if there are any L's left, i'll take one -
i rekon the cinema option would be better. that way when we all laugh at the really cheesy bits, and let's face it, there will be LOTS of cheesy bits (Maybe some more MOTEC exhausts etc etc etc ) you aren't laughing on your own. and I ain't taking popcorn near my car

It did sound a lot more serious than some other cars out there. And I think that more people were cheering you on than any one else [maybe bacause you weren't a threat] I don't know. It certainly highlighted the fun atmosphere and let people know that if you didn't run 11's, you weren't going to get laughed off the track.

My headlights are faded and cloudy. I have tried all the remedies that everyone says to try but they just look crap. So I want to buy a set of clear headlights. Preferably off a series 2 but I will look at one of the older ones if they are clear. I can pick up or meet anywhere in melbourne. just let me know.

I just wanted to send a big thank you not only to the organisers but to everyone that attended. There weren't any idiots ruining it and everyone had such a positive attitude, it made my first time down the magical 1/4 simple and enjoyable. I can see why people say it's so addictive. I know I wasn't setting the fastest times out there but I was thrilled to just get out there and compete, hell I only won 2 races (for one of them, the WRX I was racing popped out of first gear). I was stoked just to get into the 14's on my first ever attempt at drag racing. And that was in a heavy 4 door with standard turbo and no front mount! I still think I can do better as my trap speeds were up to 99mph. I look forward to next week when we can see exactly what power we've got.

i believe you have to own the car for a full year, and be able to prove it, i.e. registered in your name, insured in your name, if applicable parking permits in your name, etc. also you are not allowed to leave japan for any reason or the count starts again. sucks but that's the rules

i like: WRXSLO and: HSVSUX but my personal favourite:

I think we all would like an R34 gtr, especially one worked by some well known workshop, that would be ideal. B) B) The reason I asked this question, was I am thinking of doing the english teacher thing for a year, nothing long term (so I don't end up like rezz or some of the other people who are sick of japan). There are a few people I know that are thinking along the same lines and I was just wondering what people would like to buy in this situation. my budget is in the 20 to 35 thousand bracket, which I guess is a common amount. but I would still like to hear about some of the cars that don't fit in this bracket. also if anyone has pics, that would be great!

What The Hell Does This Do?
mike lowry replied to mike lowry's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i'll just add that to the list of things the car used to have. there are plugs and wires going all over the place but don't plug into anything! there are even plugs under the front seats that look like the original seats were powered. oh well thanks for your help guys -

I have seen those on other cars and they are so gay! my car is an impul r33r (complete workshop car) and as such no longer has the factory bumpers. maybe I can rig it up to do something else? BTW i've never heard them called parking wands before. thanks for your help -

If you were going to live in japan for a year, and therefore be able to bring your car back with you (without having to comply it!) what would you buy? would you get something unique/unavailable otherwise? or maybe get a cheap/heavily modified GTR? just interested to see what people think

size? where are you?

Whats This Car Worth And Where Would You Get It?
mike lowry replied to stink's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Hi, how's it going? I'm ex tsv myself and wanted to help you out. if you can get down to brisbane, there are heaps of car yards there that stock good cars. some of these cars can be a little over priced as they know how desirable these cars are. I was on christmas leave, wandering around, having a look at some car yards when I found my Impul R33R, a complete tuning shop car (a genuine collector's car) and they didn't even know what they had! I'm just saying there are bargains out there. If you want to go with a private importer, you can save a lot of money, IF you can put up with the wait for the car to arrive. You can also get boned by some dodgy bastards. I'm just saying do your research, get lots of photos and a hard copy list of all aftermarket parts on the car BEFORE it leaves japan and again as soon as possible after it lands. I say this because some of my friends imported, got absolute bargains for thier cars, only to have some f**k steal some guages and the stereo during shipping. Also, don't be wowed by stickers and other useless stuff, they can hide cracks/dents etc. Hope you find something great!!! -
just wanted to show a few of my favourites, don't know why they are all sunset/sunrise though. I took them when I was in East Timor. I hope you all like them.

if you ever want to sell the hachi roku let me know!

I might be available, and an r33 GTST **FOUR DOOR** is so much more easy to get in and out of. Even willing to wear suit

you do appear to be more mature than most drivers I meet and I am encouraged that the message of education is indeed making it through. I want to congratulate your aproach to learning the skill of driving, something a lot of people, of all ages, think is thier god given right. I look forward to seeing you out on the roads

i have to agree that inexperienced and unsupervised drivers in powerful cars is a dangerous mixture but blanket banning young people is just a public relations excercise. While it would be nice to have everyone individually assesed and allowed/disallowed from driving certain cars, it is impossible. Also if they tried to enforce this rule everyone who was disallowed would cry discrimination: saying "they won't let me drive because i'm a wog/arab/asian/male/etc" and sue the govt/assesor just because they don't get what they want. Also some people just shouldn't be allowed to drive AT ALL, but that's a whole other topic I waited six years after getting my p's before buying a powerful car. Ironically, i got in more trouble with my last cars than i have in my skyline. I don't drive like a grandma but I haven't even been pulled over once in the nine months i've owned it. honestly, I shudder to think of some of the things I have done in my last 2 cars and wonder if i would still be here if I had a more powerful car back then. Also not all young drivers are inexperienced. for example I had been driving for nine years before I got my p's (no i'm not an idiot, I grew up on a farm and have been driving since I was eight) I whole heartedly agree with Jamezilla that all people should learn how to handle the car they drive, regardless of what car it is, after all you don't need high performance to be a d**khead. almost all young drivers that are acting like idiots that I see are driving their parent's commodore/falcon/magna. most people who save up and buy thier own car have respect for it and don't want to crash it. Banning the small fraction of younger drivers from driving powerful cars only covers the most visible part of the problem and that looks like the govt is doing something to address the issue. the real problem is that young drivers are dying in record numbers and no-one is addressing the main contributing factor of inexperience. I applaud some insurance companies who require anyone under 25 who own a jap import to complete an advanced driving course before they will insure them, but this is still voulantary. The main thing you have to remember is that in our society, laws are made for the lowest common denominator (the most stupid), and that while most people are law abiding citizens and behave responsibly, it's the idiots that are caught on tv, arguing with police because "doing a burnout isn't hurting anyone," that ruin it for the rest of us. after all, the only way to punish a small group without apearing to be unfairly targeting anyone, thereby opening themselves up to law suits, is to punish everyone
