  1. Good to see the old thread isnt dead.
  2. Sorry my bad, I ment the Prelude was a stocker, not your Integra. PS are you going on the cruise Sunday?
  3. Nice looking car Phorte I guess the Integra was a stocker, it was a bit cautious throuh anything twisty, but that at least made it easy to follow.
  4. Hi guys I ran into SIR33 on the way home today (not litttorally) and he told me he had posted details of a cruise for Sunday. Looks like the post didn’t stick or went to the wrong forum so here are the details. Not sure who originally organized this cruise but I am willing to field questions from those who have them. I can PM details to those interested. PS be careful to keep an eye out for bunnies carrying baskets of eggs, if we hit one of these my kids have threatened they will never speak to me again.
  5. Not too bad a cruise, but a few more maps would have helped - I go lost following people a few times but ended up catching up again. Cheeky - where did you go? saw you turn off onto Jetty Rd (but the shops wern't open then?)
  6. If you are going to compare them, compare apples with apples. 1 - the R33 preceeded the R34, so why would they be 10 years appart in wear and tear? - yes a series 1 is nearly 10 years old, but why not look for an end of production series II which will probably be only a year or 2 different from your R34. 2 - To compare a non turbo R33 to a turbo R34 ??? (whats with that) If you want a car just for its looks then its a syle choice (whatever you prefer, but the R34 is the bomb), but if you want it to drive in, then dont even think about a non turbo, (otherwise just get a toyota corolla and save the cash for your shrink :-) The build quality on these cars is excellent, and a 10 yr old skyline is comparable to a 4 year old falcodore so dont be put off in the same way you would if it was a domestic vehicle. hope this helps
  7. Looks like I might be able to get to this one. It would be good to catch up with a few of you guys again.
  8. HoeTrain, the reason CASA wouldn’t recommend it is because they are a bunch of spineless, ball'les beurocrats who will not accept responsibility for anything. They wouldn’t even tell you the time without receiving written conformation from another source (just incase they were wrong). In all honest CASA know next to nothing about mechanicals (or aviation for that matter) and are just a lot of mindless beurocrats that hide under the comment "its in the interest of safety" (translation = "I don’t know and am not prepared to make a decision") Sorry a bit of a rant, but when you have been involved in aviation (both flying and maintenance) a our family have, you have little respect for these pencil pushing dickless morons.
  9. gobiz - I cant remember exactly so perhaps he (or others who know) could correct me here. I believe he ended up with near 300rwkw after all modifications including - lots of head work, bump pipe and screemer pipe, rebuilt block (cant remember the specs) and his hybrid turbo. Anyone else know any more or can correct my figures??
  10. It plugged straight in and worked fine (absolutely no dramas) I have since had it dyno'd to better suit the car (no problems and a lot better response)
  11. Matty, is your turbo the same as Boostd's (Mat's). If I recall the specs on his were as follows: used an standard R33 Turbo; the exhaust housing of a VG30 BB, and a T04 compressor wheel. Vtrim Comp with groove in comp cover snout. Exhaust bored out to flange. machined at Russel Engineering. If not, bo you have any info on how your turbo compared with Mats
  12. My auto works well with the PFC installed. Not sure if its because its a series 1 r33, as I have heard others have heard of others who have had problems. PS mine isnt the only PFC equiped auto.
  13. I'm interested in a bar fridge, how much is he after? PM me or phone me on 0413 648 750
  14. The hybrid turbo built by Matt and others cost around $400 I thought (mainly for machining - use an standard R33 Turbo; the exhaust housing of a VG30BB turbo, and a T04 compressor wheel). This is a budget upgrade as good or better than some of the $2000 hyflow options.
  15. Gobiz - I am in a simmilar position to you and am looking to do the same modification. I had already collected the specs and contact details. It may be worth asking Tim if he i interested in building up 2 of these. Ill be in for one.
  16. With those mods a new fuel pump should do the trick, and give you confidence. The rising rate reg isnt really needed, and wont help if your fuel pump isny up to scratch.
  17. Yes the car was always a GTS-25t, but I have seen other cars that look almost identical that are GTS-25's I think its the same as the 2 door GTS-25's - you need to look for 4 stud wheels, and a blue GTS badge to indicate its not a turbo. ( and a lack of power :-P ) PS - No such thing as a stupid question if you honestly dont know the answer. I have been guilty of asking questions (when I first started out in skylines that ) that I think back on now and think "What a n00b for asking that"
  18. I only have this one (not that good an angle) PS - not all 4 door skylines have the plastic bit between the taillights, other look more like a std. skyline
  19. will the boot off of a 4 door fit? the 4 door boots give a flat finish, and look simmilar to those on the R34, you may be able to attach R34 spoilers aswell.
  20. I am an : IT Network Manager; Infastructure Deployment; Web Design; T&D Conviener; Tech Support; Help Desk; (and computer geek) Hey when I write it down like this it almost sounds impressive, isnt reallity a downer. reminds me of the saying "there is no such thing as gravity, the earth really 73 75 78" , or for the web guys it "s u x" :-)
  21. I am with shannons I was told they only ensure enthusiasts, and usually try and avoide younger drivers. (which make up for young and cool not insurig me as I was too old :-( )
  22. I think you missed the point B-man Yes the fuel reg sits on the fuel return line and in effect blocks it (to a varying amount) in order to maintain the pressure. If it is working properly then a new pump (with more pressure) should result in the reg opening up (allowing more fuel through) so as to maintain the fuel pressure setting. (it wouldn’t matter if your pump could manage 500psi, the reg will maintain its standard setting (14psi I think)) The only way to change the pressure in the fuel line is to modify or change the fuel regulator. (or push through so much fuel and at such a high pressures that the regulator cant cope) The benefit you may notice with a new pump is that as the car comes on boost -(and the regulator increases the pressure as the fuel consumption also increases) - your new pump can maintain the volume of fuel at the required pressure when your old pump was running out of puff. Hence a better top end, and probably saving you an engine rebuild from leaning out at the top ehd. There is nothing wrong with running an aftermarket fuel reg (your car already has a rising rate reg at the moment, but its not adjustable) and it is not necessarily a band-aid solution. (although it can be if you have to run ridiculously high pressure to supply the fuel required). Many big budget drag cars use them (I have seen malpassi regs many times), and you should be able to get a malpassi (high flow rising rate regulator - be careful they make one that looks identical but isnt ment for skylines and the like) for about $200 or a little less
  23. Quote GT-spec 15 - "got massively airborne off a grassy hill" Grassy hill = grassy knoll This sounds like another JFK/CIA coverup I wonder if it was Lee Harvey Oswald that ran out of the car and escaped ??
  24. This guy obviously needed to spend more money on his tyres, as getting airborn (2nd story) must be a worst case of poor traction. anyone got a set of tyres they can lend him? either that or the rear wing he installed was WAY TOO BIG.
