rx-8, 350z prices. how low will it drop ?
usuckpoo replied to r34_skyline's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I reckon theres a big difference btw what pple are asking for and what pple are actually willing to pay. So u may see someone asking for $XXX on the papers, but that dosent mean he will actually get it. Its ridiculous to see a 60k car depreciate just 5k a year esp in the first few years. If u ask me, i would personally put it at 8-10k for the 1st year, and mebbe 6-8 for the following year. Think abt it. If it was asking 65k brand new...and it actually just depreciates 5 k a year, would u pay 60 k for a 2nd hand one when u can put in 5 k more and get a brand new one? At that level where u are forking out 60k for a car....how significant would 5k be? -
NSW BANEDS ALL P PLATERS IN TURBOS JULY 2rd

i dont think RTA has anything to do with it. Its a traffic issue/offense. You can continue to own your high powered car, its just that the law will not allow you to drive it. i reckon it generally means that u cant drive, dosent matter when u get ur car, its more a case of ...if u r on ur ps, u cant drive this sort of car. Good luck dude, looks like u can start posting the car in the trading post -
Thats not stock boost. When u turn off any form of boost control/ bleed valve, the lowest boost it can go is the original wastegate setting which usually hovers around 5-6psi for most internal wastegate and this is determined by the stiffness of the diaphram spring. Boost is load dependant dude, combustion remains the same. If u want to really save fuel u can try cranking down the fuel pressure but its not really recommended.

How do I Polish up Dished wheels?
usuckpoo replied to Starionturbo's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
In future (when ur wheels are clean) u can try hosing down the wheels with truck wash...(i use something called CT-90 available from k mart) ever wondered how those trucks with so much chrome manage to keep them clean despite doing so many miles? Cant imagine them going over those massive trucks with a sponge? They dont...its just hose on...and hose off. -
Honestly even for a 2000 model .....30 000km is aweful low

So question remains... can we get an rs-4 for sub 25k prices without it having a prang?
-
no, stockers are viscous which are mechanically different, no noise but draw back is not much lock and they give up pretty easily too. I reckon the best compromise is a Helical diff

If u reduce the preload u will also wear the discs faster. Live with it dude, when i first got mine i initially tot it was incorrectly installed. Some ways to live with it include. "plan ur turns" i.e if u see a junction comming up and u need to make a turn, speed up, and clutch in on the turns. there are ways to drive around it to minimise the noise and vibrations

good luck cleaning them white rims are a paint to maintain....unless u dont mind them looking anything less than perfect

Daily Driver or Weekend/Track Car?
usuckpoo replied to ECR033's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I think you guys are talking about 2 different things, obviously because the size of your wallets are significantly different. Those who ONLY currently have a skyline as their only car contemplate leaving it at home so they wont have to worry abt it getting dinged or damaged or piling on the ks, more significantly so because they want to keep it in tip top condition. For those with much larger wallets and extra cars at home, the skyline IS their daily, its the car they dont mind getting dinged, bashed up, or piling on the ks cos this is their daily. Its the same like some rich saudi oil tycoons who drive 360s as their daily driver...they dont care if it gets beat up or so... ITs all abt the size of the wallet -

Btw the rubber jacket is the original rubber dust boot to prevent dirt from getting to shock. -
Teins Suspension Question? Plz Help!
usuckpoo replied to Myth33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Guys. Honestly, Teins suck. Having had 4 sets of HAs ovr 3 different cars, i can pretty much tell u the damper quality is very poor. The reason why u get the feeling that teins are firm is becos the coilovers are usually oversprung, and the dampers have alot of "stiction" which means they dont absorb small high frequency bumps very well. From my experience i get the gas noise whenever there is significant shock travel.. But the knocking noise from the front of the car is NORMAL. Apparently Tein shocks coupled with the design of the wishbone suspension seems to result in light knocking noises which u will not seem to find on other suspension makes such as cusco/hks etc. Im sure of this because i actually emailed Tein Japan to ask them of this....And their reply was that due to the structure of the suspension and the make of the car these knocking noises are expected but THEY DONT KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT. Thats the last time im buying Teins. -
Think abt it this way FMIC/any sort of coolers dont depreciate as much as the stereo. Your stereo loses 50% of its value the moment u walk out of the store
-
Its not just the brand Its the quality of the fittings the pipes and the finish Sure u could hack one together urself but im sure it will be no where close to the quality of a proper kit such as one from trust...in terms of finish, fittings, mounts, clamps, hoses etc If u had to piece one together urself that can match the quality, it will either cost just as much money, or alot more effort on your part.

lets have a proper "this is my car pic" post
usuckpoo replied to doxximus's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Damn thats one beautiful car. -
I guess the first step is that u need to own your own company first in order to get unconditional sponsorship. No one is going to sponsor you/your team for nothing in return
-
hmm might want to becareful if someone is daring enough to go rip ur plates off, i wont be surprised he'd give your car a scratch or 2 or some sort of damage when he finds he cant rip ur plates off a 2nd time becos u've gotten smart.

Nope "equipment that has been modified in a way that makes it less effective than it would have been without the modification"
