Automatic Transmission Shift Kit. - Updated Oct 2006
4door_Sleeper replied to 4door_Sleeper's topic in Group Buys
Hi I know that several people from overseas have purchased this kits, and were happy with theprobucts and after sales support. I had a look for an email address but I cant find one, so it may require a phone call (08) 8370 0430 or a fax to get a price for shipping to europe. (or if u have lots of money i'll happily deliver it to you if you pay for my airfare LOL) -

Hi Darren I,m also curious - did u solve this, and if so what was the problem? -
I was in a similar situation 5 months ago, and was told that any items not specifically mentioned on my insurance policy (e.g. the turbo and stereo) could be swapped for stock parts prior to the insurance company taking the car. For $3500 it sounds like it would be worth you wrecking it yourself. If you need a hand or some tools let me know as I’m happy to help out where I can (for the odd beer whilst working LOL) Glad to here you wernt hurt.

I bought one of these for my series 1 from Nissan, cost something like $10 (go figure when they want $200 for some plastic clips)

Give him a call and mention this SAU group buy and he will look after you. Initially this wasnt one of those "if we can get 20 people" type of group buys, but rather a deal I set up with MV Automatics if he could produce his kits for a discounted price. I believe that they modify many types of auto-trans, some require valve bodies, others can be modified electronically - just call him and ask. -
Brakes and tail lights are on different circuits, the fact that one works could indicate that it isn’t a grounding issue. Have you tried making the line hot (adding 12V) to see if the lights come on, then trace the curcuit backwards until it fails. (I am assuming you used a test light at the brake pedal switch to show that the switch was working)

Looking for a Trust front bar - prefer plastic to glass, but if you have (or know of) a quality glass bar in Adelaide I would be keen to buy it.
-
All I want is a nice Trust front bar for my R33 series 1. I have tried several aftermarket glass bars but the quality of the bars has been substandard. If you have a genuine (plastic) bar or a very good glass bar I would love to hear form you.
-
My car is nearly finished - I found a repairer that could fix it within the Insurance companies limits. All I need now is to find a nice front bar (I like the TRUST bars - but finding a good one seems impossible)
-
If an insurance company declare it a write off (economical or otherwise) it can not be registered again in Australia.(the costs make it prohibitive with engineering inspections etc for regency - and it MUST have a FULL regency inspection) I found this out when I was looking at buying back my car after front end damage. (I would be able to fix it but never register it again) My only alternative was to take it to another repairer who was able to fit some "Reconditioned" parts rather than new from Nissan parts.

I went the GCG aproach and am very happy with the results, I have since heard people are happy with the SLIDE highflow (SAU Trader I think). There are local (Adelaide) places who will also highflow turbos but my research indicated they were more reliable at 14PSI, but didnt make any more power than a stock turbo (my opinions and findings after talking to dyno shops).

Yes - id do every one. Big ones empty the radiator fast, but a little one wont take long either. Chances are by the time you notice the temp guage in the red the damage will already be done (new motor time) While you are at it, replace the fuel lines as well.
-
When the first leak was fixed it would have sealed the system again. As a result the pressure would be higher, and the next weakest hose would let go. Sounds very much to me like you are still running the original hoses, so its time to replace them all before the next one lets go.

im in for the Boot sound deadener (and clips) if it fits on a sedan (I believe it will) (My car may be back on the road in a few weeks - at last) -
Tell them that you spoke to the RAA, (and you can phone them for advice if you like) who found their comments very funny, and recommended you contact consumer affairs if they dont do the right thing. (ie a replacement) An alternator is bolted onto the side of the motor - how is thrashing the car going to do that type of damage? - the most they could argue is that the car was constantly reved past red line, (and they would need to point to some proof of this) and even then i would bet the motor breaks before the alterator (even on a skyline) Go back and ask for a full refund or for it to be fixed properly.
-
I agree - sounds to me like there is a problem in the windings, and a new set of brushes and bearings will never fix that. Firm suspension shouldnt make any difference (not in the time frames you are talking here) Ask for a new replacement altinator, that one sounds like a lemon. If the problem persists I would be looking for some problem with your wiring, but fuses should be blowing first.
-
LOL - this sounds like a line the girls use when paying exorbitant prices for shoes or handbags. An oil cooler is VERY VERY low tech, and shouldn’t be very expensive. Sure a solid gold unit will be good for heat transfer, but I doubt any of us would see the benefit for the price.
-
Hi Allan I guess u also checked the dip stick and under the oil cap and all was clean (this would be your worst case scenario if u find grey slime there) My advice would be to drive it down to a radiator workshop and get them to pressure test your system, you can often pick up leaks this way. Corrosion on any hose connector could be a problem (though many if not most cars this age would have some degree if corrosion). Another thing to consider are all of the other hoses, are they original? - if so they are probably due to be changed. Get this fixed now, because its very expensive once you cook an engine, and its easier to do than most people think (don’t trust the temp gauge)
-
I would highly reccomend Des Higgins - expensive but the work is top quality.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. On the advice and comments I have recieved from here i will order the bar Thanks again
