You could be right, I don't know... I just remember when I tried pulling it didnt come out, so I pushed in and pulled up as hard as I could and it came off...
-
Here is a crappy pic that will help you understand
-
i think you pust the seat towards the back of the car, before you lift.... HARD! Seriously, just lift as hard as you can, you wont break anything.... Then the backing of the seat has 2 bolts at the botton, and after you get those off, list the seat, before pulling out towards you. Might be easier if you start on one side (when lifting and pulling out), then do the middle, then the other side rather than trying to pull the thing out in one go...

Most of us allready know this, but here is an article someone had sent to me... Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. was making its last iconic Skyline GT-R "supercar" on Thursday and plans to consign its once-popular Silvia coupe to the scrap heap for good later this year as sales skid. Japan's number three automaker is turning to more economical models to replace the old brands, with sales of its recently revamped Fairlady Z sports car expected to rocket, said Nissan spokesman Gerry Spahn. Although production of the current Skyline GT-R is over, it is not the end of the road for the two-door performance classic as Nissan is working on a next generation version. But the launch date could be years away as the company examines a number of concept designs, engineering platforms and profitability reports. "There has been no time scale, (but) I don't think it will be in 2003," said Spahn. In contrast, the Silvia, one of Japan's best known sports car marques, has definitely reached the end of its 27-year lifespan and production will cease by the end of the year. "Sales for the Silvia have dropped off significantly," said Spahn. A mere 6,257 Silvias were sold in the year to March, compared with 81,201 units sold in calendar 1989, at the height of its popularity. Nissan, 44.4 percent owned by Renault SA of France, is reducing production costs by making different vehicles based on the same platform, whereas both the Skyline GT-R and Silvia were made on exclusive chassis. "Names may go but we will meet the demand with new cars," said Spahn. On June 30, Nissan launched a revamped version of the FairLady Z -- the first Japanese sports car when it was launched in 1969 -- hoping to achieve worldwide sales of 42,000 units in the first year. In contrast, combined sales of the Silvia and Skyline GT-R came to less than 10,000 units last fiscal year to March. Production of the last model of Fairlady Zs for the US market stopped in 1996 and for Japanese customers in August 2000. "The (new) Z-car is a pure sports car, high performance but affordable at three million yen (25,210 dollars). The Silvia was more of a sporty coupe and there is not a market for that," Spahn said. "We have not abandoned the sports car market, we are making better and more affordable cars," he insisted. Analysts applauded the move as Nissan's traditional sports car line-up had been a losing combination for years. But they admitted car fanatics would be less than enthusiastic at the demise of such well-known brands. "It makes sense as they were not selling high volumes," said HSBC auto analyst Christopher Richter. "The ultimate aim of Nissan is to make money. "There will be disappointment among enthusiasts but the problem is that there are not enough of them around to justify production of that car (the Skyline GT-R)." Japan's auto market is dominated by entry-level mini and compact cars as customers grow reluctant to splash out on more luxurious vehicles amid a deep economic slump, analysts said. Mini and small cars control about 50 percent of the market while sports cars have a mere "single digit" share, Richter said. Since its launch, also in 1969, the Skyline GT-R has built up a passionate cult following over the years, both at home and abroad, thanks to ndividually-shipped models -- Nissan has never sold it in overseas markets. Numerous websites are dedicated to the car. With its trademark twin set of round rear lights and between 276-400 brake horsepower under the bonnet, it can give far more expensive European supercars a run for their money from a standing start. "I think this is by far the best car on earth," wrote one fan on a Skyline website, referring to a 1999 Skyline GT-R R33, which accelerates from 0-60 miles per hour (96 kilometres per hour) in a breathtaking 5.2 seconds, and reaches 100 mph (160 kph) in 12.9 seconds. "It handles like a go-kart and is fast as hell," he said. Nissan has said it aims to introduce 12 new vehicle models this year.

Yeah, I've read that they flow well, but wen I saw the size of it I was a little dissapoited. Searching on the net though I've found that a few ppl have used these coolers and are pumpng out more power than I plan on getting ultimately, so that's reassuring! I'm not planning on a bigger turbo, but will probably hi-flow my turbo when it dies... The inlet and outlet diameter's are small, aout 2 inches from the looks of it. I'll have to get them cut off and get biger pipes welded on. I got if from http://www.performanceforums.com/ These coolers range from $200 to $600 (usually arond the $300 - $400 mark). I've read quite a few good things about them, but I haven't seen any data to support those comments, which is why I was a little concerned. BTW meggala, do you know any1 in our area that can do the pipes for me cheap? The only place I can think of is highpoint mufflers...

What do people know about these intercoolers in terms of flow and their ability to dissapate heat? I've just bought one and its not as big as I thought it would be. It measures up to be about 580mm long (including end tanks - haven't measured the core myself as yet), 210mm high and 70mm thick. I've tried numerous searches on google, but I haven't really come up with anything yet..... Zahos

I dont know about the 7 series BM's, but I know the 3 and 5 series bonnets opened up the other way.... I presume the 7 series are the same though... Hey 1GTR2GO, what car was this motor in???
-
Yeah, that would work just as well. What kind of timing light do you have? - The type that taps into the lead, or - The type with the magnet loops, that wraps around your lead? If you have the later, then dont bother with a lead on coil pack no 1, and use the wire on top of the igniter module...

