Hmmm that is a decent saving! might have to check it more regularly then :-)
-
Hows things dude? :-) I do like steam but i dont know if they have massive savings they make it out to be, over say EB games definately, but against say Aussie Gamer for $80 Aus delivered to ya door... might be a small saving over steam, some of the games though like Bioshock 2 delivered to my door for $37 was always a good deal :-) http://www.aussiegamer.com.au/fallout-new-...pc-p-52085.html Does steam take up some of your bandwidth allocation? i have 25GB each month so not a big dent, but it was 12GB per month so steam would have killed my broadband allowance if it goes towards your actual allowance.. hope i am making sense??

Definately hanging out for it, LOVED fall out 3 cant wait to see what they do with this one! Any screen shots yet?

This is your third thread thus far with nothing in it. All well and good that your trying to get your post count up, however would be ideal to maybe do it in another section in the forum rather than clogging up the for sale threads. I think there is a welcome section in the wasteland which might be ideal.

one of the guys at work just got it and loves it, talked about riding a horse then skinning other horse to sell at the doctors, then told me starting out in multiplayer was quite funny as he picked a big fat mexican that had to ride on a small donkey when first starting out. I think once i finish bioshock 2 this will be my next game.... pc of course.... i have a ps3 but like my pc gaming better ;-)

Geez just spotted the Taos C that you got... now down to $1200... I promised myself i would hold off buying one but it is sooooo bloody tempting! have a look http://www.bumsonbikes.com.au/bob/product....at=0&page=1

quick one for you all and especially Mad082 is it typical for bike prices in May/June to be falling so much?? i have seen heaps of shops now all of a sudden reducing prices here in perth, especially giant brands. A lot of the Giants at carine cycles here in perth have just finished a massive sale, was looking at Giant Alias's aftr Mr Eps recommendation and they used to go for 1200 now they are down to 800! the XTC 2 was $1700 now $1200. Why these massvie drops? is it just consistent with end of financial year, or is it because the 2011 models are coming in? Is this regular for this time of year?

HAHHAAHAH nice work!!

Hey Dan, thanks for asking, the MRS loooved the bike. Its a GT aggressor so a real low - mid range bike but i only paid $100 for it, it needs a service which i will take it to get done on the weekend. We went round lake joondalup which was 18kms, i have done it a few times now, and surely enough she was enjoying it so she did it aswell albeit at a much slower pace. Were off to get some of those padded diaper shorts though this weekend whilst the bike is being serviced. So looks like my little bike gang is getting bigger.... move over BMX bandits!
-
just to add to the excitement of it all, a lady at the cafe here at work is selling her house and eveything and leaving to the uk. she has a small Haro GT aggressor, so i just bought it for the wife for $100 and its sitting in the back of my car. Couple of small bits of rust (just some specs) and a bit dusty, other than that it feels pretty good so i got it, i hope the mrs can ride a bike..... soon find out i guess..... talk about impulse buy though! ahah! Its a small size frame but she is only 5 foot 9 so i think if i raise the seat and the handle bar she should be sweet. I looked like a circus clown on it no doubt when i was testing it out the back :-)
-
Cheers Eps, Will google it and check it out :-) Prob interested more around near xmas so if it is there then i will have a bit of a look... will have to be good coz i am still in love with that Taos C bike! ;-) I do know though that Giant have an exceptional name behind em so thats always good.
-
Thanks Mad082 *Oops* Yes i did miss that bit :-) Still reading through all the pages and looking at your info on the forks etc. This is the beauty of this forum even though this thread is in wasteland and people where mean to Mr Eps this thread still has a lot of REALLY good info for really keen noobs in the bike world such as myself. Hmmmm no wonder why you have so much info .... your surrounded by bikes! I will prob annoy you then closer to christmas then to see what bike arond the 1k mark you would recommend.... stay tuned :-)
-
Just going back on this Mad082 I think this will be the style of bike i go for at christmas, might annoy you in a few months to see how it is all going and where you got it from etc. I have also seen the 2010 model going for just over $1700 at bikes.com.au so kinda hoping that will come down close to the 1k mark near Chrissy, no doubt there will be heaps more new bikes between now and then but this one keeps looking better and better and at 12 kilos i think it would be sensational! :-) The more i look at it the more i like it! Would this be ok for street riding to and from work plus the occasional squirt on a mountain? i think i have the bike bug :-) now that i have sold my skyline it looks like other than the gym this is now my hobby!
-
hahahah! if it feels good to free ball then im going to get em. SHIIIIIT they look nice! Will prob head to Joondalup cycle City to see if they sell these. They look pretty decent! i gave in today and just bought some el cheapo spalding full length skins to wear under my shorts. Will give it a go, but those shorts do look good! Are they really thick or generally feel like a pair of long shorts with skins under neath them?
-
ahaha yeah all good, its coming down a bit now and seems to be going on the right track :-) cheers though dude and as always good to have a quick yarn with ya! OK just recalibrated my monitor and am extremely happy with it, after 2k was only 30 metres out which aint too bad at all really! Just have to get the heart rate monitor going and proper bike wear and i will feel like a pro! to bad i still cycle like a bloody amateur, even a 50 year old dude hammered it past me on the way home :-) Will head to the local bike shop tomorrow to see what bike wear they have now!
-
ahaahah yeah i have the strap but havent worn it yet when riding, i could imagine though it feeling like a fricken elastic band rubbing and rubbing! not nice, but have had high blood pressure lately (which you know me dan is quite unusual when i try to stay fit and eat well) so thought it might be good idea to watch the heart in some form....
-
Nah dont have iphone, phone contract runs out in dec so will definately get one then. I have a sigma monitor with heart rate monitor as well, works great, but will have to reduce the wheel size, also the little sensor sits about half way up the wheel as well as that where it sits just under the shocky on the front fork.
-
yeah def goin to drop by the bike shop and get some riding gloves like driving miss daisy style ones :-) I work skins underneath my shorts and t shirt which is great for those parts, but will have to invest in some of these arm and leg thinggies you guys are talking about as well. Kinda looking forward to the bike ride home, I live in Tapping (just past joondalup) and am riding to whitfords which is prety close to 20kms, i have actually bought a spedometer but it is taking innacurate measurements saying that my ride was 40km which i am sure it wasnt, it was also telling me that i was travlling 45kms hour??!!
-
Just did a nice one hour ride in to work today on my new tyres! Massive difference, with the new semi slick, i bought also has the kevlar belt inside the tyre to reduce punctures. Such a smoother ride. It was bloody cold this morning and i was wearing shorts and t-shirts, everybody else was wearing bike kits gloves etc. Looks like i will have to do this as well for next time, my FKN fingers FROZE! and i had snot reminiscent of that scene in dumb and dumber when they are on the scooter!
-
"still pedalling the whole way thru, fk braking of course, that shit's for pussies" bwahahhaah nice one :-)
-
Well went for my ride around the local lake this morning (about 16kms in total) then about 1km away from home my rear end of my bike started vibrating.... thought maybe it was the chain until it started getting worse and worse, finally looked at my rear tyre then realised i had my first puncture tyre. Oddly enough i smiled then walked the last km, knowing i have now had my bike tyre gang virginity broken, i think i can kinda call myself a cyclist ;-) So with that i went down to the local bike store where i got it from and purchased 2 flat attack kevlar belted tyres for it, both semi slicks. I have been putting off riding the bike to work for a few weeks now as it is an 18km ride either way, but with the excitement of the new tyres i think i will do it on Tuesday providing weather stays good. paid $87 for the 2 tyres and a tube, which is kinda strange because I am sure the guy said $20 per tyre (which was extremely cheap) last time i asked him about tyres, and i am sure the upgraded tube he gave me isnt worth $40 odd dollars?? oh well am still quite happy with him as he has given me heaps of other discounts on bike, helmet, lights etc so i can complain. All in all am kinda looking forward to this early cold morning ride to work and the late cold ride home :-)

