Tien HR type coil overs. $1700 any good?
4door_Sleeper replied to PALADN's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have TEINS HA's fitted to one of my R33s, and they made a big difference to the handling (yes they are firm, but not too bad unless you are on corrigated roads) My other R33 has the stock shocks but the rest of the Whiteline pack (bars, camber kit etc) and it is also nice to drive but in a very different way (it will byte and pull sideways on some surfaces). Im not sure which I prefer, it depends on the condition of the road I'm on. -
Another sugestion - it could be a bad earth problem.
-
I think there is some confusion here - I think R33ing is talking about the tail lights. Series 1 and 2 headlights on the 4 door differ from the 2 doors because they have a crome finish rather than black. The tail lights are very different from the coupe, but the series 2 protrude (as Nozilla said) and the series 1 are flush.

Hi Roy I have to agree with you I dont know how many times I have read of 200rwkw with only an exhaust and pod filter :bs!: even allowing for bad dyno results I cant believe these figures. I guess its an ego thing. I admit I dont always tell my wife the cost of some of my mods, but on the forums I tell it as it is. 220wkw isnt a lot, but I have it, and my rwkw seem to be better than others who claim a lot more but cant keep up with me.

I am not bagging the probuct, because I have never tried it, but do they insist on you disconnecting the battery? because any positive charge from the product (and I am not sure where they purchase positive charge from) will be met by negative charge from the battery. I am always a bit sceptical about these positiv or negative charged products and their claims.

I have trouble replying to this without starting a flame war, or access to something to hit you around the head with but here goes. Silicon will last longer than wax (it just will!) Much of the anti silicon stuff comes from crash shops that don’t prep the job well enough prior to touch ups. The silicon penetrates better than wax and you need to remove it prior to painting. If Maguire’s is such "crap" why is it one of the most common polishes used at car shows? (there are only 1 or 2 other brands enthusiasts use) I agree wax can give a great effect, but in my experience the silicon is just as good and lasts a lot longer. I wonder if you used a silicon polish on top of a waxed surface and it was the wax that stoped the silicon bonding to the paint. next time cut and polish then wax/silicon and see which lasts longer.

[Spotted] The Best Exhaust Tip EVER!!! - Where can i get one?
4door_Sleeper replied to Oosh's topic in South Australia
No - I saw it when I had profix fix my dump pipe. I prefer the old 3 inch round pipe and a generous amount of Vasolin (sp?) the edges on that tip would chafe. -

4door_Sleeper replied to Oosh's topic in South Australia
If you are serious (and I hope your not) you can get these from Profix at Modbury. They are just a tip so it shouldnt be expensive. -
I would advise you to un-know them real quick because they will be asking for others to give them a ride for a while. If you (your friend) have access to good lawers it may help reduce the sentence, but be prepared to pay.

Cost for sandblasting doors/boot
4door_Sleeper replied to paulr33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
dont do it if you are after a quality finish. It can stretch the metal and its next to impossible to get all the grit out from the seams and inner panels. Its quick and cheap, but not the thing for a show car. If the car is a daily driver and you are on a budget it may be OK. -
Automatic Transmission Shift Kit. - Updated Oct 2006
4door_Sleeper replied to 4door_Sleeper's topic in Group Buys
I have no regrets -
Do both a compressiontest and a Leak down test. (also known as a wet and dry compression test) The leakdown test will indicate the condition of the head (because the oil should help seal the rings) and the difference between the two will give an indication of the cylinder and rings.

Exhaust Types - Better or Worse?
4door_Sleeper replied to ProjectRSR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
not quite remember your year 9 maths - area of a circle is pi times the radius squared. so a 3 inch pipe has an area of approx 28.25 inches a pipe of 5 inches has an area of 78.5 and 2 x 2.5 inch pipes have an area of 39.35 which is about the same as a single 3.5 inch system. You dont want ANY back pressure in an exhaust system - this is an old wives tale. The ideal system would exit via a huge just pipe behind the turbo. In a normally asperated system there are a few complications to do with harmonics. In this case you require some exhaust length to establish the correct harmonic and this is often mistaken for back pressure which is a non desired by-product. -
Can I play too I've now got 2 silver R33 4 doors

Hi BMWpaul (and welcome) My sedan is modified, (as listed in my signature) but I have had no problems with the police (touch wood) I put this down to my car being a sedan (not as obvious as a coupe) that I am not an 18year old in a sports car, and that it isnt dropped onto the ground, and my exhaust isnt too loud. I believe in general if you dont hoon infront of the police or give them anything obvious to pick on then you should be fine. I would recomend a Stagea or a Sedan, both great cars and a little different than the normal coupes

Thoughts on Tein Coilovers
4door_Sleeper replied to PSI_GTSII's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have Teins on my 33 gtst, yes they are firm, but not as bad as people say. On some country roads they are a bit too firm, but around town they are good. A big improvement in cornering, but a bit skittish at high speeds on corrugated country roads. Not sure if I would want them for a drive between Adelaide and Perth (probably true for most sports setups), but I only do a few 1000 kms a year anyway. -
The idea sound fine, and I am all for more sedans on the road but.... I doubt you would ever get it registered with a V8 in it (at least not in SA, I am not so sure about NSW) and the hassle for engineering and certification could cost a mint. Have you measured to see if it will fit? (is the engin bay wide enough?) Most sedans are automatic, but if you were to do this change it may be easier to install ae engine and transmissin from the infinity. Prices vary a lot, so look around and you should find a nice ine for between 14 and 17,000.

4door_Sleeper replied to grepin's topic in South Australia
That sounds like responsible policing. Cop "Hey - these things need to be fixed, if I see you with them next time it wont be a warning." You "not a problem" then goes and gets it done. Every one is happy, problems fixed. If only the highway patrol were as understanding. -
OK - how about a 1994 R33 series 1 sedan. Any pictures?

Thanks Kym I'll be there unless I am on the road with our new car. (we just purchased another 4 door in queensland, so we have a road trip to do some time very soon)
