Will keep an eye out, but with a car that looks like that you really should never have it uninsured. Good luck though.

It's true, we will hear the election result tomorrow morning. I reckon Mark Latham will win it. :uh-huh: But back to topic, some people have waited a few months, others it takes just a few days, just hope you get away with it but from the way you have described it, you will get one.

Attatched is said article. -
I ordered a greddy turbo timer from them, and it took 3 weeks before I got it. I was a bit dissapointed something so simple took so long, but that sort of thing happens.

Tell them to check out Autoworx in Wangara, some very nice cars there & are pretty cheap at the moment too. With John Hughes, all of their cars are grade 4 I believe, they only have the top quality ones there. Way too expensive though, I imported a car that probably would have been grade 4 for under 17k, and they sell slightly older cars than that for 6k more. Err, no thanks John ya twat.

LuvDR if Phuong sells his to the other guy you can have mine for $340. We got our cars through the same workshop, so mine would also probably be nexen tyres, just haven't bothered finding out yet lol. Let me know if you are interested anyway, need the cash for my cooler.

What's the difference between series 1-1.5 or 1.5-2??? I'm not too sure about the 1.5 series, but in another thread they mentioned all the differences between series 1 & 2, but my car has a few features of both, so maybe mine is a 1.5, otherwise it's a s1. Is there a way to tell easily or not???

I recieved my brace today, many thanks. Nice & shiny.

Power NOT a factor with young drivers
ossie_21 replied to ossie_21's topic in General Automotive Discussion
This was in the Sunday Times in WA, I will try to scan it probably tomorrow & I'll post it up. -
Hi, this is an article printed in the Sunday Times here in the west, from a survey conducted by the Uni of WA. Can't find it on the internet, so I have typed the whole thing here. Quite interesting: Young drivers are no more likely to have a fatal or serious crash in a powerful car than in other vehicles, research has revealed. The University of WA study-the first of it's type in the world-dismissed the myththat vehicle performance is a major cause of crashes for young, novice drivers. Road Safety Council chairman Grant Dorrington said the study showed that most fatal and serious crashes among drivers in their first two years of holding a license did not involve powerful vehicles. And reprt author Peter Palamara said less powerful, smaller & lighter cars could be more dangerous in crashes because they could offer less protection. "Smaller cars with low power-to-weight ratios can also offer very poor protection against injury because of their low vehicle mass" he said. "About 20-30% of risk of being killed in a crash can be attributed to vehicle mass - the greater the mass of the car, the greater chance of surviving the crash". He said that restricting young drivers from having more powerful cars could also deny them the safety of bigger cars. The UWA inquiry research centre study, commissioned by the safety council, called for the proposed restrictions on high powered vehicles for novice drivers to be dismissed. Victoria already has such restrictions and NSW likely to follow. But Mr Dorrington said the research centre recommended that the speeding behaviour of young novice drivers be targeted through changes to the licensing & penalty system, not through access to certain types of vehicles. He said it also reccommended that educational materials be developed and give to both novice drivers & parents highlighting safety features & the need for such drivers to use vehicles that provided them with greater safety & protection. The study examined 662 serious-injury crashes in 1999 & 2000 in WA, and drivers which had not crashed. The power to weight ratio of the crashed vehicles was calculated & compared with the power-to weight ratio of vehicles driven by novice drivers who did not crash in the same period. Only 3% of crashed vehicles had a power-to-weight ratio of more than 100kw a tonne. And only 2 vehicles had power-to-weight ratios above 125kw a tonne, which was the exclusion point under Victorian legislation. Mr Dorrington said the study highlighted speeding as a cause of most serious crashes involving novice drivers & it was common knowledge that speed was the cause of death in 33% of fatalities. But Mr Palamara said people did not have to drive powerful cars to speed. Mr Dorrington said young, inexperienced drivers aged 17-24 were grossly over-represented in the road statistics. They comprised 30% of all fatalities, even though they represented only 14% of WA licence holders. "Consequently, we beleive the proposals for novice drivers which are currently up for public discussion could save up to 28 young lives a year on WA roads". Those proposals revealed by the Sunday Times earlier this month included a night curfew & a total alcohol ban for young drivers.

Haven't had much experience with cops (lucky I guess), but basically I agree with Kyles (Kylie is it?) post. After all, they are just doing there job, BUT it has to be that you have done something wrong, and the majority of people will accept it & take it on the chin. In no way do I agree with the "random" vehicle checks for someone doing the right thing in an import & leaving with a yellow, but if you are pulled over for speeding & happen to disrespect them, that will make your situation worse. A lot of people say that if you just respect & comply with police when they have pulled you over that might be enough to keep you out of trouble, depending on what you have done. But that "anti-hoon" law where they can take your car for spinning your wheels is pure bs though, that sucks. My uncle is a cop in qld (sergeant I think), and next time I talk to him I am going to try & get some inside info & see what the general feel about the import scene & police is all about.

