I am upgrading to a single turbo to suit my new stroker set up.These turbos have done 15,000kms in Oz,unsure about total kms. They are currently at Ice Performance,I have no pics currently, will try and get some tomorrow. I am asking $3000 for the whole lot,not willing to seperate. If they dont sell before I get the stroker kit they will be going back on. It includes HKS 2530 turbos,HKS dump pipes, equal length front pipes from uknown Jap origin, standard manifolds. This set up made 370rwkw six weeks ago at 1.5bar with cams and a stock bottom end. Cheers Markos

Thanks for clearing that up Mik.

Yeh,Iwas pretty sure they only did counterweight cranks with there stroker kits. His email to me says billet.I'll confirm with him tomorrow.Either way I'm getting the kit. pm's replied Tommy and Jag

Billet crank,H beam rods with ARP bolts, forged pistons, rings. I'm getting it through a shop in Melbourne. He is doing a great deal for me cause of all the business I've done with him.Not sure he wants me to post up his details,it may be a one off deal.I'll check with him tomorrow.Pretty sure he wants to be a sponsor, not that easy on SAU,he rips Nenguns prices. He can also get me Tomei H beam rods for $1490. And I dont have to pay up front as he is a legitimate business,he doesnt use my money to buy the parts. In regards to piston size,I'll let him know tomorrow. The motor is still being pulled apart.I wanted to avoid going this far as I was under the impression the motor had forged pistons.I was a bit shocked when I found out it had stock pistons, stock rods and crank and stock head gasket. It made 370rwkw at 1.5bar.I over revved it with a less than full sump, bearings in the sump. I suppose at that power level and boost the motor would have let go sooner or later.HKS 2530's now for sale.LOL.

I ordered my Tomei 2.8 kit today.Dont have the funds to buy a complete Tomei built motor.I got the kit for $5950 which is a good price, the kit with the cooling channel in the pistons was $1200 more. Getting my clutch rebuilt by Jim Berry, better start saving for an OS box I suppose.

I always run Yokahama A048's on my GTR and S15.Wet weather grip is far superior to my Bridgestone S03's,which I have just refitted to clear a defect(low tread).

I dont think Tommy started this thread to be bagged as he has. I am guessing no one on these forums has any experience with this motor.I for one would never run a VL bottom end in my R34 GTR. If he has the cash for such an upgrade,he will end up with a very, very good R34. There is no doubt he could have a motor built in OZ that would exceed the HP rating of the Tomei unit,580ps is easily achieved for a lot less cash, but looking at the performance of the Mines GTR with a mere 600ps,there is a lot more to it than HP. I wish I could afford one as well.
-
Tommy, you have obviously done your homework on this, and you can afford it,go for it. Very curious to see how your car performs. Any word on what block they use? Will your gearbox hold up? Good luck.
-
If your willing to go to that far building your engine, then with the sums you've done, its probably worth it. It's just that you could build a trouble free 600hp RB28 for alot less in Australia. Let us know how you go,could be a very interesting car when finished. Just calculated that 2,415,000 yen is $28,000+. Do you still have to provide a replacement motor. You also make no mention of what block they use.

The Jag XJ220 did a 7.30 years earlier, they did'nt class it as full production because the specs changed before the car was released. The GTR was on road tyres. The R32 did 8.15 and the R34 ran a 7.53.
-
Speaking to the Yokahama dealers at Rowville, they inform me that the Jap spec A048's are much softer than Oz spec, thats why 8 of the 9 cars in that shootout are on them,as Mines have run before. Ben at RacePace thinks the Mines car has gears out of a R32 GTS 4 ,4.34 compared to 4.11 I think he said. All this "trickery" is available to all,but they still cant catch it.

My previous post about the Mines v HKS GTR was from memory.I just watched the DVD again. Hot Version-Tuner Battle Royale...Tsukuba Mines........................................HKS 2.6 litre.....................................2.8 litre 1550 kg.....................................1630 kg 600 ps.......................................700 ps HKS 2530's................................HKS T04Z RE55s 265/35/18........................A048 265/35/18 57.996 sec.................................59.176 sec These were the figures on the video. On the original post,I would gladly have a Supra and a GTR in my garage, but if I could only have one...GTR.

I agree a Tomei engine would be a dream for me,but $25000 seems excessive. If they rebuild your motor they obviously dont use an N1 block.I can get their 2.8 stroker kit for $5950,oil pump for $1300.If you allow around $3000 for an N1 block,$3000 for the head work,it allows alot of room for extra costs, plus the cost of shipping an RB26 back to Japan. You also have to allow for the price of the RB26,maybe $4000. Warranty issues could be a concern with them being so far away. Still it would be really nice having one....if you can afford it,go for it.

I enquired about a Tomei engine for my S15 and I had to provide an SR20 as a replacement. I am looking at buying the 2.8 stroker kit at the moment. Sorry if I'm not much help regarding your other questions.

The head to head at Tsukuba recently in a 5 lap race, the Mines car had a best of 57sec and the HKS was 1.01. The Mines car is specifically built to be fast at Tsukuba, although I'm sure they could build a fast car to suit any track.
-
Come back and tell us when a mere 600hp Supra goes around Tsukuba in 57 seconds. I love Supras, but come on,the GTR is in a different league. All Sydneykid was saying is the Supra should be compared to other RWD cars, not the immortal GTR. You dont need to defend your Supras honor,it is an incredible car,its just not a GTR. Great power figures by the way.

I have been pricing up the best price for a Tomei stroker kit for my GTR.Searched the usuall suspects on the net first to get a rough guide. Best price is $5950.Billet crank,H beam rods, forged pistons. From a shop in Melbourne. Because I have a history with this shop,as I buy all my parts from him,he rewards loyalty. Great way to run a business if you ask me.

Jun 2.7l Stroker Build Underway (hks T04z)
m&m replied to StageZilla's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I have my engine out at the moment and it looks like I will be fitting a Tomei 2.8l kit.I chose the Tomei purely on the ridiculuos low price I can get it for. Your thread has been very informative.Great job. -
I have a PAR gearset in my S15.The standard set didnt like 250rwkw much.So far no problems, feels strong,a bit noisier, drives like standard.Cost me $4800 all up with delivery to NSW and back, with them rebuilding the box. I think I'll be using the OS set for my GTR though. Sam doesnt return calls but he does reply to emails. Anyone used his rods on a GTR???
-
Saw one on the Gold Coast last month, look great on the road.Well done.

Anyone have any experience with the Martini brand of oils???

Anyone here have a dry sump set up? If so,how much $$$$ and where??

Nathan, let me assure you these are prime spots.Maybe you go by in peak our traffic, they set up from about 11.00am to 2.00pm as to not affect traffic too much. I got by on Westall Rd with about 6 cops staring with there jaws on the ground(big GT wing at the time,S15) cause their booths were full.Three weeks later I ducked into the Dingley International and spent 2 hours there.Went for a walk and they had exits covered on Centre Dandy and Lower Dandy.