I waited nearly 4 months for one, when it finally came out i realised that my 620w corsair power supply might have a few issues having enough power to run it, so rather than risk it i thought i would buy the 5870. So far so good :-) Got the gigabyte 5870 for $495 so was pretty happy bout that. i think it should remind a good high end gfx crd for sometime now as dx11 is only just phasing in at will no doubt take at least over another 12 months to go dx 12..... Call of duty MW 2 looks awesome with it!

ahahaah poor bugger! Y eah i have switched from Nvidia to ATI for the first time, Catalyst seems pretty easy and has a very minor OCing tool included which i think will be perfect, i dont feel like blowing up my $500 card, so am more than happy just to increase it by 50 or so. the 480s are steadily coming down in price BUT the 5870's are kind of staying at the same price now, ie Nvidia prices are dropping much quicker than ATi prices. I guess becuase its a new product, but, are needing to establish its proper price range...... reminds me of the MYER share float :-)

Sorry guys to whack up yet another post, just to get your last opinion. The apollo bike i got (summit) is having troubles changes in the front gear set from 1st to 2nd to 3rd. Basically it wont go 1st to 2nd, i have to go to third and THEN to 2nd. I have taken it back twice because prior to this the chain was falling off when changing gear AND the chain ws rubbing against the selector, both of those issues have been fixed by adjusting the selctor however now after fixing those issues the front three gears arent "smooth" He said bring it back in four weeks for your first service and we can look at it more then, i would just hate when i do he then says "Oh well now its out of warranty so if you want it fixed its going to cost X amount of dollars" Are these kind of things normal?? i know its a entry level bike however its still $500 for the bike and would think the gears would be nice on it?? One of the ladies though who i work with just said as long as your little gears work well thats mainly what matters as other than going up a massive incline there is not much need to change the big gears. Also, that Apollo TAOS C bike that you bought looks insane! carbon and all! VERY JEALOUS!!

By Nix do you mean skins? I just got back from my honeymoon in vegas/NY/LA and picked up some awesome Nike skins shorts for $25 (retail for about $100 over here) Awesome will give the seat adjustment a bit of a go, i have only been for two decent rides so yeah hoping my a$$ gets used to it! Otherwise will check out some nice seats to cushion it :-) Eps - what info do you have on the tyres so i can look em up, will they fit onto any rim, just thinking of car tyres here, cant put a 215 on a 17x12inch wheel :-) Oh one last question - do you guys use the shoes that clip into the pedal, cleets (sp???) i dont have a strap or anything like that for my pedals, was even thinking about checking to see if they have a strap that just goes over my pedal, i read an article lately saying that the downforce on the pedal is only 70% of the potential power as your only using the "push" part of a push/pull motion.
