OK, Time to post my results... I added roil to both engine and gearbox. Engine: - after 100 - 200 km, I noticed it was actually harder to start the car... - after 400km, it went back to how it was.... weird - after 500km, I noticed the engine felt a lot smoother at low-mid revs - after 700km, even better. Also noticed there is a lil more power / torque at lower revs, just enough to actually feel the difference. - Oil pressure now is much more stable, and the car feels almost like new... hmmm Gearbox: I've done about 300-400km with the stuff in I have a notchy 2nd gear, and developed a crunchy 4th gear. I can avoid these however by leaving the gear selector in neutral for 0.5 sec before selecting those gears. With roil it is much less likely to happen... infact, when I think about it, I cant remember my 4th gear crunching lately, and I have been putting it straight in! 2nd is still notchy though... This is what I expected of the product at best when I bought it, and it is what I got... so no complaints here. The most impressive thing to me, is the fact that my engine feels very smooth now.

tyre pressure for 225's??
Zahos replied to (B1) MR_fanny's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah, my hancooks are rated at 42 psi max. (225/60/16) My tyre placard recomends 36 psi for that size tyre, so that is what i keep them at. -
Does look interesting, and yet rather simple too. could reduce the boosted 25t with standard ecu flat spot it it does what it claims. curious to know what effect it would have on a car with well tuned A/f ratio's

All I can say from personal experience: BP Ultimate: had BAD problems 2 out 5 times with car stalling and loss of power Synergy: Inconsistent, sometimes VERY good, sometimes bad Optimax: Consistent, car runs best with optimax always... I have tried time and time again with BP Ultimate b/c of other forum members testimonials, but with unpleasant results every time, and as mentioned 2 bad incidents. Optimax works well for me, so I just stick to it now...

If any1 is looking for a good panel beater, try SuperFinish, near the corner of south rd and warrigal rd Moorabbin. I picked my car up from there last night and I was VERY impressed. VERY friendly and professional service, and decent turnaround time. I am very fussy when it comes to spray jobs and panel beating as I have done some myself in the past, and the job is flawless. Before I took it to them, I hung around and checked out the quality of the repairs done to other cars coming out, and every job was impressive. They even touched up a few extra bits for no charge as they are perfectionists. Price was reasonable (relative to quality of work) too... although I didn't pay a cent as my insurance company took care of it. Anyway, 9553 1311 is the number, and speak to Greg or Con.... and tell em George with the Pearl Red R33 sent you BTW: I am in no way affiliated with them, just a very happy customer...

Hey Rob, didn't you get my PM? I have dump+front pipe all in good nick! I never had the heat shield, so I guess you don't need those... but I also have the cat back. I am close by in cheltenham, so PM me and let me know if you are interested. They are just collecting dust in my garage, so no reasonable offers refused...

i have been trying to source one from wreckers here in melb, but I am yet to either find one or find a wrecker that is willing to part wih it seperately.... (R32 actuator that is) I might get a HKS item instead...

Yeah I had the same thing, it felt a little funny on the way to work (~40km), and I almost didn't make it home... It happened as got a near perfect launch the previous day, and burnt the stock clutch from excess slippage on take off. The was still a bit of meat on the clutch, but I had glazed it so bad, there was barely any friction. My advice is NOT to accelerate hard under any circumstances to prolong it until you have a chance to change it, otherwise your car will soon be undriveable...

Actually 215m is with ideal road conditions and ideal high perfomance tires operating at maximum efficiency. Realistically that formula yields about >240m for minimum stopping distance for tires on an everyday driven street car. Even better....

