Done.... somebody was up early this morning....... I could hand them over on the SAUWA cruise sunday???? Let me know.
-
That got ur attention ahaha!!!!! I do have a set to give away tho..... Due to the yellow sticker I had to raise my car (thanks to Gavin in Mandurah for kindly lending me his springs ** ).... and now i have gone to something a bit less ridiculous.. So i have my original ones for whoever wants them... *I MUST WARN YOU* They are super lows which have been cut, so they do not sit properly in the strut until the car is lowered. The pics in my album show the ride height (with 18's). I did have problems with ground clearance, but i had no problems with the springs.... the car drove nicely and looked good, but the pit didnt like the fact the spring was loose when jacked up. So if you want them PM me..... first in best dressed. Mike

Hey...... does anyone have an external gate they wouldn't mind getting rid of?? Let me know!

The autos in the 33 are extremely strong and i know of a few with stage 2 shift kits and 2.5 to 3 stalls.... From factory they have a failsafe function to prolong life. Everytime the trany shifts, the computer causes a missfire in the fuel/ingnition system so that no power transfers through the box at that time.... it sucks badly.... but i found a way around it: pump the gas pedal just before change (ie off then on) and she used the smoke into 2nd!! Another advantage is the snow mode. The snow mode stops the use of 1st gear (unless you are manually in 1st) for slippery conditions..... so when you stall it up, put the stick in 2nd and it stalls in 2nd...... more boost no spin. When the light goes green, drop it into 1st and you'll have full boost. It is litterally like dropping the cluch in a manual Unfortunately as a consequence i destroyed the box after 6 months of hard driving..... unlucky hehe
-
But hey..... you cant complain when you get a 5 speed and a 4.4 diff ratio
-
Nangkang NSII................. they spin when you want them to and grip like hubba bubba to a dunlop volley every other time.... i got the 265 18' ones and they are great. Plenty of smoke, plenty of art and they last... Ill let you all in on a secret........ phone order from tempe tyres (www.tempetyres.com.au) in syd 17" 235 around 110 ea!!!! (85 delivery with in 4-5 days). I paid 220 for my 265 18s and 180 for the 235 fronts. I got a few guys together and they made it cheaper plus its still only 85 freight. Mike

I did a manual conversion on my r33 and did it all my self... It is a fairly easy job to do and works out cheap if you do it the way i did it......... I ordered a 33 halfcut (manual) from a place in wangara (pm if you want the details as this place doesnt like to be known about) for about $3500, swaped boxes and sold the halfcut here for $3500!! The conversion is simple, you and a few mates can change the flywheel and lift the box in. The pedal box is a bit fidgity but if you persist its all ok. You dont have to remove any of the computers as it all adapts well. The only electrical things you have to sort out are the reverse lights, speedo and neutral start switch (which i just looped together), But i have the way i did it written down if you need it. Everthing else just bolts in (except for a hole you need to drill for the master cylinder)..... And the beauty of a halfcut is you have all bits to make yours a complete manual.... nuts, bolts, correct dash, centre console, gear boot etc etc..... Saved me 5000 when purchasing the car, not that i wanted the manual at the time, it just happened that i annihilated the auto haha Mike

I live is WA but i presume as long as the gate is plumbed in before your cat then their should not be any problems Mike

Hey guys..... I am after a garrett gt35 exhaust housing with an ar of .64 (or .6 whatever it is). I presume they are all t3 flanged. Also an external wastegate is required. They dont have to be new but excellent condition. I currently have an ar 1.0 exhaust housing with an internal gate if anyone is willing to swap or buy. Mike.

Yeah.... that was me alright. I remember the emotions getting a bit high when the car wouldnt run properly! Mick and I sat down one sat night over a bottle of something(???) and pondered how to make a plenumn. I wanted a complete one not a throttle body relocation as other ppl have got him to do. So the best we could do was copy the greddy one. It works really well but obviously there are other things to consider now that one has been made. I think it is a bit small plus the runners are a bit short which makes the car suffer down low. But other than that its all sweet..... I dont think he will be making another one in a hurry tho....... i broke his balls for 3 weeks on that one As for slippery.... have i had clearance issues with the drop tank? yes... major problems. I have cleaned it up good and propper several times. I actually split it. But just to clarify..... its only a cover that sits inder the spare tyre well.... but im sure all you real skyline heads know that the fuel tank is under the backseat But i am getting it shortened by about 2 inches to make it more driveable. I managed to scrape it on flat road once ahahahahahahahahaha, stoopid thing! As for the licky, well lets just say its mighty low. When i got to the pit, they didnt like my tint, my 10inch rear rims, the blow off valve location, seats, and the chip in my windscreen.... so im sort of stuck atm, got till the end of march and no time now back at work.... BTW does anybody here have a set of springs to pass the pit?????

