Both times I was followed, was by crappy old shit boxes. An old 323 (80's model), and then an old 626(80's model again). When I got followed in the R31 though, I'm pretty sure though is was b/c I was fooling around with someones g/friend... But, dont be suprised... it's not always cops! I had 2 friends been followed, then had their cars taken! One of them, stopped off at home to ldrop off his keaboard, as he didnt want it in the car. When we got out... his car was gone! I'm not saying it happens often, and that we should all become very paranoid and spend half our time looking for cars that may be following, but be aware that it happens.
-
I had it happen to me once too, about a year ago. I didn't realise I was being followed until I turned into the road (which is dead at night), that leads to my street. So I drove around in circles to see if they would still follow... and they did. So eventually I parked in someone else's driveway, then came running out of the car with the club lock.... Unfortunately they drove away..... I've also had this happen when I used to have a stock R31 silhouette... Trust no one!

Well thay are for sale again.... I had my discs machined last week, and the pad surface has been rubbed back so that they are flat... I haven't driven the car much at all in the past 2 weeks, maybe 3 times a week, so they are still almost new. Reason for sale is the same: I dont like the noise... $70 this time... In case ur wondering, they will fit R32, R33, s14, z32 four pot calipers.... Perfect if u want some pads for the track. pm me, prefer melb buyers still, but if u really want them interstate, then u can pay cod... Zahos

Shell helix Ultra has a viscosity rating of 5W-40. The first number indicates the viscosity of the oil at low operating temperatures, and the second indicates the viscosity grade at 100C. Check this website for more details: http://www.viperclub.org/articles/oilfaq.html 5W-40 is perfectly fine for Skylines, and I've noticed the Shell oils stay cleaner longer than the Mobil oils in my experience. (Not that Mobil 1 isn't good. That too stays very clean). But I dont EVER recomend Castrol mineral oils for ANY car! That has a tendancy of getting dirty very quickly! I dont know about their synthetic oils though... Zahos

Yeah, Blackburn nissan had the pads for an R33 in stock... about $138 i think.... Some dealers will get parts in for you too, just a matter of trying...
-
Yeah, I'll get it cheaper anyhow.... A mate of mine is a cabinet maker, and buys aluminium from them for kickboards. He will get them through his company for me.... Thanks Zahos

I went to nissan today to get a set of S14 brake pads, as I have been told they are the same for an R33, but the part numbers were different. A closer inspection showed the backing plate was identical, but the actual pad itself wes different. I have attached a sketch of the brakes. Now what worries me, is the angle of the brake pad, and that there is effectively less surface area. Has anyone else gotten the original nissan items? Should I order the part specific for the R33? (it was like $10 difference)

Yeah, a mate gave me their number last week, but all of their trade centres were closed until today... Will call them... Thanks for reminding me.... Jay, what about the alubond stuff you mentioned. Where can I get that from?
-
Hey ppl, I'm still trying to find some aluminium sheeting, or alubond to make the partition with....... I got the foil backed foam as meggala suggested, but I cant seem to find any1 that can help me with a rigid aluminium sheet.... I've been to several hardware stores, called several aluminuim places listed in the white pages, and no one can help me.... Is it just pure coincidence that I happened to ring all the knobs that cant help me, and completely missed all the ones that can???? Anyway, if someone could tell me where they got some from, it would be most appreciated. Zahos

Remeber... I didnt put the adhesive on all surfaces, and I'm not sure I let it al dry properly.... I'm starting to think that it only happens on my drivers side, so the adhesive may have helped... I am taking it to racebrakes monday to get my discs machined, and I will see if they can put the adhesive on for me all over. Will let you all know if it makes any difference...
-
I live in avondale heights, and work in brighton... I'm always in between these areas... Well they are still on the car until next week anyway, so no rush, think about it until then... Zahos
-
No I didn't get them machined..... I suppose I should, but I dont see it making that much of a difference... I'm not neg on price... I think $42 off the price for pads 2 weeks old is fair... Zahos

Are they the twin piston type? I think the guy said that they are the same as the Z32 TT. Anyway, check this thread out, there is a pic there.. my brakes look the same.. http://forums.skylinesaustralia.com/showth...s=&threadid=705
-
I'm not sure, but I think they are different! Try searching the forums, I think was was clarified in the past....
-
I've had them in for almost 2 weeks now, they are still fairly new... Reason for sale: I dont like noisy brakes... Prefer Melb buyers... Cost $132 sell: $90 PM, or email me Zahos

Sure.. They grab VERY well compared to the standard nissan items, and bendix ultimates (haven't tried anythinf else myself). So far (in the 1.5 weeks I've had them) I've noticed that they dont fade as they heat up... and they perform very well at high speeds (I managed to lock up my front wheels at 160km/h). But the only draw back is the noise (which I cant stand)!!!! So if you want some, you can buy mine if you like (I've had them in 1.5 weeks so far, street use only). They are virtually new, and I'll knock a fair bit off the price too!
-
Braking power is excelent, but the noise I can live without! Did you bed them in as soon as you installed them? I was told to do 5 - 8 HARD stops from 100-60 to bed them in, otherwise they develop some sort of glaze...???? I didnt do this until 1 week later! Have you tried the adhesive as well??? How long have you had them in?? Sorry about the bombardment of questions, but they are really starting to annoy me....
-
Yeah, that is the brake adhesive I said that I put on... although I didnt out it everywhere... Below is a pic, detailing the surfaces I cleaned, and put the brake adhesive (anti squeel onto). For the outer brake pad, I did every surface. For the inner brake pad I did every surface EXCEPT for the pistons. Will this make a difference? If it did, then I dont think if would squeel this loud, as the surface the pistons touch, did have brake adhesive applied onto them... Does any1 believe it is b/c I didnt bed the pads in like I was told to???
-
Before any1 gets upset, I have searched here, and on SDU, and haven't found the info I'm after... I have recently put some RaceBrakes RB74 pads in the front. The squeel like nothing I've ever heared before once they have warmed up!!!! Below is what precautions I took to ensure they dont squeel much, and also things I didnt do... I transfered the shims from the old pads over.... I put some of the pbr glue for brakes on both sides of all shims, and on the pistons of the outer half of the caliper. Unfortunately the pistons on the inner half missed out b/c I couldn't get to them... I was told to bed the brake pads in by doing 5 - 8, firm 100 to 60km/h stops to begin with... but I put them in on a Sunday night, as the old ones were wearing thin, and I didnt have any time to do this until a week later.... So my question is.. is there anything I missed, or anything I can do now, to stop this horrid noise from haunting me??? I'm too embarassed to press the brakes sometimes, as the noise is ear piercing..... Zahos
-
Oh, and another question I have for those with a CAI partition.... Did it do anything for the noise made by a pod filter, or is it just as loud?? I cant stand the noise... :cuss:
-
no worries, I'll grab the same stuff then.. Thanks again...
-
thanks meggala, I'll check it out. Will they also have the aluminium (or anything that suits) to make the outer box?
-
Hey guys and gals, just wondering what materials ppl used for making the outer case of their CAI partition for their pod filters, and also what material was used for insulation? I was thinking of aluminium sheets for the box, and those silver sun shades for the insulation (the type that have air pockets to insulate). If people have better suggestions (especially for the insulation) , and places I can get these things (Bunnings is absolutely crap, as I can never find anything I want there), I would appreciate that. Thanks Zahos

mine sounds like someone's squeezing a ducks balls!!! If that makes any sense...

I have the same problem and it is not a loose belt. If it were a loose belt, it would happen more often, not just on cold startups. It would be very evident when revving the car on a cold night, when the engine is cold too, and this doesn't happen.
