Can you confirm Greg that it is in fact a mineral based oil? Does it say so the bottle?

I got the same prob too... The way I stop it (temporarily) is push the ^ button once (to turn temp up) then the v button a few times (to turn temp down) you can do this with the unit on or off doesn't matter, and it stops it for a little while...

Why not?? When I had the stock pads in my car, I had to REALLY stomp on the brakes to bring it to a very quick stop...... Then when I got the Racebrakes pads in (which are made in melbourne) I could lock the front wheels up at 160km/h...... That comment is a little naive, sure in general, the japs make better stuff, but that doesn't mean EVERYTHING made here is crap.... Take it on a case by case basis. We should (and most are) utilise these forums, and ask others of experiences they have had with various products, whether they came from japan, or from some mob across town! So in response to your questions krzysiu, I dun think it is worth it for the standard pads. Even Bendix Ultimates feel much better than the standard pads, and they are rated to work at higher temps too. I got mine for $100 from autobarn on Nepean hwy, (brighton or moorabin) As for the rotors, I'm pretty sure dba had a slotted replacement for the R33 at a cheaper price than what you got quoted. I wouldn't get the cross drilled, and they are more prone to cracking at higher temps. Porsche and other manufacturers that have cross drilled brakes as standard/option on their cars actually forge them with holes, making them structurally stronger. Drilling them is apparenly no good. http://www.dba.com.au/rotors_slotted.asp is the link to the slotted discs. As predator said, supercheap stock them, so get a price from them first and let us know... Zahos

results of my R33 v 2000 R8 ClubSport
Zahos replied to pooski's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I'd say the MOST important thing for a boosted R33 is to sort your A/F ratio's out! Invest in a SAFC, or PowerFC if u can afford it. The SAFC by far made the biggest difference for my car. With the mods you have, you should see some huge gains - 20 - 30rwkw. Do a search on SAFC, and see what other peoples feedback has been once their A/F ratios were sorted. -
Also try one of these http://www.dynamco.com.au/Sales/nostart_001.html A very good idea me thinks.....

look out for rust along the top of he windscreen also the auto boxes in the series 3 skylines were a bit shonky. Most of them don't last. Other than that they are great cars. I had mine for 6 - 7 years, and the whole time the only problem I had was a lown exhaust manifold gasket.
-
I know it's a bit of a hastle, but you can buy a universal one, and grind/file it down to the shape of your pillar. The end result can be quite nice if you do a good job. Have a look at mine http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...read.php?t=8457 Got it from MAKSPEED in the city.

r33 GTSt intercooler upgrade qu..
Zahos replied to raz0r$harP.UK's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Nah, got someone else to do it on a dyno. After watching it once though, I think I could do it myself now on a dyno. Anyway..... I'll tell you something else though.. I went to someone who claimed he could "street tune" the SAFC for $50 (coz a dyno tune was over $100, and i had no job and was a tight arse). I told him I wanted the hesitating at 5500 rpm that was so common to boosted R33's sorted out. This guy did the worst tune, basically did stuff all difference to A/F ratio's, but he wound the timing right back to 10 deg, so I wouldn't feel the hesitation... Needless to say the car ran like SH1T!!! Smooth, but slower than in stock form! So anyhow, I wound the timing up to 17deg, boosted to 11psi, and took it to get it dyno tuned. Needless to say I was very happy with the results afterwards. If u aren't experienced or confident enough to tune it yourself (and u r at the risk of wasting ur engine if you lean it out too much), take it to a dyno where u can have a lot more confidence in your tune.... -
That's what I was thinking, coz there is no f'n way I am going to a club.... I'm over it too... I guess St Kilda beack would be busy, as u should be able to see fireworks, and it has that massive lawn area for ppl to stuff around. Anyone been to the beach for NYE here before? How was it? funky's idea sounds OK too.... We were thinking of a house party, but then we thought better to be somewhere with a bit of crowd for the countdown....

Poll: Oh no, I've become a rice boy! should I fix it?
Zahos replied to Scotty's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Not that I dun like it, but when I am looking at getting something for myself, If I dun like it right away, and I am in 2 minds, it is b/c sub-conciously I am trying to convince myself to get it for whatever reason it may be (eg: can't b f'd looking anymore, haven't found anything better, etc). In this case I think it is b/c it has been done already, and although he doesn't DISlike it, it is not what he really wanted... I've done this, before and many other people have before.... But if I were in this position, I would be happier with a white dash rather than a broken dash! If it is growing on you, then keep it till you're sick if it, then get what u really want.... -
Yeah, coz women with teeth never get any attention these days....
-
well, the last idea we had was renting a mini-bus, and driving around town... We got a mate who will screw almost anything when blind drunk, and a video camera. I was hopeing to find some toothless chick for him, and make my own version of the bang bus. Ten I'll have an applicable image to post...... Only thing is, our women may not be 100% on this idea..... dunno why
-
Me, and a whole group of guys and gals have no f'n idea as to what to do for NYE yet..... Thing is, we all can't agree on one thing.... So I was wondering what u guys and gals r doing in melb for NYE, so I could maybe get a few ideas.... Zahos

I'd say go to Hoyts LaPremiere at Chaddie if you want comfort and picture/sound quality... Gold class has much more comfy seating, but the screens are too small.... In La Premiere, there is a seperate section with much larger seats (very comfy), and u get all the popcorn, softdrink u want. Anyway my point being is that there is a section at the back of one of the larger cinema's, a screen more than double that of a gold class cinema.

