Import Tyres
danozgriff replied to danozgriff's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
That scribbly circle is a j/s marking which I have been informed. has only recently been accepted as a valid tyre standard in Australia. -
Hi I want to keep the tyres that I imported my car with as they are in good condition etc, but im not sure if they have the correct Australian rating. The only markings I can see is a V4UY on the 255's on the rear and a V40L on the 235's on the front. As well all tyres have a really small circle symbol with a squiggly line going through it. Also my tyres are all the same brand/version but these markings are only on the left side tyres and not on the right. Is that gonna be an issue? Cheers, Dane EDIT: actually now that I look closer it might just be that the tyres are on the wrong way on the right hand side - so the markings are on the inside sidewall of the tyres.

Why brokers?
danozgriff replied to noise's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Personally after importing my first car I would never use a broker again. There has been heaps of contacts posted in threads that you can check out and ask em if they have any of the cars your after. I bought my car from Mark Hocking as well and his service was top notch. Jspec seems to be pretty reputable but some other brokers (not naming any) charge you their service fee then STRONGLY recommend you go with their recommended customs brokers etc - only to so these guys can squeeze more money from you through commissions made from this! IMO email a few suppliers, see what they have in stock otherwise go with a broker if the right car comes up, but beware of the middlemen they recommend along the way. :kick: -
Anyone got their cars yet. I forgot to sign my aircon exemption so It had to be signed and sent back to my customs officer on wednesday - not sure how much that is gonna delay the release of my car. Also I find it strange that some brokers can get away without lodging an a/c exemption and still not have to degas.

D.i.y Compliance
danozgriff replied to DAN00H's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
blacky (or any West Aussie in the know) If anyone knows about the updated 15year requirements (since april 4 2004); Is a engineers cert. required in WA? I have been told that it is required, but you can take it over the pits and they will do the eqivilant of an engineers check/report if you don't have one for an extra charge.. (maybe this is only for stock-ish cars)? -

R32 Gtr Auction Sheet Translation
danozgriff replied to vrm's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Good luck getting that translated Its really weird. Apparently alot of the auctioneers don't write japanese, they put all their comments in english (or their idea of english) and they actually write in down on the paper with japanese letters. .. So its hard even for japanese speaking people to read.. Not to mention the scribble that is your auction sheet.. They should definately make bigger spaces for comments - considering alot of these cars are highly modified :headspin: -
Roughly how long was it from your cars came off the ship to when you guys actually got your cars? also (random question).. but can the engineers certificate been signed by any engineer? my mates dad is a mechanical engineer (does boat engineers or some such work) and I could get him to maybe write me up a mechanical signoff?

Japan Auction sheets
danozgriff replied to danozgriff's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Well I faxed it to someone and got it verbally explained over the phone. I can send the auction sheet if you want? -
Hey My car was bought at auction by a supplier in japan and then resold to me. He recently provided the auction grading sheet to me which I had translated. Amongst other things it said: "Due to the very low stance of the car, no claims for negligance can be made for any damage during transit" Just wanting to know if this is a standard clause for the cars or what? Because my car has stock standard suspension - no one would consider it low.

Yer I started the thread. Politicians have to put up with opinions and accusations that can often wouldn't be considered fair and reasonable. In any case, considering his current issues and the nature of the 15 year rule changes, IMO it is very reasonable make such accusations, of the possibility that he could have been swayed into making certain decisions over the 15 year rule. I stand by my first post. But just so you can get some sleep at night I will change the wording to make it more palatable for you. And remember everyone, we must never publically express our opinions and scrutinise those in charge.. we don't want to end up living in a democracy now do we..

Just saw this on the news.com.au website about Jim Lloyd (The minister responsible for axing the old 15 year rule arrangements) Sounds very shady. If this is true, it could be quite possible he could have been influenced ($$$) by some of the major car dealers (toyota?) into pushing for the termination of the current 15 year rule arrangements. Well, either way, what goes around comes around - so I hope he gets his.
