  1. Yes. We needed to have 6 confirmed cars today if it was going to go ahead. There is always Small Car Sunday etc. for the rest whose cars needed wheels, bodykits, paint etc Perhaps next year.
  2. There will NOT be an SAU display this year, we only managed to get 5 confirmed entries today, so the plug has been pulled. Thanks to those who were willing to enter and either attended the meeting or let me know in advance they couldnt make it.

  9. An epidural isnt without risk, easy to say have one, but there is a very small chance of longterm damage/peralisis. Tell her to take a teaspoon of cement (then run fast LOL) End of the day its her body and she has the final say (unless your a scientoligist). I'm in favoiur of trying natural first unless there are reasons not to (as was the case with my wife, nearly lost her life before an ambulance trip to another hospital and an emergency c-section).
  10. Hi Nene Its very rarely like this, (most go to NS.COM) for that rubbish. Just a bit of fun that wasnt taken the way it was intended, a few drinks/cruises and all will be fine again.
  11. I was trying to find the same analogy earlier and post it, but I bow to your google skills over mine. LOL
  12. Sits back and watches, this could be fun LOL I am guessing your comment "I'll cop being called a princess" means you were in the navy. (throws another log on the fire - sits back to watch the flames LOL) PS - LOL = Laugh out loud FLAME = argument over the internet mid life crisis was just taking the piss, buy each other a beer and get over it.
  13. 2 comments What do you expect to hear from a radio station whose target demographic is 20-30 year old women? As suggested switch to another station or listen to the CD/IPod/MP3. As for the pain, Yes I am sure it can be painful BUT - over 50% of children are delivered via Caesarean, most/many women have an epidural even for natural births, so I guess there are only a handful (slight exaggeration) of women in Australia who could truly comment. The other fact is that women’s bodies were built to deliver children; it isn’t anything more than the body can cope with. Anatomically the Vagina has very few nerves which makes sense when you consider its function.
  14. Th catch is the fitting time When I replaced my front bar recently we went through 4 of them before we found one the workshop were happy to spend time fitting (the others required too much work) All of the bars we ordered were NEW fiberglass from supposedly reputable bar manufacturers (there were several companies we wouldn't even look at). Given the choice I would have ordered plastic from the manufacturer, but that wasn't an option.
  15. In the early years, WorkCover theorised that they could save money by ignoring the Legislative intent and begin offering substantially lower redemptions to permanently injured Workers on benefits. The WorkCover Board agreed and applied the strategy from 2000. In 2001 the Actuary (John Walsh) allowed the projected cost savings. The value of redemptions fell 65 % in real terms between 2000 and 2006. The number of redemptions fell 80 % over the same period. By 2003 the incoming Government had removed the former Actuary and their new Actuary identified the policy was flawed and warned it had created the reverse effect to that theorised leading to increased continuance thus a blowout in the claims liability. In 2000 WorkCover had an outstanding claims liability of $277 Million and by 2007 the outstanding claims liability had increased to $2.3 Billion. The compounding impact on a liability this size is $100 Million Despite including the Actuaries warning in his first Annual Report, Mr Carter and the WorkCover Board took no action to cease the pilot strategy and it was this inaction that cost South Australia $2 Billion Dollars. By no longer paying redemptions that extinguish the long tail benefits, WorkCover began to bank money and lots of it. In 2000 WorkCover had just $50 Million in cash and investments and by 2007, WorkCover had $1.4 Billion in cash and investments. WorkCover’s decision that what Mr Clayton called “the strategic implementation of Redemptions” become an offer of token redemption followed by attempts to bully injured workers into acceptance failed. With the 180 permanently incapacitated Workers annually rejecting token redemption offers remaining on benefits the multi Billion Dollar claims liability we are now confronted with evolved. As the number of Workers trapped on benefits increased it created jobs for some 300 administrative and case management staff and increased the annual operational cost of running WorkCover by 100 percent. WorkCover employed spin doctors to suggest the increasing number of permanently injured Workers trapped on benefits were somehow malingerers and used the skew in numbers to suggest a declining return to work rate was responsible for the mess their errant corporate policy had created. The truth is there has been NO change in Annual Return to Work rates, just an increasing number of permanently disabled workers trapped on benefits creating the anomalous skew in the figures. The solution to the WorkCover problem can be found through compliance with the existing Legislation, not in slashing the rights of Injured Workers. The unfunded liability is a Rann stunt to further continue down a path of ecconomic rationalism at the expence of society. The unfundel liability of which they speak is the cost if all workcover clients were to remain on the scheme until retirement, and ignores the fact that most are only in the scheme for les than 12 months. In 1996 the number of Workers on Benefits for 12 months or less was 2141 and in 2006 the number was also 2141. For 24 months or less between 1996 and 2006 the number increased from 2640 to 2788 an increase of less than 1.5%. The number of workers on benefits for periods greater than 24 months increased from a low of 1126 in 1999 to 2788 in 2006. This represents an increase of just 179 Permanently Injured Workers per annum. Workers who have suffered a Workplace Injury of significant consequence that they remain on Benefits for 36 months or greater have only a 6% chance of returning to work. The $ value of claims paid out by the scheme increased marginally from $343m in 1997 to $426m in 2007, an increase of just 24%. The CPI increased 29% over the same period. In contrast, Scheme Revenues increased from $375m to $734m over the same period representing an increase of 97% Scheme assets, predominantly cash on investment increased from $648m in 1997 to $1.5 Billion in 2007. If my home budget was as healthy as this I would be very happy.
