I was in same situation as you and if you are upgrading turbo for decent power you will probably need to spend around $3000 minimum. You will need to upgrade injectors, fuel pump, and likely go to a Z32 AFM if you are going for 220rwkw+. If this is the case then you will need to upgrade your ecu. My breakdown has been approx: HKS2530 + HKS wastegate actuator - $1600 +$300 because I was stupid and something must have got in the intake and chipped the compressor wheel. GTR Injectors - $200 + cleaning and flow testing Z32 AFM - $300 new, I got two second hand, I think one may be fake though but I will be testing this once I have the car running well. Bosch 040 fuel pump - $210, aprox $250 new Just Jap FMIC kit - $500 Power FC - $1000, could probably get away with a second hand emanage ultimate or a toshi remap for around $700 Boost controller - $40 Turbotech but you may like to go electronic and this could cost you $200 up Front pipe/split dump - $180 Misc costs for gaskets, getting intake piping welded, oil + coolant - $200-$300 You could probably get away with less. I got a turbo that has heaps of response and decent power in very good condition. You could probably get away with a hi-flow from Hypergear or something for $800ish if your not worried about this and want more than 240kw. I'm also lucky in that I have a good clutchalready , I think you would be lucky to get away with the standard one not slipping at decent power levels.

How Much Would It Cost Me To Replace A Rb20 Turbo Gasket?
Kwyjibo replied to IM-32-FK's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just a stupid question when changing these? Is the exhaust manifold to turbo gasket supposed to go on a certain way? They have an indent running all around it and don't know whether it can go either way around? I just put on a new turbo and am I trying to track down all leaks so I want to ensure I've done it right. -
I have a $40 Turbotech controller and it works fine, doesn't spike and holds fine.

Installing A Bosch 040 Fuel Pump Into An R32
Kwyjibo replied to eXc's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
I just installed one today. For some reason if I was to mount mine directly under the fuel feed pipe it would not fit in the tank. So I mounted it on a very slight angle and put a loop of hose around back to the feed. This actually worked really well. I only have 10l in the tank and its fine, its only slightly louder than the standard pump. I also did the fuel pump rewire because the standard pump was getting just under 12v. -

Hey mate, Keen on the Bosch 040, is it still boxed? Cheers, Adrian -
Finally took it for a bit of a drive and seems good. Spools up quickly but yeah its very loud. Knock was reaching about 40 on PowerFC though so can't really test anymore until I get the GTR injectors in and get it tuned just in case.

Thanks guys!

I have a USB consult Cable for sale. I think it works with any Nissan ECCS ECU ie 300zx, Skyline(not RB20 red top). Heaps of free software to monitor and log sensors, error codes etc. Even more functionality if you purchase Nissan Datascan. Drivers and more info can be found at http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/consult_if.shtml as this is where I bought it from. Works on almost all versions of Windows including Vista. Looking for about $65 + postage. Make me an offer if you like. Contact me by PM or on 0430 508 321. Cheers, Adrian

Thanks for the call Hypergear was very helpful. Will let you know if I notice anything strange but seems ok.

Ok thanks! Was just stressing out since I can hear it winding down in the cabin and this whole modding business has been nothing but trouble so far:p

I have a HKS2530, recently had a new wheel put in by Hypergear and they gave it the all clear. After putting some oil through it and spinning it by hand I have noticed there is a bit of noise, don't know if its usual or what. Video is below: The sound itself wouldn't worry me too much but I can even hear it spinning for about 5 seconds after turning the car off from inside the cabin. Seems to boost ok but hard to tell since I need to sort out a few boost leaks. Any ideas, this normal with a BB turbo? Should also note that there is no shaft play.

Hi, I'm about to change the rocker cover gaskets on an RB20DET. On most cars I have done this on I have had a workshop manual that has a picture showing certain spots to put a bit of RTV sealant on when doing this. Does the RB20 have some points where I am meant to do this or should I just put some of the sealant all over the new gaskets? Also does anybody know the torque settings for the rocker cover bolts? Cheers, Adrian

Central 20 - Rb20 Ecu, With 2 Diff Chips
Kwyjibo replied to Kwyjibo's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hey mate yeah it was tuned for stock turbo with exhaust and intake mods at 12-14psi ish. Basically it gave me a reasonable amount more mid range, not sure how much it would affect an RB25 turbo. -

Price drop, $100 anyone? Just saw another manual RB20 ECU go for $100 + postage and you get 2 chips with this one. Cheers, Adrian -

Car still off the road. Not getting as much tax back as expected so won't be out to any track days for a month and a half -
Hey guys, I'm looking to sell my RB20 ECU. Inside it has a tune by CEFF1E for a RB20 with exhaust/intake mods and boost around 12-14 psi. It also comes with a chip from Central 20 that I'm pretty sure also supports those mods and has speed cut, raised rev limit etc. The ECU has a harness inside so you can swap them over as you please. Looking for about $115, make me an offer if you think thats not fair. I'm located in Canberra but happy to post at buyers expense. Cheers, Adrian

Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has a way to save Power FC maps externally so I can reset mine for a bit. Story is a bought one with a tune of exact same mods as mine that i just planned on taking somewhere to get it cleaned up for my engine. It was running a Z32 AFM and GTR injectors(on RB20) however the selected AFM is 'RB20 Standard' and Injector % is at 100. I talked to the guy and he called his tuner shop, they said that the tuner no longer works there but may have tuned that stuff into the map, seems kind of strange to me though. Anyway I would like to save the current maps and reset the unit just so I can set AFM and injectors normally and then eventually test with the other map. So if anyone has this ability please let me know. Cheers, Adrian

Thanks guys thats exactly what I needed.

Yeah don't worry was always planning on getting a touch up tune straight away to ensure its safe. Pretty much answers my question. What I meant was is the 'monitored' signal the actual voltage coming from the AFM or is it modified by the Power FC and then shown. My eManage example is because that is what I was originally going to get and it modifies the signal before it reaches the standard ECU. Obviously the Power FC as standalone so I wasn't sure whether it showed the actual value or a value modified based on which AFM you select.
-
One more question, this Power FC was running on a car with exact same mods as mine(RB20, GTR injectors, HKS2530, Z32 AFM etc) and had a pretty good tune so I was hoping to just get it checked to make sure tune was safe. However I have just put it in and turned key to on(car is not currently able to run) and 'R32 Standard' was highlighted in the AFM settings. Also I noticed all injectors were set to 100% and no timing changes.(I would have thought instead of 100% it should be 440/270 so somewhere around 60%) Could this have been tuned in some other way(just changing a/f settings to make up for the change in AFM and injectors)? If so do any Power FC Gurus know some points in the standard map that would have to be changed so I could check and see if this is the case? Cheers, Adrian
-
I just got a Power FC and want to test a Z32 AFM that I think may be dodgy on it. What I need to know is whether the voltage displayed in the monitor section is the actual voltage or modified voltage. To explain it better if you were to run a eManage Ultimate and then monitor AFM voltage through consult then it won't be displaying the actual voltage, it will be displaying the voltage adapted to the ECU. Cheers, Adrian
