Website Ideas and Feature Requests
Jarus replied to PranK's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
Definately I agree with not changing much as the way it is now, is an example to other sites/forums. Simple and functional is always the best, and adding more and more things makes the site more cluttered/confusing and harder to find what you're specifically looking for. The points/ranking system is pretty good, on another forum I frequent they have this, but it's Karma based when someone makes a post helping out another/other forum members, they can give the helper positive karma for the help and yeah the more useful/helpful your posts the more karma you can get works well. -
Where can I find insurance for my import?
Jarus replied to PranK's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Well RACV wanted $3.4K for me for a Series 2 RX-7 (non-turbo, non-import) for full comp and the car was valued for like $3k... joke and a half I've got a couple of quotes from JustCar for insurance I'll add just for curiousity. S14 (Series 1) pretty stock just $1500 stereo (purchase price $15000) Full Comp JustCar = $4.2K VSII Caprice 5.0LT V8 Full Comp JustCar = $2.7K That's just ****ed... both easily as dangerous as each other and around the same value... Anyway.. I just got a quote for what will pretty much be my next car: '90 Nissan R32 Skyline GTS-t (turbo) Purchase Price = $12000 Amount Covered = $11,400 $1500 Stereo System. Premium Amount = $2,200. Excess = $1550 (450 basic, 400 driver under 22, 700 additional excess) That really surprised me.... just got it right then. Not too bad... for a 19 year old male, no driving history (clean) 20% NCB (1 year insurance so far) and in one of Melbourne's worst theft suburbs (sunshine) so it's not too bad for some reason... considering the other quotes. -
I'm buying a Skyline... What should I look for?
Jarus replied to Merli's topic in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ
What you can do is - if you're satisfied with the car after you've inspected it yourself thoroughly and you really like the car and want it. Tell the seller, you'll give him a healthy deposit (so he knows your serious) and pay for an inspection at a mechanic/panel beater and if all is well after that (or at least only a couple of small things are required) then go from there, write out a little contract or something stating that if the bill for anything comes to over like $300 then you will not buy the car and want your deposit back. Something like that, I found a great template to use for that kind of thing in another forum I'll try and find. Basically though the seller shouldn't hesitate in getting the car inspected (especially at your expense) UNLESS they have something major to hide. I know what you mean though, I mean I wouldn't want to thrash someones car on a test drive and then say "no i dont want it" afterwards even though the car is fine just cause I changed my mind on something about the car or something like that, but then again it is a Skyline not a Camry so it shouldn't have a problem really copping a bit of a lead foot every now and then -
Got mine yesterday (Friday) and it looks awesome, Benny was great with the whole procedure and very detailed and informative, look forward to more future group buys by Benny! Thanks mate!

Sorry about that - PM Sent.. with e-mail.

Count me in for one aswell - will be going into an RB30ET R31, since it's universal that wouldn't be a problem would it?

Good stuff guys, look forward to the vids NisMojo - that would be awesome. Thinking of filming some drifts myself too, aswell as Gardo's - his Silvia is a drift machine.

Well here's another R31 owner wanting to dorift Looks like we got a little group forming here lol.. My car's stock atm, so can't do too much in the dry - but the wet is beautiful! I'll be doing some mods soon (just better CAI, Full Exhuast, Timing and maybe computer) so that should be awesome. I'm also thinking about getting one of the Lokka diffs too.. Check it out here, if you haven't already http://www.r31skylineclub.com/forum/index....y;threadid=3455 I might miss out on this group buy which is unfortunate but money's tight, so will have to wait and see. But I would love to buy one at a later date. I'm going to buy some stock R31 Rims and chuck some 185's on 'em and have 'em at the back when I wanna have some fun (on my uncle's private property "of course") hehe.. to make it that bit easier to kick it out - as it's also auto (manual conversion one day, just need the dosh) but yeah, suspension one of the first things too, although it's already a bit hard (harder than stock) but not as hard as I would like. But yeah would love to keep this going with updates guys

JAPSIX - Can I ask what kind of paint that is? 2-Pak? Also - I'm planning to probably not actually spray a car (or I might when I can afford a spray gun/compressor) but I'm planning to have a go at prepping a car and seeing how that ends up to possibly do it to my car and have it sprayed. Got a paddock basher that's perfect to try on. I will let yous know how it goes whenI get around to it. Hey azn_romeo and Craved I would love to see how your cars turn out aswell as more pics of the prep work if you have any as I would love any help/tips and anything hard you've experienced during your prep work.

Dunno about Fishermans Friend but something else that 'allegebly' works is what happened to my old man. He had a few drinks (but spirits) now he wasn't pissed bad, just slightly tipsy I guess. Anyway he 'shouldve' had a reading (most likely above .05 too) but because he had a 'Soothers' lolly (the original flavour (red packet)) he got a reading of ZERO. Btw don't drink and drive!

I reckon they're beautiful, but that may be because I also love the Porsche/Audi shapes that Nissan seem to now be following (a good thing) and the one's at the Motor Show we're BEAUTIFUL! The Silver Nismo version.... man that thing is amazing, one of the best new looking cars ever.

G35 Coupe - looks good in the metal
Jarus replied to Jamezilla's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
The front looks like the new Lexus Coupe SC430 I think it is? Which I don't like at all, doesn't look bad. But my dislike for it is greater than my liking of it. Makes me like the 'R' Skylines so much more. -
That's an awesome car man, and yeah I'd leave the spoiler off too, looks smoother. Not to say they don't WITH spoilers of course. Nice!

My mate just told me a story about some dodgy c**t probably wanting to steal his car. What happened was, he was just driving up my street to come over. This junky ass motherfu**er stops him while he was fixing a VK Commo. Starts just talking and saying, your cars a Nissan right? It's a turbo too yeah? Yep. Goes on saying yeah man it's nice, I've got a car for sale man, it's a turbo Nissan too. Mate asks, what kind of car/engine etc. and the junky cu*t says I don't know. My mate says well what kind of turbo/engine again. Guy says, I don't know man, let me see yours so I can see if it's the same. My mate was gonna open the bonnet but thought **** that wtf is this guy up to. Asks him more and more questions. Like what model is the car, what make? the guy says, I dunno. It's not an actual car the engine and gearbox have been taken out and that's all there is, no car just that stuff. Then some other shit and he said he came from geelong and the cars up in geelong so my mate has to go up there to see it. Then he just said yeah give me a call (on a dodgy number) and I'll come up one day to see it. Farkin wanker probably wants to meet at some ****ed up place and rob my mate.

I swear that's true. What's wrong with you eastsiders? lol

Yeah they cleaned it up not long ago. My brother was working there when there was a Skyline meet He loved it seeing all those Skylines, made him want to upgrade from his R31. Nice times from a stocky man, good stuff!! Yeah first time, that sort of time is expected (the first 2 I mean) but then it seems like you got it going good man, well done!

I would just like to say a big thank you to the organisers (Mznizmo and skyline33!!) for such an awesome cruise, my first one and it couldn't of been better. Loved it! I was Gardo's passenger and that run with the Skylines was awesome, what a mad site it was seeing all those skylines and all great guys too! That purple GT-R was crazy! He planted it in front of us and just ran away soooo fast.... wicked! When we told my brother about the cruise he was pissed he didn't come, and especially when he saw that there we're a few R31's he wouldn't of felt so alone lol! As he has a 31.