  16. I can either talk you through it over the phone, or drop it off an my place and collect it the next day. I have just set up a heap of laptops and PC's for work, all needed Vista removed and XP installed.
  17. It is an offense to sell an unroadworthy car from a car yard, so police often do random inspections at car yards. As for defecting a legal car, the officer only has to BELIEVE the car doesn't comply with ADR's, there is no onus of proof or accountability. It would be up to you to prove the officer know the car was legal and was deliberately discriminating/harassing you (very hard to prove this usually)
  18. Hi Johnzey Congrats on the new car, Welcone to SAU, hope to catch up at a cruze one day.
  19. Sounds like your day didnt get any better LOL
  20. Funny that you saw it as being about males Think back, can't you think of females who do things to stand out and say "look at me" You need to look beyond the behaviour and exame the function it serves for the individual.
  21. I am no fan of CGT, but there is a legit way to beat it, but it isn't suitable for all peoples circumstances. Remember you only pay CGT if you sell, and there are ways to gain the equity without selling. The CGT is based on 50% of the profit you make (after adjusting prices for inflation over the time of ownership), so if you can do this in a year with very little income (ie when retired) you will be taxed at the marginal rate. The other side to this argument of too high a tax rate is that its out taxes that pay for all the public services and infrastructure, if we pay less tax as a population then the services will also reduce . I would be happier to see a simplified GST system with fewer deductions so that those who spend more - pay more. Get rid of all these fees, duties and levies (as was promised by the states when GST was introduced) and make the bis spenders contribute their fair share rather than using tax minimization strategies. (however until this time I will keep my accountant and minimize my tax as much as I can)
  22. I would recommend Damien, from Special FX paint He removed a dent on my car, the work was A1, as was the service. (he also does work for car yards and crash shops) Phone him on 0419779192 and tell him Guy sent you.
  23. PS, 42% of all motorcycle fatalities are single vehicle accidents, which might indicate that protective clothing isnt making a huge difference. and if we play with the figures which say that "One in ten motorcyclists killed were not wearing a helmet", then you are 9 times more likely to be found dead if you are wearing a helmet LOL
  24. Hmmm, where to start - perhaps if i use smaller words Agreed - defensive driving and attitude is very important (i never said otherwise), but the on a bike you have much less PHYSICAL protection, this is what protects you in an accident, attitude helps reduce the chance of an accident, but Physical Protection is what will keep you alive if you have an accident - luck not withstanding figures show that motorcyclists are 23 times more likely to be killed on the road than car drivers Motorcyclists now account for almost 15 per cent of all road deaths despite making up only 4.5 per cent of registered vehicles in Australia - 2008 figures http://www.minister.infrastructure.gov.au/.../AA038_2008.htm Figures show the car is much safer. again, in little words, - IMO (hence the start of that sentence - "I think") a car driver with a $25 bike helmet will be safer "in the car" than a motorcyclist "on a bike" having the same accident because the car has so many innate safety features built in to it that bikes can't/don't have. Given the choice of hitting a solid object (a wall/back of a truck, tree etc) at a given speed what would you rater do it with, a bike with a rider in $3000 protective gear or in a car wearing thongs and a singlet and a $25 helmet Did I say it wasn't the case for cars as well? a 130km/hr crash in a car or bike on the road is most likely a fatality, and no amount of protective gear will help you if you hit something and stop suddenly. Leathers and helmets will just make it easier to poor the body parts into a coffin rather than searching all over to find them. Stats in the article above show 9 out of 10 motorcyclists were wearing helmets, but it didn't help them. (and lets not start the argument about full faced vs open faced and broken necks). Again, this is my opinion, but helmets in road cars would have a greater effect on the number of Acquired Brain Injuries than on fatalities. I think in most cases the fatality would still occur, but for accident survivors the consequences could be a lot less severe. PEACE OUT
