Awesome game to watch and hear on the 5.1 sound system :-) anyone who is considering getting a new computer please take setup i have and use it as so far I am extremely happy with it :-) Now to bring on the games, now have crysis .... just got to now get the rest of your suggestion ticked off on my "to buy" list THanks all for your help, My mrs is not going to see me now for about 4 days, work throughout the day, gaming throughout the night! -

Thanks Skyline34, what is FM2008? Cheers Mayuri Krab, I understand now, bit dodgey kinda as you can easily fudge the figures from g to g as you said from white to white etc. So then would you pay an extra $200 right now to go from the Asus 22inch to a 24inch? I have until tomorrow to notify them of any changes as i grab it on wednesday. Or would you wait still 1 - 2 years when i upgrade and start overclocking that nice gigabyte motherboard and cpu :-) -

Thanks for the info Mayuri, i see a few good posts you have put up in the games thread here, good work! Yeah my plan is to stick with dual for say 1 - 2 years when costs of high end quads cheapen and when games utilise them. Yep the Mobo is: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 1333Mhz FSB Mainboard Apparently its mean to be a pretty good mboard?? hopefully can handle some Oclocking in a year or two before i go the quad. Also have been looking at www.pccasegear.com.au they have some nice fan controllers there to add a bit of bling to my case, might grab one and speed up the fans. AHAH yeah with the 1TB i think for me it is a bit overkill, but i asked them if i can reduce the 500GB raids down to 2 x 250GB raid, and they said yes, that will be a saving of $12 - $16, so i thought i may aswell pay the extra :-) OK it seems that the Physx card is out, alienware seems to be still using these in a lot of there high end gaming systems, maybe there is a new improved model on the way, if so will keep my eyes open if there are any progressions with them, but for now as you all mentioned I wont worry. Nice list of games now, Ahh yes i nearly forgot Bioshock, does anyone ever watch that show on ABC called "Good Game" i have become a true nerd over the last few months watching that show and they really like bioshock a lot, each time they refer to it they use it as a benchmark for other 1st person shooters...... just to show you how much i like gaming, whilst on holiday in Thailand you wouldnt beleive what was on tv....... World Gaming championships! I gave up elephant riding to stay in the hotel one day to watch it!!! ahahahhah!! -

Thanks for that BNR#@ Cool then wont worry about it, I am alreadythinking of what to get in my next bi annual upgrade on this beast :-) I was tossing up between the 24 inch or a 22inch but the asus 22 looks so dam nice, prob willl wait until the same tech (2ms refresh) hits 24 inches at a reasonable price. Yep I will put a big tick next to Assasins Creed, although i have not seen any demos or pics I have heard its meant to be a good one, another one added to my list :-) Is duke nukem 3d out yet? Might see if "playasia" does pc games on the cheap -
This is off SLY which might i add is for sale here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Sl...-S-t199601.html (free plug for me :-) ) Now this photo is kinda like a stage 1 polish i guess you could say, intercooler pipes, braided hosing, head polish, strut polishing. Now a LOT more polishing has gone into it since but for her first show she really did look the part. That was from 2003 when Briffa did it, however he is a very good guy and if you only had a budget of $500 I am sure he can try and help you out where ever he can spend time on, whilst you may not get everything i did for that price in 2003 you would get somethuing pretty good!
-
Sorry i should clarify, NOT A FULL ENGINE POLISH! but for a good amount that catches the eye, not at all. Give Mick a call at Briffa engineering, he should still be in Morley, let him know your budget. The guy always has time to go through with you what would look best for minimal amount of money. Be quite precise on what parts you want polished eg top of head, he also managed to get a hold of some braided look covers, it is complete rice but it did finish the engine bay off, also prob polish the top of your plenum or produce a plenum cover to make it look more neat, do you have a strut brace? get that repolished as well. Just be imaginative and think about what the main parts are, you will be surprised what you can get done with him for $500, imagine what you could then get done for $1000! Now i got mine done about 3 years ago, soooo yes there is a thing called inflation and that $500 may now be $600,however you should still be able to get a bit done for around that mark. See what the cost would be to get some braided look hose covers, head polished, plenum polish or a cover, strut brace polish, also where the bonnet closes he can make a nice little cover as well, goes over the radiator similar to the proffesionally made one by ARC. Masters maybe right that may go over $500 but you can cut that down or go through what is needed out of that.

