Fs: 1998 R34 Gt-t Skyline Lots Photos
junkie replied to miraboi's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
after all that work, 12k? modding really is money down the drain -
Off topic, but what was your sanding/polishing process? I'm restoring an exact same set and the lips are a pain in the butt to sand/polish

Advice On Front-end Damage/potential Sale
junkie replied to Tudisco's topic in Australian Capital Territory
You would be better off fixing then selling... There's probably about 1500 worth of secondhand parts, paint and labour in there. Would be cheaper if you can find parts in that colour but its not very common -
If you dont want to spend that much, call a few wreckers, there are a few that specialise in skyline parts. Not much point in waiting here for someone to help - buying an import means hunting for obscure parts yourself

Great car and a great set of pics. Much jealous -
Its just glue residue, no need for sandpaper. WD40 will clean it off for a real titeass way, just follow up with proper window cleaner to remove the oily residue from WD40

I bought a yellow top for my s14 back in 2007, use the car twice a month at most, have flattened the battery several times and its still cranking like a champ, even after a month of sitting around. Money well spent

How To Replace Rear Tail Light S1 Stagea?
junkie replied to SOB's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Nothing on the inside as far as I remember. Just two 10mm bolts on the inside near the rubber seal and one or two clips on the outside that need a firm tug. Not too hard though you don't want to damage the wiring harness. Went thru a lot of this chasing my bros dodgy tail light bulbs -
I have this bit leftover from a bootlid swap, but only one of the red clips.

Replacement For 370gt Windscreen Wipers ?
junkie replied to phynicle's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
In general, most forums have pretty low tolerance to noob questions (seen the douchebaggery on Whirlpool?). Forums in AU and US are pretty harsh on noobs, while UK and Europe are a bit more polite, but the general rule is, search before you create a new topic. Some people are well aware of this rule, but still choose to ignore it by starting their question with something along the lines of "I searched but found nothing" before asking something that Google would have given them in seconds.- 59 replies

Replacement For 370gt Windscreen Wipers ?
junkie replied to phynicle's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
this. they are probably the standard 6mm metal backed inserts - measure them up, buy slightly longer and trim to size, easy as that, 25 bucks max for a pair. Replacing the entire assembly is pointless unless its worn out and loose, unlikely on a V36- 59 replies

I used to buy Greddy oil filters from Autobarn, when they sold them for $20 and online retailers wanted $40 to $60. Realised it was a waste of money in the end since it gets chucked every 6 months. Now I buy genuine Nissan filters in bulk instead, works out cheaper than Ryco retail

Car Radio Displays "err" After Replacing The Battery
junkie replied to zillah's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Code entered too many times incorrectly, you will need to call the dealer with your VIN. -
My bro used to own a Swift GTi, great little car... bought it from a mate of mine, who in turn, bought it from a car yard in Bankstown We were noobs at the time and didn't really look into the history of the car or anything, but on the papers its was a Swift GA, a base model with a three cylinder engine. We thought it was an RTA error and didnt think much of it, until my bro went to trade the car in. The car yard accepted the trade-in, all went well until a few days later when they called back and said, this is not a proper GTi. It had a totally different VIN on the body, compared to the plate, and was in fact a GA, that was fitted with GTi driveline, interior, bodykit, dash etc. They asked us about who sold the car and eventually traced the whole thing back to the car yard in Bansktown that went "bankrupt" shortly after. The mate who bought the car from the yard originally, was a noob at the time as well and had no idea what he bought, he actually replaced the Swift with a Corolla GTi that was in a rollover and so badly repaired, all the door seals leaked water when it rained and had bits and pieces from corollas and holden novas used in the repair (slightly different guards, blinkers, lights etc) Good lesson to check all the numbers and not just assume errors...

Getting A 30k Loan For A Daily. Good/bad Idea?
junkie replied to sleptema's topic in General Automotive Discussion
My 2c... Buy the house first, pay a chunk of mortgage off, then chuck your car purchase on your mortgage and enjoy the low rates. You won't even notice this dent in your wallet if you do it this way. This is how my s14 was bought back in 2002, when I was 21, just added to parents mortgage and paid off overtime (28k back then!) I've had my share of crappy dailys over the years and there comes a time when you just get over sitting in an old pile of crap like a 17yo p-plater. All depends on what you how you define a daily anyway. Is it a beater to leave at a dodgy train station all day? Or a decent car to use generally? This will determine of 30k is worth spending. My current daily is somewhere halfway, a 12k v35, perfect compromise for my needs -