Possible Intercooler 4 Sale
Zahos replied to R31^tUrBo_cHiCk's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I'm interested, but depending on the size. I dont want it too big -
I'd imagine its the price too. A lot of stock R33's are going for under $20K now.... There is just so many of them for sale, more than what they are in demand! I'd imagine the best price you could hope for would be low to mid 20's. I know it sucks, especially if you bought it 2 years ago when they were really expensive (in comparison), but there is not much you can do about it...

Yeah I wanted to come, but my missus has my balls in a bun now organising our engagement and wedding.... and worst of all...... . . . . . . It may be a girls best friend, but it is also mans worst enemy........ The diamond ring!!!! Think about what I could do to my car with that money I'll be spending on that ring!!!

Tropo: thanks for that, but still not what I'm looking for. That is a cold air box for a pod filter, I wanted to make a cold air feed for the standard air box. Meggala: I had a look on your site, but couldn't find anything... Anyhow, its a easier for the R32, b/c the air passes from bottom to top, so you could easily cut a hole in the bottom section to put another pipe in. The R33 is top to bottom, and there isn't much room on the airbox lid to slap another pipe in... Thanks anyway guys GTST: Did you manage to find the link, or was it the same as the link that troppo posted? Zahos

Was it here on SAU or on SDU??? I've been keeping my eye on this forum since it started and haven't seem anything, so I assume to look in SDU.... Thanks!

Hey ex-static If u dont mind me asking, where are you getting the clutch done, and approx how much $$ is it going to set you back? Zahos
-
Has any1 done this to an R33??? It's harder on the 33 b/c the air goes from top of filter to bottom instead of bottom to top! It would be a real prick to get a pipe on that unless you redesign the lid of the airbox! any1??? Zahos

I've allready considered that, but now I dont think that is the problem at all. In fact, I dont even know if it is comming from the belts / pulleys at all now! I got off my lazy ass and had a look on the weekend, and my diagnosis was inconclusive... (ooo big words) Anyhow, perhaps I was a little vauge when describing the problem, but the noise i get is not one long squeel, and it wont even sqeel when i rev it when cold. The sqeeks i get are 2 - 4 short sqeeks, each only a fraction of a second long... hmmm.. I wonder if it could be the thrust bearing... I still get the sqeeking noise from my clutch so I know that the thrust bearing definately needs greasing. Has any1 had this problem at all?????
-
Tell me when you are coming though, I dont want to be sleeping and miss out on it... otherwise I might have to do it myself  Hey if you want more examples of how lazy I am: - One time (at band camp) I went to the gym, and as soon as I goth there I pulled up a nice comfy bench (the adjustable type) and had a 20 min nap - Another time at work, I sat in a desk facing a corner, loaded a page up on the PC with SH*T loads of tiny text, put my elbows on the table, my chin in my hands and had a 30 min nap... aaaahhhhhh.... Naps feel much more relaxing when you're being paid for them And unfortunatly, being a code monkey means i have to type with more than 2 fingers! So when r u coming???
-
Still too much effort... If you want to know the extent of my lazyness, I once watched a show that I couldn't stand for over 30 mins b/c I couldn't be stuffed changing the channel! The worst part about it is that I was holding the remote in my hand, but b/c I was so comfortable I didnt want to move! Anyhow, I'll check it tommorow I guess Thanks Cam
-
AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGG Dont put it like that, b/c I still can't be stuffed , but I kinda feel obliged to fix it now.... WAIT! I have an idea... just cut the AC belt off! this requires only minimal effort, and problem solved! What do I need to do? Can I just get bearings, or do I have to get the pulley as well? Some wreckers are pricks and make you buy the whole thing! Is there an equivalent car I can grab this off, or it doesn't really matter??? Zahos
-
Yeah, I narrowed it down to one of those too! Once I had realised that, it didnt bother me anymore... I mean sure the noise gets on my nerves, but knowing that it's not really anything serious draws my attention away from fixing the problem... barneyrubble: Does yours happen every time you start the car, or only when the weather is cold - ie: early morning? Thats the only time it happens for me, otherwise throughout the rest of the day it wont do it, and it is only when I start the prick! Cam: Did your bearings seize completely on the AC compressor? As in - it was squeeling continuously? Zahos

As the engine gets warmer, does it start to go away? I had a similar problem in my R31 once, and it turned out to be the exhaust manifold gasket. The gesket broke and air was escaping from the back there. 2 things to check: - See if there is any black marks from exhaust gases on the firewall - get someone else to rev it while you put your hand behind the manifold to check for any leaking air. (Do this when engine is cold, b/c the hole will get smaller as the engine warms up... Let us know how you go.. Zahos

I have a few questions about this exhaust that some of you that have one on an R33 might be able to answer... I have one on my car and I must say, it hangs really low around the resonator. Does any one have this exhaust on an R33 that is lower from standard height? Has anyone attempted to bend the rods that hold it up to make it sit higher? Has anyone been defected with this exhaust? Although I dont find it very loud, I've read that the standard exhaust comes close to the limit, so surely (according to that stupid test used to determine this) someone must have been told it is too loud??? Thanks Zahos

I also get a weird sound, but it sounds like a different problem. Mine comes on after cranking it over and it has started. Sounds like something squeeking under the car, and I cant tell if it is coming from the front or the back! My only guess so far it that it is the fuel pump....
-
Try giving it a polish first.... I thought it was in the inside, and i had a look and it was too much trouble to take it off. Anyhow, I read another thread a while ago on this, so i decided to polish mine... Came up looking much better. If that doesnt work, then i guess it is on the inside (highly unlikely unless it is not sealed and is leaking somewhere).

why pay that much????? any old cut and polish lying around and an old rag cost nothing and do the same thing.......
