  2. In regards to series 1 R33's... after adding my turboback zorst, to go with my cooler, apexi pod, and the boost controller. My ecu was going into rich and retard, the controller was set to max 10psi, tried lowering the boost which helped a bit, but currently have the controller sitting in my garage awaiting some aftermarket management. Apparently series ones are the worst, and apparently mine's a bit worse than usual, as its still running mega rich even on stock boost. Before installing the exhaust I also removed the solenoid and my dual boost setup as I found I never used low boost anyway... I also found that what CEF11E said about my initial setup to be correct, I just never noticed it. It did boost up to the high boost and then drop down and hold low boost, but I only noticed this when my foot was hard to the floor, gentle everyday driving never revealed this. Silly me should have thrashed both high and low, but I only ever drove hard with high boost. If someone wants to test this, I can't as my computer is retarded, maybe try installing the controller after the tee junction... it may correct the boost delivery, any one else care to comment? Not CEF11E sayin I told you so...
  3. You want it to go between the intercooler return pipe and the actuator, replacing the t-piece that runs up to the stock boost solenoid. You can then remove the solenoid, and plug up the remaining hose. Let me know if you have any dramas...

  6. Thanks to all who organised.... Had a great time even though my Skyline stayed home with a nice big puddle of oil underneath it, luckily I had the missus car to use. The black WRX wagon that looked oh so out of place :Oops: Unfortuanately the piece of sh** WRX could only manage a 14.3, not too bad for a pretty standard car, but you just can't launch the thing - either bogs down or you have to slip the clutch (not very friendly)... But great to see all the Skylines out there, next time I'll bring a real car too!! Again, thanks to all the organisers.
  7. siksII, what you describe is exactly what I got... I have dropped the boost back to stock and its a little better but I can still feel hesitation at the mentioned rev range. (sometimes its ok, but 85% of the time it thinks about whether or not its going to rev out) I didn't think rich and retard really became an issue until 11-12 psi, the tuner/mechanic said he's seen similar before but not to this extent, which led him to believe there was something else, he seems content that it just needs a tune now. Oh well, siksII if the pfc fixed it for you, then I guess its a goer. I assume it totally eliminated the drop?

  9. @ PSI_GTSII Thanks dude, will have a look at the igniter in the morning.... any other suggestions people? I'm dying to see how the car runs with the new exhaust and it tears me up not knowing what's wrong with it. To put it in perspective, it is running so bad I would get flogged by a VN V6 Commonwhore!!
  10. Hi all, I need help diagnosing the cause of my car running so rich. I have an R33 Gts25t, it had an ARC side mount, splitfire coils, apexi super intake pod, turbotech ball/spring boost valve (set at 9psi), 4000km old Iridium plugs... and made 145kws on the dyno. Everything else is stock. After fitting an exhaust (split dump/front, catco stainless inside cat, nismo cat back and new o2 sensor) the car put out 185kw on the dyno @ 10psi. (Both runs done on the same day, with a real nice power curve) Unfortunately, thats where the good news stops... the single run could not be replicated. Every subsequent run (on same day) resulted in the car grossly overfueling at around 4500 - 5500 rpm. It happens on the road and the dyno. The curve on the dyno now runs up to about 140kws then drops right down to ~90kw, then in the last 500rpm it leans right out and nabs 170kw. Now, the car has been with the mechanic as he is trying to diagnose the problem... a list of what he has tried when I last spoke to him; -several air flow meters -several stock computers -removed boost controller -looked for boost leak -nissan diagnostics come back ok -2 different fuel cut defenders tried (which helped pick up outright power, but the curve stayed the same) -when I last spoke to him he was going to look at the fuel pressure regulator but said he is stumped and has never witnessed this on a Skyline He suggests some form of aftermarket management, ie Power FC, to fix the problem. However, even though an aftermarket ecu may sort out the power delivery and power curve... there must still be an inherent problem somewhere. And I don't want to pay for an aftermaket ECU if its something else thats cheaper to fix. Please let rip on any experiences/suggestions!!! Thanks in advance, Drew

Actually the boost delivery is perfect... it spools up a little quicker than before, and because the controller is before the solenoid, the solenoid only gets to see what the controller lets through. The way I understand it, the ball and spring open at 10psi, with the solenoid open, it bleeds off 3psi, and with the solenoid closed it just maintains the 10psi the turbotech allowed through. After thinking about it, the little brass fitting in the hose was probably just the right size to let the standard high boost of 7.5psi through, so esentially the system now just has an adjustable fitting. Also, I will prob get some longer hose and try to move the controller out of sight... it stands out like the proverbial!!
  16. OK, I have set it up on my 33... I decided to do it a little different to everyone else in that I have kept the solenoid in the picture, my resoning for this is that I can maintain the dual boost control. What I have done is wire a switch inside the cabin that intercepts the solenoid control wire off the ecu, and sends a earth signal to the solenoid. Essentially the ecu no longer has control of the solenoid. What I now have is a low boost mode of 7psi and a high of 10psi. If I adjust the turbotech it increases or decreases both figures. I installed the turbotech before the tee junction on the line that runs to the actuator. I had to remove a little a small little brass fitting in the line, I think it controls the boost, sounds kinda like the boost jets in the post above? My pictures...
  17. Hi guys, please excuse me but I'm a little lost... I have a 33 gtst and have looked at my setup (stock solenoid) but don't fully understand where to put this. Can someone post a pick of an R33 install... am I fitting it in place of the solenoid? ie, just remove the hoses from the solenoid and put them on the valve, if I remove the solenoid from the picture altogether, I'm left with three hoses. Which two do I use? Sorry if someone has already made it clear, my eyes must be blurry