Finally I thought i might update you all on the progress of the car....... Zac @ Cypher tuned it for me...... a couple of hours later we got about 310 rwhp on the formaz dyno which is apparently one of the lower reading dynos.... It would have been more but the car kept smoking the tires on the dyno after 6000rpm!!! But the general concensus with my setup is that the GT35R turbo is just too big for the skyline donk. Boost doesnt hit hard until about 5800rpm. But for a bit of fun i went to the drags on Wed night to see how it would go... best of the night was my last 12.65@192km/h. Conditions were terrible (77% hum, 20deg air temp and 30deg track temp) but it got better as the night came to a close. So the next step is to remove the 1.0ar exhaust housing and put an .82ar housing with an external gate. This will bring the 'power band' in a few thousand rpm sooner and then we can squeeze some more power out of it....... but as for now, major exaust manifold leak and yellow sticker, so plenty of work to do
-
The GT35R is garretts brand new turbo developed with ford for the xr6 turbo and yes it is internally gated. This in turn made it a pain to fit and even more of a problem to line up the actuator. But now it is in, i hope it never has to come out! The HKS manifold (i have the cast one) has provision for a wastegate on the top of it. I have just put a plate on it as its not required for me. But i think you will find that the gt35 will fit more comfortably. I think the wastegate hole is only for hks style 4 stud pattern........ An awesome combination for larger turbos as the manifold has 3 long runners and 3 short runners which are separated from each other, thus meaning the short chamber gets to turbo going for the long set. And best of all?? "Its all standard officer". In reply to lumpy.... It was a while a go i spoke to you. I was actually in the process of building the engine and needed some advice. There was no urgency at the time but if my memory serves me right there was something about my car you did not like??? (honestly cant remember). But anyway the car has been booked in for Wed morning now. But i am sure i will be requiring more tuning as i look toward the track and i would only be happy to support the clubs sponsors

Yeah Formaz it is...... My cousins friend has that HIPSI 180sx that cypher did and with the numbers he got out of that sr20 they must be doing something right (something like 500+hp). but i have only heard good things and by talking to them on a tech level they sound okay.... but really you can only try and find out. I spoke to lumpy at Hyperdrive, but he didnt want to tune my car for whatever reason, maybe a combo of to busy and lots of custom work. The plenumn was made by myself and a very good friend of mine, Michael Briffa who has a small fabrication shop in morley. We did everything on my car.... plenumn, intercooler tanks, pipework, seat rails, dump pipe/exhaust, and a few other bits and pieces ill keep secret till its on the road (im sure it will impress). As for flow, well it is even and you can blow through it so id say it will be ok The dyno will tell... but the key is a nice throt, an xf falcon one as it is 80mm, an infinity q45 is more compatible(for the tps etc) but i already had the xf one. But if you guys have any other suggestions for tuners???
-
Well it was a bit of a standardish rebuild gone wrong.... hehehe where do i start.... I-beam rods Venolias pistons HKS step1 cams Ported/polished head Custom 1.7mm head gasket Garrett GT35R HKS lowmount manifold Custom made plenumn XF throt Sard 850cc injectors Powerfc Z32 afm Trust type R BOV Garrett 4" intercooler Trust profec b specII 3.5" to 4" exhaust with hks hi-power muffler No output yet, just run the cams in but will let you know... Its going to Cypher early next week Ill stick in a pic if i can work out how.......

Thanks..... Unfortunately the car is awaiting the all important tune, its is pretty much complete, just need to make my seats fit and off to the dyno..... ill deff be in the next one with it tho

Hey guys and girls.... Just thought i'd introduce myself.... My names michael and im a fellow Skyline owner in WA.. I was wondering if i could get a walk around on the latest and some clarity on a few issues. I attempted to join up to the WA club and when i submitted my request the screen just cleared itself... does it still go through? I am presuming so... Other than that look forward to meeting you all and im happy to share any knowledge as i have just done pretty much a ground up rebuild of my 33.... plus i know a few secrets on getting that 'extra hp' out of a stocker and also been there and done that with a high performance rebuild. So if you need a hand let me know! Mike

I have just heard that new ball-bearing turbos need to seat their seal and have a tendancy to smoke on early use. Apparently this will go with an hour of driving.... is this true???

Hey guys..... I need some help here... I have a 25 with a brand new garrett gt35r turbo connected to a hks lowmount manifold. When starting the car it runs clean for about 30 seconds then starts choofing out blue smoke. I checked inside the manifold and its nice and clean/dry but the dump pipe is full of oil. I have checked to make sure the oil feed is straight as possible as many have told me to do. I know its not the engine as i have rebuilt it. So my theory is this... the oil is pressurising in the turbo during startup and then is leaking out though the turbo. I have made a drain pipe but maybe the turbo sits to low? Maybe it is not draining fast enough? Does anybody know if the return in the block needs to be made bigger or it is restricted? Has anyone seen this or had this issue? Ta Mike Also i have put a bend in the return pipe, not much of a restriction by eye though....

Plates, Turbo, Dump/Front Pipe
SL33KGTS replied to SL33KGTS's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
R33 is different to 32. The 32 has the t28 turbo not the t3 (well that is what my mates 32 has anyway and it is standard) -

Turbo was a t3..... but sold now. Dump pipe is off a series 1 with the t3 exhaust flange. This is the same for s1 and s2. It has integral wastegate and is combined with the front pipe. Still trying to organise photos. Will have by tomorrow. Mike Mike
