  1. Hey guys, Searched but couldn't find what I was after, I've picked up a RB25 engine to replace my RB20, ( yeah been preaching rb20's for years, but this was a good deal, haha) and am playing around with injectors ATM. Obviously I've got top feeds in the 20 ( sard 800's), and they actually fit into the rubber insulators in the 25 inlet mani. Basically, the seal bears on the next diameter up from the Pintel cap. This however, effectively puts the injector around 10mm further 'into' the manifold. Is this going to cause an issue? The sards are actually about 5mm shorter than the stock rb20 injectors ( at the Pintel cap) so I've actually got the opposite (further out) at the moment, and I haven't had a issue. Would like to keep the top feeds, so I can drive to tuner, and cause I'm a tightarse. If I mod the stock 20 fuel rail ( make the supply hose end to terminate at the southern side, and make new brackets) looks like it will fit under the stock top half/throttle body Tl,dr : will the injector being a further 10mm into the manifold present an issue? Cheers
  2. Probably didn't want his FS add littered with discussion about seats, in a second hand car, that could have been changed (if not delivered from factory like that) for a multitude of reasons.
  3. So around 900rpm improvement in response from BB core?? Is that a typical result??? seems like a lot *Sorry, should be in hypergear thread On topic, can't wait to hear it with that manifold! Would like to change the manifold on mine, but cant pull the trigger cost wise, just for the noise. If I could justify a jump in performance aswell, I could maybe do it, haha
  4. Yeah, my cars have always been laggy, so don't know what I'm missing, haha At 240rwkw, its plenty for what I do (drifting). Bonus is I don't use as many tires as other peeps.
  5. Nah, I'm running a Hypergear OP6 highflow. Stock manifolds, unopened motor, just supporting mods on 98. Cheap setup, and i'm pretty happy with it (read- used to the lag) Super keen to see what results you get though.
  6. Now thats living! My RB20 made 75rwkw at 4000rpm, haha. and 20psi at 4800rpm.
  7. Hook up a mechanical gauge to make sure you have oil pressure, then chase wiring issues? I always thought you had to "prime" a oil pump with oil before install?
  8. How's the RB20 experiment going Tao?
  9. Ooooo spline oil drive, keen to see how this goes. Looking good.
  10. Have you ever run without the boost controller connected? (just straight hose from cooler pipe to wastegate) Reckon the boost controller could be playing up? Surely nothing mechanical would make the boost go from tapering off at high rpm to overboosting, without noticing something major with the way it runs.
  11. Nice machined up dollies you made for pressing the bearings in. Beats the old close-enough-socket!
  12. Is that a typo? 397kw? did you mean 297kw? Cause damn, 397kw on a op6 higflow on 98 is wizardry.
  13. Nice clean example!
  14. Have done a bit of reading on the spline drives, they seem to be used in the UK a fair bit. Think someone on here (in the build threads somewhere) is doing a build with the spline, and put up the fitting instructions. I think it mentioned removing the dowels that locate the oil pump to the block, nip up the bolts, rotate the crank a few times (guess to "centre" the splines) then torque bolts to spec.
  15. V35 wheels Hey guys, I've got a set of 4 V35 wheels for sale. 18x8 +30 offset 5x114.5 PCD obviously Wheels have some marks/rash, but balance up fine. Tires are 225 40 18 with camber wear (2 of them) and flat spots ( the other 2) still heaps of life for track work These were my old drift/track wheels, and have since gone back to 17's so these need to go. They fit pretty well on stock body S14/15, R32/33 gts t's etc. Pic below is on my 4 door with no spacers $400, fairly negotiable for SAU guys. Will consider swap for a set/pair of 17x9 japanese brand wheels Located between Nowra and Wollongong
  16. Well I'd expect a huge difference in throttle response with no intercooler too! So a water to air cooler, aka celica gt4 style which keeps the inlet tract super short might have some benefit for rb20 tragics? haha. How is the research with the RB20 going?
  17. Check afm and cas plugged in (all the way) battery ok and terminals tight?
  18. What boost controller are you running? Something is not right, I'm hitting 20psi with the OP6 highflow at 4900, and thats on my RB20 which is 500cc smaller and has no VCT.
  19. F1's worst kept secret, haha. Keen to see how Bottas goes in the merc, never really rated him myself. Should have put Massa in the merc for a laugh
  20. The livery is so good! Nice fab work too, is that what you do for a living?
  21. I always thought this tested worn valve stem seals, i.e, engine under vacume, then WOT and if it puffs blue smoke, valve stem seals are on way out.
  22. Yeah, I reckon at least change the actuator, should be able to do it with the turbo on the car. And also, I've seen quite a few turbo's with fins chipped like yours, and they are still working. Quite possible the damage was there before. But given the potential consequences of a turbo flying apart, probably worth thinking about changing it.
  23. I still think there is something else going on. If the turbo still spins freely those chips wont stop it from making boost, might grenade it from being out of balance, but I'd expect it to still make some boost, not zero, like you've said. Actually, just re-read first post, you said you installed a adjustable actuator, are you sure the wastegate flap is 100% closed, with about 5mm preload on the actuator? If this is adjusted too long (holding the flap open) you will be making zero boost.
  24. Obviously that's just a RB25 timing belt cover? you don't have VCT working on the 20 do you? haha. Keenly awaiting results