If you haven't made up your mind, then u dont like it, though you don't hate it.... But most importantly.... you don't like it! Well that's what I've gathered from your responses..... Don't settle on second best... Pay for what you want, don't just get what u paid for.. (make sense? ) -
r33 GTSt intercooler upgrade qu..
Zahos replied to raz0r$harP.UK's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I managed 200 rwkw on the stock turbo (but like everyone says, the dyno could be reading a little high). I also have a VR4 cooler with larger inlet / outlets on the end tanks (as the originals were only 2" I think). Other mods are pneumatic boost controller (as seen on autospeed.com), K&N hi-flow panel filter element, 3" turbo back exhaust, and SAFC with A/F ratio's at 12:1. When I added the boost controller and ran car at higher boost I felt a small power difference When I dropped a hi-flow filter element I felt the car was struggling less at hi rpm. (I had a pod filter on before that, which felt NO different to a hi-flow panel filter, so only get a pod if u like the noise it makes..... I hate it though, so I got rid of it) When I put the cat back exhaust on I felt almost no difference When I put dump/front pipe I felt a little difference When I put intercooler on I felt NO difference When SAFC was tuned, I felt a HUGE difference. I'd say don't expect too much out of your mods until you sort your a/f ratios out though.... With all my mods (minus SAFC) I managed a top of 164rwkw. My A/F ratio's were all over the place, and car ran like CRAP after 5000rpm. tuning my A/F ratio's helped me get the most out of all my mods, so make sure that (or aftermarket tuneable ECU if u can afford it) is on your list.... Thought I'd post my experiences up since your goal is same/similar to what I set out to achieve. Hope you find the info useful! Zahos -
Gettin' a little defensive there ay Scottie? I know the truth hurts mate, but no-one is out to get ya. We're all one big happy Skyline family here, and no one thinks of you any differenly just b/c your R32 interior resembles that of a VN commonwhore. (also no pun intended) Zahos

the vinyl/velour/cloth trim you see on the inside of the door. It comes off as one piece.
-
Once you've removed the door trim, you will have to position the window at a certain point where you can access the bolts to remove it. It half way down or something, but just start doing it, and you will easily figure it out.

Like everyone says.... personal choice I was in the EXACT same position u r in (had R31 silhouette, and wanted to upgrade), but I made up mind rather quick..... I picked the R33 for the following reasons: - I'm 192cm tall, and the R32 (with sunroof) was too squashy - You spend more time looking at the interior of the car than you do the exterior, so get something you like. Personally, I can't stand the cluster of the R32 coz it reminds me of a VN commodore. The R33 interior is more comfortable.... - Newer car - And IMHO, I think it looks much nicer. The main reason I considered the R32, was the cost factor. If I got that, I would have had more money for mods. So make sure you weigh up all the things that matter to YOU before you make a decision...

I have a loud squeel coming from my car when it starts, only it only happens when the engine is cold: ie, not driven for a couple of hours or more. It is the starter motor, but I have been too slack to fix it! I've had it for about a year now, and it only gets worse....
-
1. As stated above, your throw out bearng needs greasing / changing. 2. I think all cars smell when you turn the air-con off and leave the fan on. I knew why, but forgot. Perhaps someone else can explain.
-
Nah not harsh.... you said yourself there is a similarity....
-
Well it all comes to personal taste..... I don't like the look of R32 GTS-t's, but the R32 GT-R with the better grille, headlights and pumped guards looks much nicer... The R32 cluster is a SHOCKER! Looks like a VN when you are in the drivers seat, which I cant stand! The R33 GT-R is my fav, I think it looks more aggressive than all of them! R33 GTS-t's look really nice too (except with standard grille, and that really short front bar that came standard) R34's.... Still think the 33 looks better outside, though the R34 interior is much nicer! The R34 just looks funny/incomplete to me in the 2 door! The R34 4 door though looks nice! I think it looks much better than the 2 door! Well, that's my personal preferance.... Oh, and S13's are butt ugly.... and the S1 S14 front end too! So if people with S13's think R33's are ugly, it don't bother me none, coz in my opinion, R33's look the goods, and S13's are off chop! Especially the bland interior they have too.... See..... everyone has their own opinion!
-
YES definately soak them well... I soaked mine for about 10 mins, constantly spraying heaps on, and they came off, went on OK! You will also need to jack the car up and get to 1 or 2 bolts from under the car if I remeber correctly. Do it in the following order, simply because it involves less stuffing around when it comes to holding the bits steady when doing/undoing bolts. Removal - remove from turbo 1st, then cat Install - bolt onto cat first (not too tight), then onto turbo And make sure you take your time tightening / undoing bolts!
