ive got a problem with controlling boost, its running up to around 0.8 bar which is more that i want. there is a bleed valve on the wastegate line but its fully closed, i think it may be still causing a boost increase so im gonna bin it. boost is instantaneous. i still havent hooked up the NVCS so it falls over pretty bad, and the plugs are gapped at 1.1 so it breaks down slightly, but once i overcome these probs, it will be great.

yeah its my new drift car. its got 10:1 CR no decompression. when it f**ks out a piston, ill slap a 3litre bottom end in with some cheap forged pistons. it should last for a while, its got good oil pressure and its got mega amounts of fuel going in.

Diff Between The Rb20det And De Heads?
andylaurel replied to blue_leaf's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i think the only difference is in the pistons, and the lack of oil squirters. (obviously not in the heads) -
the closest to zero offset possible man. just remember, its not the diameter of the wheel that makes a car look good, its the width/offset. eg a 17 X 9 +10 offset rim will look way tougher than a 20 X 8.5 +45 offset rim.

all done by me... in that carport ^^^ i must have lost at least a litre of blood to the mossies.

mines all running now im using RB25DE +T with RB20 everything. I upgraded to RB25DET (370cc) injectors and its too rich to make any power. Use a Apex SAFC to lean her off a little. My conversion cost me just over $1100. Im chuffed.

ill get a RB25 turbo when one comes up cheap, or get a sliding performance turbo. i have ordered brand spankers top and bottom radiator hoses for it so add $100 to the cost. They are the last thing before its ready to drift. ill post results, timing and drivability.

Stephen: The RB20 Manifold and Turbo bolted straight on with no modifications. I havent modified (dropped) the compression ratio as i feel that any detonation associated with turbocharging this motor can be easily overcome by adding fuel and/or pulling out timing. As for the loom, the RB20 loom was fine for the RB25 save for the soldering of the 6 injector plugs. The RB25 side feed injectors (turbo and NA) use a different plug (generic side feed nippon denso). They were soldered, and insulated onto the RB20 loom. One thing that will pose a problem is that the RB20 loom/ecu has no provisions for controlling the NVCS (which is the variable cam timing on the inlet cam). I can overcome this in a few different ways. PM for details. Roy: Yeah i did all the labour myself. I cant justify letting a workshop procrastinate on my car for 3 months making excuses all the way like; "we are just waiting on this part" The CR is standard... 180psi in all 6 cylinders. No metal HG required. It runs RB25DET injectors which are 370cc. I thought it would be too rich, but it seems to be fine. I never got an AC compressor or condenser with the car when i bought it... some stupid drifter wannabe had removed it. I will be retrofitting it for my driving pleasure. I anticipate around 170rwkw with a low boost setting. I will have the stock ecu remapped and post results. I fully anticipate this turbo running out of flow around the 6000 mark. The upside to this is it will prob make full boost earlier. Randy: The motor was technically a long motor, but it was minus alternator, PS pump, brackets, coils, loom. Sinistagtst: Suck my balls, when you've put in as much effort into an engine swap like this, then you can critise me. Marki Mark: It idles smoothely but it has not been street tested yet as i havent located any R33 radiator hoses yet and i work 6 days a week!

Ok so i just completed the MOST BUDGET RB25 conversion in the history of skylines (prob not true) I thought there may have been a problem because the way i was doing it because the guy wouldnt run after it was mechanically finished. There was talk of INJECTOR RESISTANCE and CAS compatibility but none of that was an issue. Turns out the Injectors were seized from sitting around to long. So my conversion cost me: $700 RB25DE $20 to have oil drain welded on to sump $150 in fluids $200 for 25DET injectors Total Cost $1070 RB25 Conversion Parts I used RB25 Long Motor RB20 Gearbox RB20 Clutch/Flywheel/pressureplate RB20 PS pump RB20 Alternator RB20 Loom RB20 ECU RB25 turbo injectors RB20 Turbo and ex Manifold RB20 radiator As you all know, RB25det's have NVCS and i will have to go to Jaycar and buy a RPM based switch (maybe a shift light kit) to control the NVCS. So there we are people, dont be content with your RB20's lack of torque of throttle response. next time you throw a rod, seek out a $1000 RB25 conversion.

rods are the same i think -
yeah i thought the guage was faulty but it turns out, it was accurate. The oil pump was faulty

Twin Turbo Kit Need Help Where?
andylaurel replied to R32 _ULTIMATE_WEAPON's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
twin turbos have twice the rotating mass or another way of looking at it is, each turbo is using only half the engine capacity to spool the turbine. -
i thought the same thing about my skyline when i first bought it... "ah shes a little low on oil pressure, must just be the sender" i said to myself then BANG

you'd be able to sell it for a fortune!

RB20 turbo swaps are super quick! way easier than CA/SR turbo swaps

Rb20det Injector / Ecu Problems
andylaurel replied to R32_Damo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
this is because the RB25 ECU 'thinks' its pulsing 370 cc injectors whereas its really only pulsing 260cc injectors, so the injector pulse will be shorter (for a given amount of air that passes through the AFM) than the RB20 ECU's injector pulse. -

Tiff's R32 Gtst Conversion To R32 Gts25t
andylaurel replied to Squishy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
turns out thats not the case... will confirm this tommorow. by the way, i have a hicas lock bar but i left all the shit in the car anyay cos im lazy... should be able to start it tommorow tiff... if these injectors work ok. -

Tiff's R32 Gtst Conversion To R32 Gts25t
andylaurel replied to Squishy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
i just got some RB25DET injectors for my conversion... apparently the RB25DE injectors are the wrong impedance for the RB20 ECU and you need the RB25DET injectors so the ECU will run them.... hey tiff i just left all that hicas junk sitting in my engine bay... too much effort to remove... not a show car! -
