  1. There are old farts on this forum too.. (just look at my avtar)
  2. What condition is the rubber boot in between the air filter nand the turbo? this could be sucking closed and causing some of the problems you mentioned. You are also likley to hit the factory boost limit unless you make changes to your ECU. PS - yes there is a factory rev limiter
  3. I too ran a SAFE??? 13 psi on my stock turbo (for a few years now) but recently the impeller chipped and now I am looking at a new turbo. I dont think you could tell by looking at the turbo that its good ar bad (with regards to stress cracks) you can only get an idea of the bearings/seals condition. I would have expected low 13's not high 13's. Read the syickt thread on getting low 13's with a relativly stock 33.
  4. Thanks for the help Guys.
  5. My wife is looking for a newer car, and is keen on a Stagea. We have given one in Adelaide a drive and is seems good, but a bit pricey. (asking $29,000, but has offered it for $26,000). The car has 37,000km, but lacks the sun roof(s) leather interior (would like to try/see this) and cruise control. I have seen Stageas for around $20,000 in this forum so the price offered seems a bit high. One option (since we are not in a rush) is to import our own (with a few extras such as exhaust, intercooler PFC? already on it), but who can comply them? I don’t believe there is anyone in Adelaide, so I expect to have to travel to pick up the car. Any advice would be much appreciated.
  6. Are you after one to clear a defect (borrow), or to purchase?
  7. Don’t worry if the 2005 SAU Calender is a Vic only show, its well proven that when they open it up to interstate competition they loose. :usuck: Now when was the last time a Vic team won a couple of AFL premierships?? For that matter how many have they won in the last 15 years?? :headspin:
  8. I am 99.9% sure its not illegal to take out multiple insutance pollicies on a vehicle, BUT it is illegal to make multiple claims on one incident. You would probably have to declare multiple insurance policies (if asked), but there isnt any greater risk to the insurance industry (not just your insurer as they are themselves underwritten by one of only a few companies) so long as they only pay once.
  9. your front support has been cut, either to fit a bifferent (from standard) bar, or to help fit an intercooler and pipes. Dont sweat they have saved you some work. When your intercooler arrives you will see clearly how it bolts up (mine bolts onto the chassis rails, others come with brackets that extend back to the body work)
  10. straight back at you big guy.
  11. We can offer a place (ours) for folks to meet and have a drink or 2, BBQ etc. Quiet street with ample parking and no through traffic (safe for skylines) Its kid friendly so partners and kids wouldnt be a problem. Let me know if anyone wants it here (Tea Tre Gully area)
  12. Great night out, good food and good company. Next get together is the first Saturday in February (5th I think) at a location to be found.
  13. The booking is for 15, a few more shouldn't be a problem if we can let them know. If we are a few short it will give me some elbow room. :-)
  14. Krone - most of the rb engines run rich when they are off of boost, but if you start to increase the boost they can get too lean, which is dangerous at that end of the rev range and when under load. The other reason for using an aftermarket regulator is that the std injectors are at there limit at a little over 200rwkw, so the regulator allows you to push it a little further without the expence of new injectors ($800 - 1000 for RB25). If you wanted bigger rwkw >250 you should be considering injecrors, but if you are only pushing 220 then the regulator is cheap insurance for your motor. So you are right in that it wont give you any more power, but it will give you more scope to tune the engine and a little bit of insurance against a blown motor.
  15. I spoke to GCG and they wanted $1900 for a hi flow with ball bearings, and $1300 for a bush bearing. At the end of the day I would still have fairly stock turbo that could flow a little bit more. The VG30 costs less than $400 and also looks like its a straight bolt on option, and if I do decide to hi flow a turbo the VG30 has a bit more scope again than the std turbo.
  16. and this comes from a guy who made the following comment in another thread I think he has a short memory
  17. The booking is in their books for Sunday, (just rang to confim it) so if oeple can make it on Sunday thats a possibility.
  18. I can make it but the place is booked out. Any other locations?? (drinks are cheeper at a BBQ)
  19. Just Spoke To The Guys At The British, They Claim Our Booking Was On Sunday, Not Saturday DO WE CHANGE THE VENUE OR THE LOCATION? Getting a booking for Saturday could be difficult, (but we may get lucky) I am also prepared to offer our house (near Tea Tree Plaza ish) as a location for a BBQ and drinks. Looking for ideas and feedback. or call me on 0413 648 750 Guy
  20. The VG30 I saw today was a BB unit, and when I put it up against a stock 33 GTSt turbo the fittings (oil and water) all looked the same. Looks like this is the budget upgrade for a 33
  21. thanks Guilty I am looking at a big VG30 today. If it has a steel rear wheel I'll grab it. Do you know if all of these came as ball bearing type, or were some bushes?
  22. Looking for advice from those WITH EXPERIENCE - no rumours please My std RB25 turbo looks like its shot. I will find out for sure next week, but it is very slow to come onto boost and we suspect its either broken the tips off of the impeller or the wast gate cap is leaking. My dilemma is that I wasn’t expecting to replace the turbo just yet so funds are tight. Mods on the car include split dump. 3 inch exhaust, Power FC, Shift kit on my Auto Trans, Front mount, Pod filter, Fuel pump and rising rate regulator I would prefer not to stick on a second hand Std turbo, so my choices seem to be a high Flow ($1900 from GCG), a second hand HKS2530 or 2535 (but I can't find any for sale right at the moment) or I have been offered a VG30 (cheapest option) Is the VG30 any good on the RB25, and what are the issues? - I have been told I will need to modify the water and oil lines (no real problems I believe if I can grab a friends flaring tool and some copper line) - I have been told the 90degree snout off of my std turbo will need to be bolted onto the VG30, but that it will bolt right on) - I have been told that the dump pipe will bolt straight on. Is the VG30 much laggier than std? What potential will it offer? Can boost exceed 14psi, or will it push more air at the same pressure than a Std. At the moment? I have 180rwkw, am I expecting too much if I hope to get 220 with a VG30.
  23. There is nothing wrong with the malpassi, I use one and have had no problems, ands a few guys I know use them on their SERIOUS rotory drag cars, and they have no problems.
  24. I have made a tentative booking (not going to get caught out like I did last time at the Old Lion) for 15 people at 6:30pm in the courtyard of the British (58 Finniss St North Adelaide) on Saturday the 18th. They would like us to confirm ASAP, but at this stage we are booked in.