A very low skyline on 17s still looks hot, with 17s you can lower the car further just for the auto salon. Do you have adjustable coilovers by any chance should you not be able to source some 18's?
-
Also if a big guy wants to take a pic of your car and he has a very expensive camera and introduces himself as TJ, cover your crutch or at least make sure your zip is done up. In all honesty TJ takes some great pics so try and get some of the girls near your car, some of the mags like it when the girls are near your car, you can pretty much have a POS Herbie the love bug, but whack a few promo girls wearing next to nothing near it, take a pic and *WHAM* next thing you know your car is on the cover of the next auto salon mag :-)
-
Have you considered the mat black option colour for your car? depends on costing however. From what I am hearing the matt black colour is meant to be quite popular in the auto salon scene and not too many are doing it now (some of them still obsessed with lambo orange and scissor doors) Also what engine mods do you have? Is this your first show? If not what progressions in your car have you gone through since last show as the boys tend to look for that at judging. If it is your first show stick with the low and fat theme, JDM spec etc as that always seems to blend in well. I remember the first show was not to win but to at least get my car to the same standards as others. Your car looks nice and i think the wheels that you are looking at go well with the car. Just keep in mind engine mods, looks are great but negative comments i used to hear on cars that had a lot of cosmetics done but no engine work done outweighed the good comments unfortunately. I quick hint, for the cost of maybe $500 get someone to polish your engine bay, then remove the hood, although no major mods are done it still looks nice and has people wondering if anything has been done :-) Oh and let your bank know you are going into the car shows, all of a sudden they become your best friend!!?? Probably due to the money that you end up spending. Anyways, I DONT KNOW EVERYTHING about car shows but i can try and help where necessary :-)

I am a big fan of the previous warhammers I have dark crusade which i have finished twice, to get me started on how many times i have completed Age of empires, i like my strategy games :-) Can anyone tell me about some sort of device called (sp?) Ahh yes there is a thread here on the game GRID will look through it. Got the whole setup from netplus, still definately the cheapest i could find for high end gear. Link below, i got the extreme version. http://www.netplus.com.au/systems.asp Very cheap stuff! but check out some of the netpro stuff at the bottom of the page! $5000 system looks nice :-) -
With all this talk now for sometime on the new pc's and giving my advice wherever i could in my somewhat limited knowledge after clocking my old pent 4 2.8 to 2.96ghz there is only so mutch clocking an old AGP gfx card and clocked CPU can do. So yesterday at 10am I order my new PC, it arrives on Thursday. I am so excited here is the run down. Dual ... yes dual not quad conroe E8400 Gigabyte mboard 4gb 800mhz ram DUAL raid 0 500GB HDD so 1000GB in total (over kill but it was only a saving of $15 over a total of 500GB) 9800GTX 512MB Gfx card 22inch asus screen 5.1 speakers Coolermaster centurion case on Vista etc for $1900 my question is.... what games MUST i play. With such graphic capabilities what game do you guys recommend me as a MUST have So far I am looking at buying: Call of duty 4 Crysis Supreme commander War in conflict So hit me with it, what are the games really think would graphically blow me away! Also does anyone know what the Physx card is that i have briefly seen in an add? does it help gfx?? Thanks all looking forward to your input for my gaming shopping spree on thursday :-)

if you are getting a new mobo, does the existing ram fit it? if the old mobo was AGP and the ram fit that just check to ensure the ram is the same. Nice and cheap setup, you may also want to look at upgrading the 60GB hard disk in the future as a lot of software is now taking up considerably more HDD space
-
Not bad, the intel dual core though still seems to be the pick of the bunch at the moment, have a look at a few threads down from this one in regards to building a new pc, lot more info for you.

