i'm in the same boat, was keen on buying a 32 or 33 for a long time, and now its basically too late... should have bought a 33 when clean tidy ones were going for 20-25 a couple of years ago, now they are double the price i refuse to pay 35k+ for a tired, wound back car with questionable history, rust and accident damage and cannot afford a clean immaculate car. on top of that, spare parts have also shot up in value and people are buying up whatever they can (even without owning a GT-R) and reselling at big markups or holding onto parts waiting for them to increase in value

welcome to the GT-R bubble, they are the next air-cooled 911

250GT are pretty much worthless these days, its the base model of the whole V35 range and the least powerful... but, you get a lot of car for the money and they are a pretty damn good daily - quiet, well built, comfortable, fairly cheap to run and pretty decent to drive ours has been pretty much trouble free for the past 5 years, only needing servicing and brake pads/disks. just keep in mind that they need 98 octane fuel and will also get carbon buildup due to being direct injected.

damn, dont see those anymore. the turbo 4x4 versions were pretty cool back in the day

happens to me with my 200, its 99% stock and is waxed more often than driven.

i havent sold anything i would miss so far but I do miss my brothers 1995 Swift GTi, used to borrow it quite often and loved that little twin cam engine with 8k redline, the super slick gearshift, the light weight, nice seats, nice brakes, awesome driving position and just the general fun feeling it was flimsy as though and i wouldnt want to crash it but still, a ton of fun

S14-15 vs Evo 7-9 Track Car
junkie replied to No Crust Racing's topic in General Automotive Discussion
They are brilliant - I'm actually thinking of buying one in the next 12 months, after driving a 275 RS Cup along the old pacific highway Prices are low due to epic depreciation and the suspension setup has been done by people who know what they are doing, its pretty much perfect out of the box. Some of the later cars even run an exxy adjustable ohlins setup with composite springs and pilot sport cup 2 tyres -
id say the battery would be fine, maybe shorted life somewhat but hard to say. if fairly new it will cope better, just make sure fluid level is sweet and keep an eye on the voltmeter

alternator is overcharging and causing the acid to bubble up and leak out of the battery. check the voltage at the battery terminals while engine is running, anything 14.7 and above is a problem

method for cleaning light dust of exterior paint?
junkie replied to darkparagon's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Buy yourself a gallon of Meguiar's last touch from sparesbox and a bag of microfibre towels from Costco Mist the panel, wipe lightly with one towel in one direction to pick up the dust then follow up with a second clean towel to remove any leftover streaks I used this method for years on my S14 when driving it on weekends and before putting a cover on it. If done right you won't have any swirling issues. Having a decent coat of wax will also help -
To be brutally honest - you picked a bad time to buy a GT-R The good cars are overpriced, and there is a lot of very average stuff out there for 30+ grand, which is just nuts - most don't appear to be selling either Forget about insurance too

Gtr R32 Revival - Advice And Recomendation

That engine bay is immaculate... -
I was always keen on a GT-R but it seems the boat has sailed now. The good cars are not up for sale, the average stuff is way overpriced for age and condition... should have bought something a couple of years ago

I had some sag on both sides on my 34, probably 10mm on drivers side and 5mm on passenger After messing around for half a day without any decent results and realising the hinges were fine i fixed the problem and got both doors to line up perfectly First, loosen the bottom hinge bolts on the body (not the door itself) - I had the guards off so its pretty easy to reach all bolts Then, open the door slightly and get the trolley jack under the edge of the door, with something to protect the edge (rubber or cloth, whatever works) Jack the door up very carefully and line up the plastic trims on the door and the rear window Then, tighten the bottom hinge (it may have moved very slightly), close the door and loosen and tighten the bolts on the top hinge to relieve any strain/tension caused by moving the door up Test, and repeat if needed - mine are now perfect

What causes did you find for body/suspension squeeks and clunks?
junkie replied to ausdrift's topic in General Maintenance

Great article about buying and restoring a Z32
junkie replied to PranK's topic in General Maintenance
Love that Z from the early 90s Used to be an apprentice at a Nissan dealer in 1999, had to move one around the shop and was amazed at the driving position. Super low, deep inside the car with a small amount of headroom and steering wheel right in front of your face and massive trans tunnel to the left and that weird semi frameless door to the right. Loved that "cockpit" dash too but never got to drive it on the road Being a noob, getting it on the hoist was a scary process, being so freaking wide and barely leaving any space either side -
could be a bad/partially blocked nozzle, i had a similar issue with a spray gun once. chucked it, thats what i get for buying cheap crap
-
Dealers (and some private sellers) are already taking advantage of the R32 boom with other cars. Altho the purple R33 may be a typo
-
i used the small wire wheel attachment to clean up the surface, no need to go to bare metal

Bringing a GTT back to glory
junkie replied to stump_69's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Its actually a coloured coating on top of the plastic that goes bad I removed all mine with bug and tar remover, its standard grey plastic underneath, can be primed and painted easily -

exactly the same process yeah. the clear coat is some special stuff that sticks to plastic without primer and has built in UV blocking ability -
Review: Mothers NuLens™ Headlight Renewal Kit
junkie replied to PranK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
All these products are great but without some kind of UV protection the problem will be back, and faster than before, since all the sanding and polishing has now left bare plastic with zero protection there are a couple of kits with spray on clear coat, i'm testing one now -
damn, R34's dont get any better than that but those tyres... i had a set of 14 year old tyres that looked brand new due to lack of use, but were downright dangerous in some situations, not to mention hard and noisy