For WA Drivers.....For Those of you that appreciate there cars
ossie_21 replied to Bo05t3d's topic in WA Wasteland
There was something the other day, I think it was Reid Hwy, a shopping trolley was dropped from a bridge & hit a guy in a Hilux, could have killed him if it went through the windscreen. Of course the cops will do ***k all to try & catch the little pricks, so go VIGILANTE!!!! -
If you want to add hp by just changing the ecu & want to modify your car later on, PowerFC. The safc will give you the right air-fuel ratio though, it's just a question of budget. What boost are you running????

Front strut brace and new tyres
ossie_21 replied to Topaz's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I'm getting a strut brace for $55 with a group buy, be well worth the money. All they do is prevent the chassis from bending from serious cornering, consider it a drift tool or a long-life skyline investment, after years of cornering & this simple part has helped keep the shell rigid. Some people have said how much more feel they have for the car when turning, and it actually helps them. So they aren't just for show. -
Yay!! I did it about an hour ago, here's some pointers. They work, trust me: 1 - NEVER try to go too fast past the other cars, keep it to about 275kph when you go past them, this will mean you will still give them your slipstream, meaning they can then get back past you & you pass them again, repeat repeat etc etc. 2 - The third yellow line (the one you start on), try to keep your right hand wheels on this for as much of the course as you can, as this is the main line & it will keep them behind you as much as possible. 3 - Most of the time the AI won't move to overtake you, so if you are going straight look behind you & move out of the way as late as possible to give them a higher speed. Usually move to the right, because they usually prefer the left. 4 - Early on, or even at all, avoid colliding with the other cars because they seem to take it personally (against each other too), and will ram you back, slowing the whole thing down. 5 - I won by 2.8s trying these tactics first shot, I had always kept the same line, but never a lower speed. 6 - Don't get angry that you only get 10k for winning, when most of you have probably spent a couple of hours trying to get this one done.

Seen a few things about this sort of thing, just check all the fluids of your car (coolant, power steering fluid, all of them) and make sure they are all okay. But from what I have seen before it is one of these: 1 - When the car is first starting, it is just the lines filling up quickly & it makes that sound. 2 - There may be a problem with the heater core, otherwise I would say it is an air con problem somewhere else. Just make sure your car isn't leaking coolant either, it *could* be the start of an engine problem. When it makes the sound just check to see if there is a smell coming from the vents, that could lead to the answer too. Good luck with it, hopefully this dosen't effect the car itself. Edit- Just read the first post properly lol, that it isn't with the engine running, so it seems like the heater core, so focus on the AC more than anything, but double check with the fluids anyway.

Sunroofs were an option, at least with S1. Mine was optioned :headspin: And thinking of I don't think I have seen any S2's with them, at least not as from the factory.......................

Imported Car In Sydney
ossie_21 replied to fLipKnot's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
After compliance, the workshop will send all the necessary paperwork to dotars, and once they clear it they will send the compliance plate (that's now actually a sticker). Then it can go to be inspected, and once that's passed then it can be registered. It really just depends on who is going to comply it, you won't be able to drive it from Sydney to Melbourne legally, so if the work is done in Sydney it would be better to go through the pits there & register it, and then drive the car home, but you would have NSW plates. If I was you I would just see how much it would cost to get it brought to Melbourne & get it all done there. Good luck with it all though. -
Imported Car In Sydney
ossie_21 replied to fLipKnot's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
What's the go with the car though??? You have imported it to Sydney??? Buying from someone in Sydney???? If it needs to be re-registered it would have to be inspected, or also if it has just been complied. If it hasn't had compliance, you would have to get it onto the back of a truck & then bought for Melbourne. Just give a bit more info & I (or someone else) would be able to help out more. But when you register any car, you need the engine & chassis numbers, the rest of the paperwork will depend on it's situation (just imported/dealer car etc). -
Considering I was following the road rules in the wet & this happened to me, I would suggest you do nothing illegal at all with a wet surface.
-
Damn, insurance companies are f***ed up!!! I can't see why it would happen like that, but oh well, if you want a 34 go for it then! I am guessing you aren't planning to mod it then, otherwise you would be going against you're reasons for getting one.
-
You won't get cheaper insurance, because the value would be insured for a lot more than you're 33. If you are going to spend more money on a car spend it on what you have now!! (unless something is wrong with it)

Just got back, but the following will make more sense to people familiar with Perth north of the river, but this is for everyone to read: Was about 12:30am, I had just come off the freeway & was heading up Ocean Reef Rd towards Joondalup, when just as I was coming up to the first set of lights I seen a cop car wanting to turn right into Ocean Reef rd. As I was driving up, he then turns on his lights & (my way was green, he just didn't want the red) takes off to get through. I notice the rear end start to slide out a bit, then see him jerk back the other way, then back again for good measure. As he is driving off he then turns his lights off but was still going pretty quick. I thought he had just hit the kerb when he spun out, and was laughing at that as he went past. Because there was no-one else around I took it pretty slowly at the intersection, and on the ground I see a nice display of indicator lights, and then it all fell into place. He took off too quick in the wet when turning, drifted out, hit the kerb, brought it back the other way & spun again, collecting the side of his car (lights at least) on the lamp post. I started pissing myself when I seen this, he is going to have a hell of a time to explain that to his boss, fu**ing hoon. :uh-huh: I guess you had to be there, but that was awesome lol....