accident solutions - any1 heard of them?
Zahos replied to Zahos's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I dont really wanna do any shifties, b/c I know I am in the right... besides it goes against my morals. If I did, I would be just as bad as him. I believe what goes around, comes around! My evidence shows that there is no way I could have cut into his lane the way he tells it b/c if I did, I could not have hit the gutter the way I did. (I have photo's of the damage to my rim, and the mark it left on the gutter). Also if I came out of Barkly st like he says, the accident would have happened well after the intersection considering the nature of the damage (our cars were side by side, and for me to turn out and have the same - or similar vector as his it is impossible at the point of impact) I changed lanes while there were still broken lines, if I changed on the unbroken line then it would be different, so I have nothing to worry about there. Changing on the unbroken line before an intersection, or changing in the intersection is illegal. All the evidence is looking very favourable towards my statement at the moment, but you never know how these things turn out unfortunately. I will go to a cop shop and make a statement, and see if they will let me submit my report I have compiled (about 8 pages long) I should have said I thought he was under the influence, b/c his driving behaviour (specially braking hard when he noticed the booze bus) does imply that to me, and thats the truth. Thanks for all your feeback guys, much appreciated! -
accident solutions - any1 heard of them?
Zahos replied to Zahos's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Nick, should I go to a police station now and make a report? Of does it only count if I make it on the night? Like I said, I called the police and INSISTED they come, but b/c there were no injuries, they wouldn't! -

Zahos replied to Zahos's topic in General Automotive Discussion
yeah, I called the police, but they wouldn't come b/c there were no injuries. He was very reluctant to have the police come at the time... I was waiting to change lanes (into the left). I did it all legally: - indicated for an adequate period of time - checked to see if it were safe to change lanes - then changed lanes before removing my indicator. This guy was slowing to 30km/h way before the intersection so I wanted to overtake. We had passed a booze bus earlier and he stomped on the brakes wuite abruptly... so he his driving behaviour was strange for quite a while... I feel quite confident b/c I have pictures of many things that can disprove what I think he is going to say, and proof of other things that will proove that his story is inconsistent. I dont understand people that cannot take responsibility for their own actions... I could never lie and do this to someone when I know I am at fault... I dont think there will ever be any punishment harsh enough for these sorts of people! -
Hey all, Of Wednesday night I was involved in a car accident where the other driver cut across into my lane without indicating, and whilst crossing an intersection. He sideswiped my front guard, and pushed me into a gutter... Anyhow, he is not claiming responsibility, and cheat his way out of it, and has called upon the services of a company called accident solutions. Curious to know if anyone has had dealings with them before, and also wondering if there will be anyone bias towards the other driver as he is funding their services? If anyone in Melb is curious to know the intersection, it is intersection of Alma road, Barkly St, and Princess St in St Kilda. This intersection is notorious for drivers cutting across lanes.... Below are diagrams of what happened... I don't suppose anyone was driving past that night.....

how long is a piece of string???? i think there are too many things to take into consideration to calculate this... Maybe call holden and ask them, as I am sure they would have these sorts of results when they do their testing.

Hey Adrian, I found I was worse off with the 7 heat range. For a daily driver, they fouled a-lot quicker before I got my SAFC than the 6 heat range would. The standard heat range for an RB25 is 5, so 6 is one cooler. I would disagree with getting the 7's unless you got quite a few mods 200rwkw++, and stick with 6's for basic mods, and 5's if completely stock...

difference is BCPR6E = copper, resistor, V-groove BCPR6ES = copper, resistor... (no V-Groove) The V-groove helps produce a better spark as there are more edges on the electrode. I would prefer BCPR6E over BCPR6ES....

R33 Fuel Caps. No 'PSHHHHHHHH" on opening!!??
Zahos replied to superspit's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i would have just tried some teflon tape before i put the spout back on... i dun thin the preassure will cause a performance issue, but leaking vapours from the fuel may??? -
R33 Fuel Caps. No 'PSHHHHHHHH" on opening!!??
Zahos replied to superspit's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
it's not the actual plastic cap, but the hunk of metal the cap srews into, was not sealed when it was changed over at compliance... u have to get one the right size, and then seal it somehow... dont use silicone though. -
yeah, going by the 2 door R31's, I'd say the jap R31 interior is much nicer that the locally made one. The local Ti interior was a shocker, especially the seats. The silhouette interior was ok, especially the GTS silhouette.... I was contemplating the idea of an RB25 or RB30DET in a local wagon, but I just dont have the time... What are the prices like ont eh import wagons, on the road???

Spark Plugs and other Performance Parts
Zahos replied to greddy_monstor's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
if your car is stock of close to stock ( < 200rwkw ) I would not be using a heat range of 7 They will foul way too quick, and your car will be running like crap at the 5000rpm mark if you have higher boost and no aftermarket management of some sort. At these power levels, stick with a heat range of 6, as they will stay cleaner longer (In my experience anyhow)
