  1. If a motor is built correctly there is no need to baby it like this. You do need to bed in the rings etc but the engine shop should do this before you are given the car back. I agree with the frequent oil changes, but I dont recall seeing Schumaker touring around the F1 track with a "please overtake - running in" sighn on the back of the car. (and those motors are tuned to the limit) Likewise Nissan dont insist on GTR's beeing run in on low boost, the car is ready to go from the moment you pick it up. I am not advocating you thrash the engine, but babying it can also be bad in the long run.
  2. It would be cheaper to get it all put in and tuned at the same time. After runnin it in for a while you could push it a bit harder. (ie retune it again)
  3. True executive power needs to be derived from a mandate of the masses (not some farcical aquatic ceremony)
  4. Yeh - sorry my mistake. Might be worth asking if anyone on the forums has a sander they can lend you. You can do more with a sander in one day than in a week by hand. (But dont let your girlfriend near it, you'll never get it back) :aroused:
  5. Hey Sambio, whats wierd?
  6. no problem. :Pimp2: I have a week of from the 9th to the 17th :uh-huh:
  7. Looking at some of those bull’s eyes it may indicate you need a bit of bodywork or at least a high fill primer. Did you say you are doing it all by hand? It can be hard not to get rub marks in the car if you are doing it all by hand, can you at least get a block, or better still an oscillating orbital sander (air tool) to do the majority of the work. You will need to finish it off by hand, but to do the whole lot by hand is a big job. PS any little imperfection will look 10 times worse with a coat of paint on it. Before you paint it get someone with a good eye to go over it and highlight the bits that need more work. The first time I painted a car my preparation wasn’t good enough (after a week of work) and the car looked almost as bad with the new coat of paint on it.
  8. On a similar line a story today on the radio listed Ford Festiva and Holden Barina as beeing amongst the most dangerous cars on the road (partly due to their light weight) but listed the larger family cars as beeing safer. The comment was then made that there were other surprize safe cars such as skylines. At last some good press about an import, even if it was a bit of an off the cuff comment by the reporter.
  9. Hi Guys Selling my wifes (our second) R33 sedan Bargain price at $14,000 Many extras (front mount, Bleed valve, Apexi SAFCII, Apexi SRPM, Apexi ITC, HKS Turbo Timer, 3inch exhaust from the turbo back. Great car and a bargain at this price. PM me for more info.
  10. If a link to the source of this document could be found to verify its comments, it would be worth members sending a copy of the report to their local members of parliment allong with their own reasons why such legislation shouldnt be passed.
  11. Saw a cheap R33 4 door skyline for sale today parked on Golden grove Rd.
  12. Dont get the GTS if you are thinking I can convert it later to a GTSt (its not worth it for the cost and headache)
  13. Whilst we are on the subject I thought I'd share a little bit of information with you and explain why having your teeth pulled out hurts so much. The first misconception is that the teeth are pulled out; I was told this only works with young children loosing their milk teeth. It was explained to me that teeth removal is a lot like removing a post from the ground. By pushing a pry bar down next to the tooth, pressure is exerted on the gum and tooth. If you push down hard enough (the whole isn’t big enough for both) something has to give, and the tooth pops up. This explains why you feel so much force when they remove teeth, I had always wondered why I felt I was being pushed into the seat and nor pulled out of the seat.
  14. I recently bought a car in from Queensland. Do yourself a favour and take it to the Sturt Depot rather than regency park. The guys there were helpful and friendly. My car had a few mods but they looked past these and just checked the VIN and engine number.
  15. I havent heard of this problem with anyone else. I am not sure but could the problem be the kick down sensor? it may be forcing the auto down a gear when it shouldnt, and hence holding it down.
  16. Have a look in the group buys section. We have set up a deal with Mike at MV Automatics. It should answer all of your questions and give you the oppinions of others who have gone down this path. If you have any other questions give Mike a call he really knows his stuff.
  17. Can you PM me the name of the workshop (I have an idea, but I might be wrong)
  18. The box is quite strong. The biggest killer is overheating (true of any auto) so if you add a cooler, and a shift kiy (to increase gear change speed and hence reduce friction and heat) they should see you through quite well.
  19. Oil and waterlines need to be modified, but that shouldnt take too long for a workshop.
  20. It would be wise to install injectors aswell. I have a rising rate reg, and bigger fuel pump but I am limited to 14psi boost because my injectors are already at 90%. With injectors I shoud get over 250rwkw.
  21. Yes. Took nearly 2 weeks (but we did it on the 2nd of January and shipping was a bit slow due to the x-mass new-year holliday rush. I think its about 1hr to remove turbo, 1 hour to install then dyno time.
  22. That sounds a bit expensive. The job is easy and quick enough on an R33. I paid less than that and the job included shipping, new coolant and oil, and time on the dyno to reprogram my PFC. I guess if it wasnt an R33 then that may take a bit longer.
  23. The easiest and cheepest way was to get it fitted by a workshop (I used Morpowa) because GCG offered a discount if a workshop fit it. The discount payed for the installation and tune.
  24. I've encountered the same problems myself. My advice is to ring your local Nissan dealer - parts are either in stock or take a week to arrive, and the prices of some bits are ridiculously cheep (whilst others are ridiculously expensive), so its often worth a call first.
  25. Sorry for the late reply, I am having internet speed issues (I think its fixed now - spent the last 45 min on the phone with the help desk) I have a GCG hi-flow on my 33. (Since I am on broadband I sometimes leave to internet on even though I am not at the PC - sorry if this makes it look like I ignored you. )