I think the old XF throttle bodies were also being readily used not so long ago.

Building New Pc - 1 Question - Help Please!
25GTT replied to Owgasm's topic in PC & Games Discussion
nice, so were did you get it from and how much? The cpus have really started to come down a bit since we last left this, quad 6600s are now quite cheap, everyone is still going for the duals ATM until quads are needed. so that samsung is a 24inch yeah? nice! -
Check my post and the two workshops I have recommended.

Good find on the engine parts, but please please please dont skimp on the $$$$ for labour costs in rebuilding the engine. Mine cost 7k and is still runnning well, all rebuild at a well recognised mechanic etc. have a look at my SLY 33 gtst for sale thread and that gives you an idea of what i got, that included a wolf ecu as well. Unfortunately friends have gone for cheaper alternatives and have not gone as well with their engines, head gasket went on one of em. I would go with shops such as Hyperdrive/top racing, prob two of the more well known shops. in answer to your question about your gear box, troll through some of the clutch threads in the WA section as there was a great transmission and clutch specialist in Osborne park, I saw him about 6 months ago, its just near the triumph mechanic and WA suspension there, anwyays great old bloke and a whole heap of knowledge on the skyline boxes due to the amount of lcutches he had installed for all of the SAU crew.

Hi All, unfortunately I am strongly considering selling my skyline, after 6 years of love and about 50k spent I have my heart solemly swept by 2 cars, one being of course 34GTR the other being an Honda NSX. I am seeing some beautiful NSX's coming up on draganddrift.com in the circuit section, however, these were banished with the new SEVS scheme, if i recall correctly. Now every so often personal imports can come through etc etc, also I have heard of some other ways of getting special cars in (some are starting low volume imports of the 35GTR if I am not mistaken) What options do I have in getting an NSX to my door. think can do, not cant do :-) surely there must be a way? Surely SOMEONE out there must know a way to get one in, low volume import?personal import?your assistance is needed. Thanks in advance for your time.

when my engine got rebuilt there was no white smoke. Sometimes the engine will overfuel a little when cold but that is black smoke. white/blue smoke is turbo related.
-
Hi Laurel, Hope you dont mind me trying to help. Is this the same HKS turbo that you were talking about in your previous for sale thread: "hey guys iv got a hks t04e turbo litle shaft play 450 n a set of sard 550 cc injectors for 550 pm me or call 0410661080..." If so it maybe ideal to let prospective buyers know that it does have shaft play in this thread?????? I would hate to be the buyer then realise the turbo had shaft play. Of course if it isnt the same one best of luck with the sale and free bump! even if it does have shaft play still not a bad price after rebuild, however it maybe beneficial to let buyers know this.

This Isn't Really Anything 'gamey' Per Se...
25GTT replied to Marco-R34GTT's topic in PC & Games Discussion
yeah i recently bought a 50inch plasma, did all of the work and investigations, read ups, forums the works, value for money is the panasonic 50inch viera (the one i got in the end), Pioneer did have the best quality but you pay considerably more for it. no other tvs plasma or lcd came close to the viera, i still go to my mates house every so often and watch the footy on his Sony LCD and think what a waste, LCD is not made for fast moving pictures like plasma. Dont get me wrong the LCD when on a normal picture ie watching the getaway show with the host wearing a skimpy bikini while on a bright blue beach LOOKS AMAZING, but when the images need to move quickly there is a lot of 'pixelation' When your in your local harvey norman/retravision ask them to put on the footy, you be the judge :-) Save your time and use the time i spent for your benefit, i did my homework and would recommend the panasonic viera 50inch as mentioned, also they do a 42 inch as well should money play a major factor. Hope that helps
