usuckpoo replied to Hawker180's topic in General Automotive Discussion
yes the af on the turbo timer is nowhere near an estimate...let alone accurate -
From the pics alone (and usually pics paint a better picture) u can tell the car is pretty warn esp on the window rubbers and the interior, the car has prob been in the sun for most of its life. The engine looks like its been halfway ard the world too Cheap....but....certainly much better gtrs out there for a little more money

Fresh from Japan pics
usuckpoo replied to Beer Baron's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Thiss thread is a little old but my question to you is why you would bother, given that it would have been much easier to just source and comply a stock car and modify it to your tastes (or exactly how this one looks) no offense but it looks like a massive job, dodgy/flaky paint, damaged sideskirts, and what looks to be an old supra intercooler grafted in a hurry to fit the car with little thought for airflow. add to that the amount of work you have to do. It looks tough, big question is...is it that tough to warrant all that effort? Unless you've sourced it for real song....a real song. Esp that given the prices of R33 these days.... and the idea of grafting a roof for compliance.... sounds like alot of good money going after the bad. -
If u look at the headlight u have to remove the headlight plastic surround via 2 screws on the sides (when u pop the lights up) from there 4 screws hold a metal frame which holds the headlight in place, remove that and the headlights fall out of which u have access to the bulbs via removing the protective rubber surround

Electronic Boost Controller
usuckpoo replied to MrSkylineR33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
If you just want someting cheap and reliable why not go for a BLEED VALVE almost guaranteed never to break down...works without eletricity too -
Not sure if this has been posted before but does anyone noe if compliance for this car is currently underway? I think sometime back i heard of one or 2 shops intending to do so but nuting concrete so far. Im guessing that it would prob be in a similar price bracket to a used 350z. Any news? This car is gorgeous man

Again i shall reiterate i am not taking sides here, i've owned 2 nissans so far in fact. All im saying is that you cant compare, the moment you factor modications in, it changes the ball game entirely. Stock to stock, A monaro will prob (im not sure actually) be faster than a stock R33 gtst. Full stop. Factoring modications in is an entirely subjective matter which can also apply to a monaro owner who may also boast that his supercharged hsv will see off any gtr or whatsoever. Yes numerically and technically they are more inefficient, but fact is, stock out of the box, they make more power and in the bodyshell they are in, they end up quicker. U might want to say the Q45 4.5 V8 is a monster, but fact is that that engine is not in any sort of skyline. Same way how a v8 fan might argue that a lingenfelter 7 litre supercharged v8 is the king of the road.
-
if those are the only options presented to u i reckon 1 pt for 12 months is the best take? Rather than an outright suspension for 3 months
-
R you still on your Ps? (sounds like it since u were not supposed to drive a mannual) Normally its hard esp when u have various different offences under you(implies lack of respect for the law) and the presumption is that since u have not had your licence for long, you've lived without driving before you got ur licence anyway. That said, good luck hope you get it back.
-
Yeah they dont, my point is that u cant really compare. Naturally aspirated V8s being larger engines will never achieve the efficiency of a turbocharged nissan engine. But they were made for different applications. They make a whole lot more torque at much lower rpms than any rb series engine. Rather why not just respect someone esles decision to go for something different other than a skyline? Its variety that makes our world interesting. And when we're talking abt "the neccessary mods" required to beat these v8 barges, dont forget that if they started spending money on their cars/engines...they will go alot quicker too.
-
Not to sound opiniated here but i dont think u can really compared engines to engines, esp when urs relies on forced induction to make power. Whats going to happen when u turbocharge a 5.7 v8? It'll prob make enough power to tow your house down. Not to take sides here, but its really comparing apples and oranges....so why compare? There are pple who like the rumble and torque of a v8, and pple who like the rush of boost and agility of a lightweight engine.

100% noob and dont know where to start.
usuckpoo replied to Mecha's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Honestly if u r new to cars...best thing to go out there is to buy a rwd car under 5k and have some fun with it, perhaps crash it, perhaps learn to drive it properly. Once there, pick up the gtst, or the gtir, then again, ur tastes may have changed once u learnt more abt cars in general. Or u could just use the gtst as ur experimental mule and perhaps trash it, and most likely crash it, depending on how good your financial position is. -
They are equally quick (roughly, with the right mods) and u cant beat the fact that its a newer car. If u can live with the size (its a little small)...its stil an upgrade.

why is a question i wont be able to answer, just tot so cos the pipes running to and from it look like breather hoses.
-
Looks like its got the oil breather tank integrated into the design of the strut bar

Flywheel machining... Should I?
usuckpoo replied to PHaT MR30's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah dont lighten a stockflywheel because it will weaken it and if so, u risk shattering it. Off the shelf aftermarket flywheels are usually lighter becos of material and also construction while maintaining strength -
compression dude check ur compression

is there anyway to make the plenum look new again? Mines just looks aged and a little dary. I dont want to polish it becos it takes away the matt crackle finish , just want it to look like when it was brand new?
