Yeh I had a big install on the weekend and things were NOT going to plan on Saturday afternoon. Should have been finished by around 6pm and then tidying up on Sunday, but I we ended up finishing around 11 on Saturday and working most of Sunday as well. Oh well next time perhaps. This job takes too much time.

Finally the low-down on new defects and demerit points

There's sure going to be a lot of pissed off Gemini and rotary owners in Sydney then -
I'll be there at Roma st tomorrow, if we all meet up there then we can catch up and have a chat, those who want to head down to the coast from there can, those of us with other plans already can go our own ways.
-
ok well I will rock up at Roma St parklands around 8:30 and try to find you then. Hopefully a few more people will show up too. (nudge, nudge everyone). Do you have a exact location or something or is there really just the one car park?

there is a company that does towing anywhere on the gold coast to anywhere on the gold coast for $55. Can't remember the name though. Just give autotech a call and ask for Gavin, say that some people on SDU recommended him and tell him what has happened. He will be able to give you an idea over the phone of the time for parts etc. I would recommend taking it to someone like autotech rather than say a pedders or bob jane as it will end up costing you the same or more and you will get better workmanship and better product from autotech.
-
Try autotech at Labrador then. Bit more expensive but still good guys and good quality work.

Give Mark at Drive Car in Albion a call. I posted his details in the workshop list in the Queensland forum. He should be able to help you out at a reasonable price.

Ok these are the people that I have used for various bits and pieces and they have all be very good and professional and are all familiar with skylines and imports. Drive Car Automotive 2C/88 Lever Street Albion Brisbane PH: 38624522 Speak to Mark I get my car serviced here, he is a good honest guy and doesn't charge the earth. Knows skylines and most other imports pretty well. Gavin Woods Autotech 1/23 Gibbs Street Labrador PH 55292313 Fixed my wheel bearing at a reasonable price I will be going back to get my SAFC fitted and tuned as they are very good with Nissans and Apexi gear. Rob Bliss Exhausts 264 Robinson Road Geebung Brisbane 32652044 Fitted up my exhaust. Did a good job at a great price. They are very helpful with suggestions plenty of suggestions on how to get the sound you want, how to eliminate drone etc. I have been screwed around by a lot of other places in Brisbane with my current car, but the three above have all been very helpful and professional and will continue to get my business and recommendations.

I'm up for meeting at Roma st for a chat and then a drive and something to eat or whatever but I am not going down the coast this weekend either. I have to work all day Saturday and Sunday so can't really afford to. From the looks of things though there will not be too many showing up anywhere at this stage.

Well the weekend is getting close people. Is something happening or not? If so then what & when?
-
I'll be there for sure if it is around 9 that we all meet up.

GABS Front shocks for R32
Zer0 replied to Joe's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
If you want to talk about audio stuff send me an email at [email protected] . Happy to help or offer any suggestions that I can. -
That's right you need to be very aware of everything around you and never ASSUME that other drivers have seen you or care that you are there as you have no protection if they hit you. There is always a risk, that is why rider training courses are good as they teach you to be more aware of your surroundings, always leave yourself escape routes etc. I think everyone should have to do the basic rider training course as it also improves your driving skills and your awareness of other vehicles and potential hazards around you.

Eek - CBR250 is a good bike, I had one of those and quite enjoyed it. Imports are fine, mine was an import. It is EXACTLY the same as the locally sold model and there are no hassles with parts, or servicing etc. Be careful when buying and make sure that the bike is in good nic and runs nicely. A lot of people wind back the klms on these and a lot of them have been put down the road as they are generally a learner bike. If you find one and want someone to take a look at it with you send me a PM. Xrsist - I would never speed on public roads  Actually I am generally very controlled on public roads as it is not worth the risk. Riding a bike is definately more risky than driving a car, that is why all of your rider training etc is all about minimising the risk to yourself. Being alert, positioning yourself correctly on the road, emergency stopping and taking off, what to do if you CAN'T avoid an accident to minise the risk to yourself etc. I have had a reasonably bad accident already and got straight back on (as soon as I could move my leg again!!) and still love riding, but am a lot more controlled now that I am no longer young and invincible.

Try Drive Car in Albion. They are close to the city and know skylines pretty well. They do good work and don't charge the earth for it.
-
tempting....

I would still rather take the bike out for a blast on the weekend than the car. Car just can't compare to leaning a bike over through a corner at 180klm/h.

Personally I like the highend JVC MP3 unit, the Alpine is quite nice and the sound quality is comparable if not slightly better than the JVC, but it costs a lot more. Well over $1k everywhere I have seen. I did see a kenwood 9020R MP3 headunit in Brisbane car sound today and it looks really shmick, and I generally don't like kenwood gear so that is high praise. No idea what it sounds like though.

get an Alpine MRV757, I have one driving my 10" Orion XTRPRO Dual voicecoil and its awesome.

GABS Front shocks for R32
Zer0 replied to Joe's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Presuming this is my old car then they are just shocks and springs, damper adjustable only. Not coil overs. They are lowered a bit and the car did sit very nicely on them. -
I can recommend two workshops that I have had experience with who could do this and know skylines quite well. Mark at drive car does good work and has good prices and is also close to the city. Autotech a bit more pricey but also very good with skylines, but they are in labrador so a bit more out of the way if you are in Brisbane. Drive Car 2C/88 Lever Street Albion PH 3862 4522 Ask for Mark Gavin Woods Autotech 1/23 Gibbs St Labrador PH 55292313

Just call Gold Coast Car Sound at Slacks Creek. They have them and they fit perfectly and look like factory ones. They put one in when doing my car as I just had a double din sized hole in the dash before Should only be a couple of bucks.

How much would just the flat boot lid be?

You have to have the right attitude on a bike and ride sensibly in order to minise the risk to yourself. Also good gear is essential. I came off once in jeans and an old windbreaker type jacket and lost most of the skin off my right arm and took a big chunk out of my knee. Not pleasant. Particularly when you have to sit on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere for 3.5hours waiting for a tow truck. I had a pack of smokes and a bottle of water in my bag and I finished both. Didn't realise how badly I had hurt myself until I got home cause of the huge adrenaline rush.
