Yes I will get it all painted one colour now, as I'm not that keen on the 2 tone effect. my guess is however that I will have to pay extra to get the bottom gunmetal grey painted, but it is a good opportunity. P1E it would be a good time/reason to add a body kit but I’m a bit strapped for cash at the moment so I will probably have to wait and get that later.

Joel - thanks man. I havnt been to RPM for dyno work, only been to Tilbrooks and MorePower. I'll look into going to MEC, but I cant wait until the end of the month. I was considering going to Des Higgins in salisbury/parafield who paints Rolls Roice and other prestige cars (I have never heard of anyone speak poorly of his work) One benifit of shannons is that they allow me to pick the repair shop rather than go to the cheapest nasty shop they can find, so at least the repair job should be of reasonable quality. I'm not sure that I would be happy with any factory paint job, as I figure they are pained to a price rather than a quality. (I may be wrong, but measuring the thickness of paint seems to be a way of reducing the price rather than improving the quality.) I would be interested in the Shannons recommended list however as I guess (and I may be wrong) these repairers do a qualty job.

I'm beginning to think the car should only be taken out for cruises and shows, which means I would miss out on driving one of the best cars day to day. I like to look after my car and would hate to think its a trailer queen, but after this I think I might invest in a little festiva for day to day driving and save the skyline for the weekend.

Dont get too caught up in the hype of intercoolers unless you are going for ultimate performance. The reality is that they dont really give you much in the way of extra power (except by removing pressure drops) but they make the car much more reliable by avoiding the heat sink effects of the std intercooler. IMHO a Aust. made front mount is just as good as an expensive import and you will not see any real difference between the two. Just look for a good priced 600x300 ish intercooler (new or second hand) unless you are building a car where every little bit counts.

This morning I parked my car alongside the parklands in Nth Adelaide, as I have done many times, but when I went to get my car this afternoon (to drive home) some asshol* has gone around my car with a screwdriver or set of keys. I am F*ing furious, if I ever find out who I'll kill them Sorry I just have to vent my spleen here, I just don’t understand the mentality of these people. On the good side I am insured (with Shannon’s) so the damage can be repaired, but I guess I will be without my car for a few weeks. I just feel so violated. I don’t want to drive the car anymore now, somehow it feels dirty (if that makes any sense)

Where do I sighn up, I've found my home at last. Dean thats only 20% you, the other 80% can't make up its mind or needs time to get in tough with its feelings before making a decision :-P

Hey guys - did you know its an offence to own, purchase or offer for sale a radar detector in all states other than WA. If you search on the net you will find some good advive about the legalities of these devices and the restrictions placed on the police regarding their detection and removal. (well worth a read) I am not anti detectors, but be careful when purchasing/selling them, and know the legalities if you put one in your car (eg. the police have the righ to search your car if they suspect you have a detector, but they have limitations on what they can do to locate it)

ROFL What the??? I would like to know how the oil additive is changing your gear ratios? (Unless ROIL has somehow recut the gears in your box) I doubt even the marketing department would be brave enough to make a claim like that.

I can think of one positive side though - inpounded cars are eventually sold at public auctions, there could be some bargains to be had :-)

Your right, they seem to pick on imports just because they are imports, regardless of what you are doing. Deans car is a perfect example, its not very modded - (thats why its so slow :-)

The place to go is up at blackwood (blackwood automatics - i think?). They have experience with skyline box's. PS - you should be able to pick up GOOD a second hand box for a few hundred dollars, as the importers usually cant get rid of them. You will have to haggle to get the price down, but most importers would just be glad to see the box go out and provide space on the shelf.

There is a relationship between them, but are you saying that two cars with say 200rwkw will also have the same torque? - I dont think so :-) it also depends on the RPM that the kw are made at. check out the site preditor posted above : http://vettenet.org/torquehp.html it explains it quite well.

Its a power thing (for some) Like most jobs you will always get the dic* heads on their "aren't I better than you" power trips, and lets face it what other job gives you that much power, lets you carry a gun in public, can pay in excess of $40,000 upon graduation (at 18 or 19) and requires little more than a year 11 education. Most of these guys were NEVER going to be rocket scientists, and some wouldnt even qualify for the job of "chimpanze" to sit in the rocket.

Calvintys - your torque control only adjusts where the torque is directed ie. 100% to the rear wheels or a %rear and the rest front, it will not give you any more torque. blx - the normal mods you do to any engine will improve torque, its more about how its tuned to ensure you end up with a big flat torque curve rather than tuning for a high RWKW figure ant a narrow torque curve. Think of it like this - I am sure you've heard of cars with incredible KW figure that can't be driven daily because they only make there power at the top end (5500 - 7000rpm) and hence are cops to drive - these cars are tuned with a narrow torque curve because they are chassing high KW. However a track car will be tuned with a wide torque curve and although the KW figures may not be as impressive, it will go like the clappers. Hope this helps :-)

I am fairly sure its not illegal, just that front passenger windows are only allowed a slight tint (and most factory tinted glass meets this standard) and any additional tint will make them illegal. The front window from memmory cant be tinted except for the top section (ie where the BOYZ put there HOLDEN stiklas - coz they is fully sik.)

Remember that you can convert the HP of your engine into more torque by using a gear box. Its sole purpose is to provide a useful amount of touque at a specific rev range to overcome a lack of torque. Good example - try taking off in top gear, tour engine has the same amount of HP but lacks the torque down low when you need it to get you started. Its also why you cant accelerate as quick in overdrive because you reduce the amount of torque to achieve the higher gearing and hence higher top speed.
