  1. I'm keen. Since its a latish start, how about a cruise/dinner run that ends up at Kart Mania? The run could pick people up allong the way and end up at Richmond.
  2. I went down south to get Sillens Special Vehicles to fit/modify my body kit. They are at Lonsdale and their work is A1.
  3. Just a thought - the big killer of Autos is heat, and the slower the shift the more heat they produce. (but the smoother the ride for the general public) The shift kits that are being sold through the group buys section seem to be a hit, and they too give quick shifts, and reportly wont harm the longevity of the auto. SK, are you comming down to Malalar soon? the offer is still there if you want to try out my auto R33 with the PFC.
  4. Sunlight will deteriorate rubber, but modern tyres with silica etc in them shouldn’t suffer to the same degree.
  5. These lights are called "idiot lights", because you are an idiot for letting things get to this state in the first place (not to say I havnt had them come on for me once or twice) It means get to a servo as soon as possible. PS - the one I hate to see is an oil warning light (it usually means pull over and call a tow truck)
  6. Yes its still going. Ring MV Automatics (see page 1 for details).
  7. Great stuff nedb Spread the work and remember to return those old valve bodies so that others can get their kit posted out. I'm glad the rest of you are as pleased as I was with this kit. I was initially worried about recommending the kit (I dont usually recomend anything unless I am sure) for fear that others wouldnt think it was as good as I did. I think bang for buck it is probably up there with a new turbo, it makes a huge difference.
  8. I've heard of auto beeing picked up (second hand) for as little as $200 - most wreckers just can't get rid of them. Check out the Group buy section to see if anyone in your area has purchased and installed a shift kit, that will give you a good idea of what quick shifts should be like. The nissan box is a bit quicker than a holden or ford slush box, but your description sound a bit harsh for a standard box. Personally I like the auto (after the shift kit was installed), catch up with some other autos and ask for a ride to compare yours and theirs.
  9. I love my SO3s - had SO2s, they were great, but even with increased rwkw the SO3s have done really well (wet and dry) Has anyone here had both Michelin Pilot and Bridgestone SO3's to give a comparison?
  10. Whilst I agree with the 100mm rule listed above (a minimum for any car) I understand there is also a rule where they measure from the centre of the wheel to the top of the wheel arch. (I think the logic is that if you were to dump a 4x4 with 600mm of road clearance down to 100mm, you would alter the suspensions geometry so much that it could become unsafe) This measurement is meant to be set by the factory and in effect makes it next to impossible to lower a car without an engineers certificate. (I don’t agree with it, but do know of others who have been caught)
  11. Heading down to the shell on West trc, will be there from 7:20 - 7:30 if your in the area drop on in.
  12. no takers? I'll head out around 7:00
  13. Spent the day cleaning the car, its all shinny now, and wanted to go for a bit of a drive this afternoon. Is anyone else out there going for a drive? (may stop out for tea as well)
  14. Any dates we need to avoid in April? - Give me some ideas of good or bad dates and then I'll start a new thread for people to add their names to.
  15. Its a bit like a BBQ/stir fry - but the contents are selected by you. Last time I went all the basic ingredients are prepared in separate bays, (pre cut and ready to cook) and you pick out the bits you want (i.e. beef, chicken, carrots, cabbage, etc, etc) you then add the sauces you want (can be hot and spicy through to mild and sweet) Take it over to the cooks who cook it on a great big shield/hot plate and your done. For cops like me a benefit is that you can go back again and again and again and try all kinds of combinations.
  16. hey gtrghostdog, any word yet? Its about time for our next dinner.
  17. save money and just get an exhaust tip. do it properly and get a split dump pipe and 3 inch system. (new or second hand) just my 2cents worth.
  18. Great news tikki169. Have fun giving those manuals a run, I now find that in a street drag (on private roads of course) that even if we pull off at the same time and at the same rate, the gear changes will be where I pull ahead. I have to agree, bang for buck it makes a great difference to the drive.
  19. Anyone elseinstalled theirs yet? - And if so how did it go
  20. Very nice babe fest. Good to catch up with you guys, I will be back again on Sunday if you are passing by drop in and say hello.
  21. 12:45 is good. which is the eastern side? We are always on the side closest to the Clipsal Merchandise tent (used to be a smaller beer tent) I'll have a clipsal hat on (with a chekered flag and tacho) - Anyone got phone numbers? PM me and I will give you mine. (heading in at 9:30)
  22. We are always under the shade of the (multi coloured umbrella thing) opposite the start finish line. (Seats are second row back, right on the start finish line) Catch anyone who is around.
  23. Didnt see anyone at the Clipsal today :-( (got to take my glasses tomorrow) How about a meet up at 1:00 under the big umbrella thing (lots of colours and fabric with chairs and tables under it) its behind the G section (not the G spot - I can never find that thing) of the Barry Sheen Grandstand - in line with the start finish line. - Dont tell me you couldnt find it after thad description :-)
  24. When trying to get the fastest time I found that overdrive cuts in too early (ie at 5000 rpm instead of 7000 - made these figures up to show what I meant, and as I can'rt remember the shift point) Overdrive isnt thwe best when trying to accelerate as it reduces the torque - great for fuel ecconomy, but crap for acceleration.
