it is only a catback). So im just looking for people opinions and experiences on this catback I have already had a good chat to the user "so tred" who is using one on his r34 gtt and he said this about it "It has a really nice sound, deep but not too loud. I find it drones a little doing around 60km..it really is pretty quiet cruising along doing 80km+. People that have heard it say it is alot quieter than theirs. I have absolutely no complaints about it" hes also sent me some links to pics and a link to a video, Thnks for your help mate Video: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v396/so_...nt=MOV02496.flv Pics: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...&album=1336 Any opinions and comments would be much appreciated Cheers guys Jason
