I instlled a malpassi rising rate reg on my skyline as well as the fuel pump. I guess it may not be needed for mild upgrades but it adds a little extra room to increase fuel or compensate for small injectors.

HKS EVC4 Boost Controller

do you have any pictures? -
I purchased some clips and plugs from my local nissan dealer. Take in an example and see what they can do to find a match. (chances are they used the same clips for a number of years in all nissans)

Brand Name exhausts + 4 door
4door_Sleeper replied to Spook's_Skyline's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
the floor pan is the same for a 4 or 2 door so it should fit you will find that 95% of parts for a 2 door will fit the 4 door (the other 5% is fairly obvious - with the exception of the rear strut brace) -
At the end of the day buy what YOU are happy with, and if its a SKYLINE you shouldnt be dissapointed. I dont mind a manual either but I think autos are underrated. TOP drag cars (not the slow 8-9 sec ones) use auto boxes that have been heavilly modified. For track use a 6 speed manual is probably the way to go. Dont underestimate a Torque converter as it gives the car more torque down low, which is an area that skylines (most turbo motors) are week, and hence will improve off the line performance.

Mr GTS4 - how much experience do you have with skyline autos? - they are not the same as the ones on your mums laser. What do you mean "they dont change gears propperly"? - an auto will change consistently every time, at the correct point on the torque curve, and you dont have the problem most manual drivers have of over revving it and missing the optimum shift point. What do you mean "unless you get a big stall (converter)" - yes this will help (but isnt essential), but with a manual you will have to get a new heavy duty clutch. my guess is that you have been beeten off the line too many times by autos and have a grudge.

If you want it to go quick you will need to fator in a few performance mods as well. The usual list includes - exhaust ($1100ish) air pod and petition ($200) bleed valve to increase the boost ($150 fitted) aftermarket computer - lost of options here ($500 - $1500) dyno time to tune this all ($400) these prices are a rough guide - you can buy bits cheaper second hand and can save money fitting some bits yourself. the next steps - if the turbo bug bites is a front mount intercooler -($1000 to $1600) and an upgraded turbo ($500 - $3000) pluss dyno yuning time. ontop of this you could spend money on suspension and body kits. hope this helps.

There are several auto trans specialists who have done this type of modification. They modify the trans to increase line pressures, and hence produce sharper (tighter) shifts. What mods has the car got now?
-
A standard auto will be a bit slower than a manual, but spend a few bucks on an upgrade($300ish) and it will be quicker - still cheaper than a 2 plate clutch. ($600-$3000) and lasts heaps longer.
-
Why the urge to get a manual? Turbos and autos go together like eggs and ham think about it - no lagg from a closed throttle during gear changes; quicker gear changes and a torque converter to improve the bottom end (a turbo engines worst end)

I might catch the cruise, but will certainly be dropping by at ingle farm for the pre cruise chit chat.

Go the 4 door I found that insurance is cheaper they are not as common dont draw as much unwanted attention from the boys in blue. more fun when you pull up at the lights as others dont always recognise it as a skyline - untill they see my tail lights :-) I dont mind an auto, (though there are manuals out there or you could convert one) as IMHO a turbo and auto combination is quicker for mild street level upgrades.

Where do we sighn up? - thats a $10,000 deposit and $1750 per month (about the same as some insurance premiums) to own it outright (assuming a mid 2007 delivery). Or $10,000 deposit and $56.70 per day. A small price to pay for a new 2007 GTR I guess it would be slow over the quarter mile though, 8 gear changes would cost me 5 seconds in changes alown :-P

I am going to the 4 6 rot this weekend. (Just as a spectator) Has anyone got any more info on the exact time(s) as I thought it was a Sat and Sun thing. If the weather is like tonight it might not be too bad as a cool breez came through around 6pm and made things a lot better for boosting. Is anyone thinking about a cruise through the city (to pick up poeple/cars) and then up to AIR?

More flow from the stock cooler
4door_Sleeper replied to QuickR33Melb's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Why not plumb oil through it and use it as an oil cooler, then mount a nice big front mount and plumb it up to the turbo and inlet manifold. Alternatively fill the std intercooler with cement and stich a piece of chain into in before it sets (should make a great boat anchor) -
Stock BOV Plumback removal
4door_Sleeper replied to DezertEagle's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I found that a coke bottle top (600ml) will fit inside the hose you are trying to block off, and you can use the hose clamp to keep it in place. I have tried this (Once) and it worked OK, a very loud BOV sound but it spluttered and cut out too often when I stopped (so i returned it back to stock) PS Would the computer learn how to run with the blocked off pipe?? (given a bit of time) -
Krone - 99% of the 4 door and 2 door parts are identical. The onyl real difference is the cosmetics to fit in the extra set of doors, and the boot and tail light section. More specifically to your question, YES the 2 door and 4 door ECU's are the same
-
I have a PFC on my auto R33, and it works fine. however I have also heard from others (2nd hand) that they tried it and the auto didnt work properly and they had to change back to the factoty ecu. I'm not sure if mine works because it is a series 1, and I have so far been unable to determine why mine (and some others) work, and yet other people complain that it didnt work.

Inorder to improve those gear shift time why not do a trans conversion and stick an AUTO in it also gives you a free hand to wave at the crowd as you go down the track

a $10 000 paint job will probably not involve the removel of all panels from the car, the complete removal of ALL paint, and the better preperation. In the end the paint job is only as good as the surface its sprayed onto. If the old paint starts to lift/craze etc underneith your new paint job it will also ruin the surface on the new paint. (Quite often this will not show through for a year or 2). Your car can look very good with a $4000 paint job and may win some country Show and Shine awards, but it won't cut it when you compete against the big guys (and girls) an an Autosalon etc. It depends on what you want for your car. If you are going to show it at the big shows and u want a chance of winning you will have to pay more, but if you are happy with a car that will turn heads and look great you may be able to spend a lot less. (Perhaps you could compair it with purchasing an exhaust, you can choose from a full titanium system, down to a workshop made 3 inch system - all of them may be good, but one is a lot better than others (for some applications) and the prices will vary accordingly.)
-
Des Higgins, and another guy a few shops down thr road from him, both are in the industrial estate opposite Parafield Airport (Kings Rd Enterance). The cost will be around $10,000 and will take a few months to complete, but you will have a paint job that is potentially as good as any of the best in the car shows. There are many cheaper options, but a REALLY good job will reqire the car to be completely stripped of all paint, clean and prep the metal and then start straightening panels and applying finishing paint. Good quality paint also costs more than some of the cheaper options, but is much harder and gives depth and gloss off of the gun, and requires less pollishing (cutting) as it copes better with light wear and tear.

I heard on the side today that Regency Park is now "Empire Central" It seems that everyone (well many of them) have been playing the promotions game, i.e. the head honcho went from a level 5 to a level 6 (or something similar) and its had a flow on effect all the way through. I heard this from a guy who worked on the truck inspections/weighbridges, and who used to be friendly with a few people at regency. He said the place has gone to the dogs as they are all getting paid more for doing less, and the guys on the floor doing inspections have no idea what they are on about, so they just follow what’s written in the book. (like that’s a new revelation) – Apparently one of the guys who really knew his stuff died (a year or so ago) on his way out to a remote inspection (heart attack in a hotel bed) and he was the one who kept the others in line, and accepted “reasonable/safe” modifications. Since then the place has been run by guys with NFI. Anyway I just thought it interesting that people on the inside also have concerns about what’s going on down there.
