Auto Info Just to let you know that the Stags came out with two types of boxes, both are RC40 but there is an A and a B box. The A box is the most common being available in a lot of Aussie Nissans so parts are readilly available but the B box is only from Japan so some parts will have to come from there ie.. Electric Solenoids and oil filter. The valve body is also different as I purchased one from M V Autos that fits the A but not my B although we didn't try to match it up visually some valves are different. The solenoids seem to be a problem when they get hot and your car will end up having only one forward gear 3rd, when cold the solenoids can check out as OK. Hopefully this problem seems to only afflict low mileage R34/Stagea with Neo and Tiptronic. Driving around in 3rd is a bitch but still capable in rolling starts Gary

I took mine off as well, before someone else did. They do just clip in but only easy to remove in one piece from inside the grill. Sorry won't sell it. Gary

pioneer AVH-P6600DVD System For Sale
Gary2 replied to 355joshf1's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Price ? Pictures ? -
I'm sorry I can't help you but this would be a great idea for everyone to put down there experiences with freight companies good or bad so others know where and who to go to. Maybe it could be turned into a sticky so everyone could have easy access as the For Sale section seems to be very busy. I received a parcel from TNT that had been crushed and the item broken and they didn't care too much. Startrack express seem to do a good job, nothing broken. Pack and Send are ok but the item I received was a bit pricy for Freight. Gary

What is a caliper overhaul?
Gary2 replied to cowie165's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hopefully another couple of handy tips. Check under the seals to see if you have any buildup underneath them and make sure you clean them out. I used a piece of wire flattened at one end and bent at 90 deg to slowly scrape them out, you can use a Dremmel with a wire brush end if you are carefull. When using compressed air to blow the pistons out which is a great way to do it, leave the pads in the calipers to stop the pistons flying out and gradually use something thinner as you go along. Last time I did this was on a bike and the piston came out with a bang and went flying across my w/shop. Scared the shite out of me. It's not a big job but make sure everything is clean, really clean before you reassemble everything and the hardess part is bleeding the buggers afterwards. Gary -
do we have anywhere on this site which translates the blinking lights into something we can underststand. I have found and lost some but they didn't help me out and that was using search but there is so much to go through to hope you can find what you want. My problem is that my AT light flashes at me 16 times, it supposed to tell me about faulty servos but I would like to reconform it. Any help or no help, I would be very thankfull. Thanks Gary

I have brought a second hand indash screen and control box but with no wiring instructions and the bit I am having problems with is the wire to the Handbrake switch and how it's supposed to be connected? Does the wire get earthed out or receive power? The unit is an Alpine CVA-1000E and if someone can get me the wiring diagram would be great. Thanks Gary

Family car what would you get and why?
Gary2 replied to craz0's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Forget the others and go a STAGEA. I too owned a Mazda Astina but gave it to the EX and brought the Stag and what a surprise. Get the series 2 with the Neo motor, I prefer cloth seats espeacially if you live in a hot area and some come with reclining back seats choice of colour is up to you and you won't worry about the volvo jokes after you leave them at the lights. Your biggest problem will be keeping the missus out of it as it can be a very versatile vehicle and if the kids are a problem you can fold down the back seats and Nissan do supply good tie down points if required. Good Luck Gary -
Help needed - under bonnet temps too high!
Gary2 replied to someonestolecc's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Raising the back of the bonnet is an old trick that does work but don't go the washer way as the bolts will come loose but make up some small blocks one for each side I have tried this and it enabled me to run a car with no fan. I'm going to do this to my Stag but first I will try 1 inch and then go from there to see how much of a difference it will make. Give it a go as it dosen't cost much. Gary -
Hey Brazen I got a pearl coloured one but would have liked the black one but they didn't say anything about it. Where did you get that grill and the eyebrows from? I am trying to get some just like that TAKEROS/TAKELOWS but not having much luck, nobody returns my EMails. Gary

Retrofit / Custom Tiptronic on Series 1
Gary2 replied to Burns's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Yeah Mate Allready ordered and paid for just have to wait until he gets some housings back to modify. I don't know if the changes are going to be alot quicker as that could possibly be the electrics but I don't find that a problem as I just change 500 rpm before I want it to change. Also going to fit an oil cooler to it as well to try to keep it a bit cooler, I hope. Will let you know how it goes. Gary -
I went to MJR and missed that yellow one by a couple of days, they said it was going to Perth. They tried to sell me a red series 1 but I really wanted the series 2 and ended up finding a pearl coloured one but next time I drove past MJR they had a black series 2 in there but they were determined to sell me the red one they didn't bother telling me about the black one coming, makes you wonder. I'm happy with the one I have but a yellow one would have been a bit more visual. Gary :bananaman :bananaman

This is for Brazen When and where did you get that yellow stag from? It's definitley not your normal sleeper look car. Gary

Parts manual I brought one off EBay, supposed to be for dealers but I found it not very user friendly if you don't put in the right vin numbers. I put in my stageas vin No but the program didn't want to know me and I wasn't very user friendly at the time to play around too much. Gary

Retrofit / Custom Tiptronic on Series 1
Gary2 replied to Burns's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I have never been a fan of autos but because of circumstances I had to buy an auto and with the tiptronic I'm having a ball. You can just stick it in drive or if you want to have fun you can manually change it especially before you get to a corner or roundabout you just slot it down one and bye bye. Mine in manual mode has yet to change down or up a gear unless I make it do so but I am having trouble getting used to the steering wheel change, to me that is abnormal. Now just waiting for the MV Automatics shift kit. :aroused: Gary -
My main wiring grommet is on the passenger side behind the ABS and I can't even push a coathanger wire through it. The rest of the firewall is covered in sound deadening and I really don't want to pull it off trying to find another spot. Thanks Gary
-
Help I want to put some wires through the firewall but can't find anywhere, have tried going through the main wiring grommet but no go. I don't mind drilling a new hole but where is safe? next to accelerator pedal? or has anyone found another way? I am only putting some gauge wires through and would prefer going through a grommet in the firewall old or new. Thanks Gary

Would you pay $100 to rent an A/F ratio Meter?
Gary2 replied to Sydneykid's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
You never cease to amaze me Sydney Kid in that you are allways prepared to go out of your way to help others, you are or should be made a legend. When I have all my stuff up and ready to go I would love to take you up on your offer and $100 sounds like a good deal. It would also give me a chance to callibrate my new digital fuel mixture meter gauge from silicone chip to see if it can be made accurate enough. Thanks again I allready owe you one for bringing the other silicone chip products to us although I haven't fit mine yet. Thank You Gary -
I own an old 1983 Honda CB1100f so I'm a bit biased towards the Honda. I know that won't help but when you go for a test ride find a bike that feels comfortable, too many people buy racer bikes and then find that they are not that comfy if you only ride around the cities. Good luck Gary Every car owner should own or have owned a bike. :headspin:
