  1. Hey everyone, Sorry to bring up an old thread, but for an update and more idea's on this. I had my brother come and have a look at my car with me on Saturday. Lube Mobile left the intake to the throttle body off and all of the coil packs off, so we went and bought a compression tester, and tested each of the cylinders. It came out to: Cylinder # PSI 1 50 2 60 3 55 4 100 5 80 6 60 First thought. Yep, it's fked. My brother said for compression to be lost like that, something pretty major must have gone on. We checked the oil, no real telltale signs of damage there, no water froma blown head. So we decided to put it all back together and see if we could figure out which of the three major players it could be (Air, Fuel, Spark). In the almost 3 months my car has been sitting in the front yard, my battery went flat so we bought a new one. We took the air filter out (K&N which looked pretty dirty). Connected up all the hoses that Lube Mobile took off... She kicked over first go!!! Running as smooth as ever. WTF?!?! We decided we'd service it (Oil, oil filter, new air filter for now until i clean and oil the K&N, front and rear brake pads as they were low) Did all that, took her for a drive from my house in Runcorn down to Jimboomba (25-30 minutes) to my brothers house, and back. All good. She has just as much power as she ever had and I'm sure it's as much power as it is supposed to have. Basically my question is. What is the deal with the compression? SURELY my car would run like crap if the engine compression was really THAT bad! And, does anyone know what PSI an RB25Neo should be? Cheers, Dave
  2. Anyone else have any ideas? Thanks heaps!
  3. 84k Would you hear that tho while you try to turn it over? Wouldn't it sould like sh*t? Cheers
  4. Hi krzysiu, That's what I thought. Especially when starting a completely stock engine... Anyone else have any idea's? Thanks guys.
  5. Hi All, I have a pretty crappy drama going on with my 34. I went away camping for a week from the 7th - 13th. Came back, took it up the road to get dinner it was all good. Drove it to work on the 14th and it was all good. Went to start it up on the 15th, and it no go :| The car tries to kick over, you can hear the starter motor doing it's thing, but just doesn't get anywhere. You can hear that it's not even detonating the fuel, it just sounds like the starter turning over. I had Lube Mobile out (because my car was at home and I didn't want to tow it somewhere). The guy checked the fuel pressure and said it was all good. He pulled the cover and fuel rails out and all of the spark plugs and started to test the compression in the cylinders. #1: 50PSI #2: 50PSI #4: 40PSI He didn't bother checking the rest. He told me that basically the engine is shagged and it will need to be replaced (not worth rebuilding). I'm having a hard time trying to think of what could go wrong trying to start a stock engine that compression would be lost in all of the cylinders? I understand the basic workings of an engine but do not know enough about them to be able to troubleshoot it / pull it down myself. I was just about to get it serviced, roadworthied and sell it... So, my questions are: 1. Would could it be that could go wrong with it, that most compression in all cyliners would be gone. 2. Depending on ideas from question 1, what would be my best options? Should I take it to another mechanic and have them check it out? Is it AFU (All F***** Up) and I need an engine? Should I try and sell it broken as the rest of the car is in pretty awesome condition. Would fixing the engine be an economical option. I'm hoping for some pretty open discussion. Thanks heaps for you help! Cheers, Dave.
  6. Saw a red R32 burnt out on Railway PDE (I think that's what the road is called) in the dark area near the Karawatha Forest in Woodridge... A cop car pulled up to it just as I went past...
  7. Hey mate, Have you got pics of the box with proper model numbers etc? After pics, not just the model number... Cheers, Dave.
  8. The DLink routers have DHCP enabled by default. So you should have a LAN IP address. Do IPCONFIG /ALL in dos and see what you get. You will most likely have 10.0.0.something. Post up the results of what this shows... your gateway should be the ip address of the router as should your primary dns. Your secondary dns may be blank, or it might be your ISP's DNS server. Anyway, on to testing. from IP CONFIG, write down your DEFAULT GATEWAY. then in dos, type PING <whatever your default gateway was> eg. PING 10.0.0.1 See if that brings up 4 replies. If it does: Type in PING WWW.GOOGLE.COM.AU That will say "Pinging www.l.google.com [66.102.7.99]" or something similar. See if you get 4 replies from that. If it doesn't: Open the router config page, and check in the wireless security area for MAC ADDRESS FILTERING, or something to that effect. MAC filtering will let you connect to the wireless network, but if you do not have it configured properly, then it will not let you send any data. So disable it for now. See how you go with that for now... Let me know if you dont understand something. Oh, and to get to dos: Click on your Start Button -> Choose RUN -> type in "cmd" (no quotes) and press enter.
  9. Staffy's are ok... Too licky and jumpy. can't sit down next to them without copping a tounge in the face... But, if your into that, then they're all good. Cute tho.
  10. Mt Gravatt is good when its overcast. City lights reflecting off the clouds, with the breeze... Even better as it starts getting into winter!
  11. You can just used iTunes and subscribe to a podcast. its just streaming it off the net basically...
  12. Good to hear mate. Good to hear.
  13. Lucky he's a short mofo... someone taller might not have been so lucky.
  14. This will make absolutely no difference. The car remains the sole property of the bank until the vehicle is paid out. The only safe way to get that legally sorted is for him to get a letter from the bank saying they have no interest in the vehicle any more. It is just called a letter of no further interest, and they will only give that if the car has been fully paid out, but they are just waiting on the last payment to clear. Banks are required to clear vehicles from REVS within 48 hours. No matter what he says / writes / does, nothing is stopping the bank from coming and taking your car off you, and they WILL bring the police to do it if you don't just hand it over. Dave.
  15. I have limited knowledge about this sort of problem, but it could be your spark plug gap is too far. The new amount of airflow from your intercooler / increased boost might be effecting it. Search for that, there has been a number of posts on it. Cheers, Dave
  16. That sucks mate. Especially saving up to get a new one, just for it to cost more than anticipated...
  17. That sucks mate, but how did you miss that? I had a similar thing happen, but there was nothing more than a dinted number plate. I still spent 10 minutes looking aaaalllll over the rear end of the car for something wrong.
  18. Don't kind yourself mate. That would never out perform a 6.5" split. Even Alpines bottom of the range Type S splits will out perform that in the specs, but they will sound 100 times better. Max Power doesnt mean shit, so never look at it. The type S has a freq response of 35hz to 30KHz and a sensitivity of 90Db/W/m and thats their bottom of the range. If you take this same question to CAA you will get laughed off the forum my friend just like someone with a riced up Excel would get laughed of SAu for saying they would thrash a turbo skyline. Dave
  19. Instead of holding the indicator on I just wait for it to turn off then i turn it back on again, thats if i cant go as far left as possible before turning the indicator. This happened in my 32 and again in my 34. It is annoying but i got over it...
  20. Good read mate. Its definitely a hot car. Would be great to see more work done to it! Dave
  21. Looks pretty cool. I have been watching heaps of top gear lately so there might be some other influences here, but the interior is foul. Looks like a standard camery interior. Rest of the car looks cool and as you said, would be great in black with leather, sunroof and dark tint.
  22. Ok, there is a few things wrong with that Nerds are encyclopedia's of the WRONG information... Asking questions and talking about shit that women don't want to hear. And?? Into bed with who she thinks is a hot guy... I don't look for girls that are super smart... All they do is make me look dumb... a) Even good looking guys can have good jobs both financially and mentally (challenging, exciting etc...) b) What do you do ? I'm an accountant... What do you do there? Add numbers together... What kind of numbers? The numerical kind... Gee, I feel better now that I know that info that no one else gives a shite about... c) Only works if she is the encyclopedia loving kind... d) Only works if she is blind to the fact that good looking guys can get good jobs, loves to hear about boring shit and loves encyclopedia's... Now, I have nothing against nerds... After all I do IT for a finance company... But you can't just make up excuses like that... Dave EDIT: I would like to add that I don't class smart people as nerds, as I work and know a lot of smart people who aren't nerds. I see the difference as being, smart people are smart and know their stuff, but can leave it at the door when they leave work or whatever, and nerds are smart, but only talk about smart stuff, and try to use the biggest words, always trying to impress people who just want to have a nice relaxed chat etc... Therefore, smart people can get the ladies because they are smart encyclopedias, but know when and how to use it. And nerds are encyclopedias that talk about episiotomies at the wrong time...
  23. Yes, there should be more friday night cruises! Sorry I had to pike guys. Dave.
