  1. Trouble is though if you make a blanket rule of "don’t chase them" it sends out a message of - "do what you like, if you are caught just drive fast and the cops wont chase you" It’s a bit like the teachers at school who always gave you a second/third/fourth chance. The good kids respected that but the idiots just abused the privilege. I think the police have to be trained to use their discretion of when / where to chase and when it is just not worth it. Is it any different than when we fang it with a mate on an empty road at night? (We know we wouldn’t be doing it if it was rush hour). I follow 9krpms sentiments. All the best wishes to the victim and family members Car thieves/vandalism should attract the death penalty. (especially if it’s mine)
  2. If the standard trans isnt strong enough I believe a Nissan Patrol box can be installed with very few mods. The benifit I believe is a thicker input shaft and splines. A good place for information about this is SA Race Transmissions and Differentials at Modbury North (SA).
  3. Miss*33 and RedlinrGTR, its predominantly Subaru WRXs and Nissan Skylines because the others cant keep up. Lets face it only an idiot would line up their HK Monaro against a GTR. (ulless they had spent a sh**load on the monaro to make it go)
  4. I purchased my PFC off of the NZ skyline forum (prior to this forum starting up i think) I just plugged it in and it worked straight away. (I had it tuned a few months later) I have heard others say that the PFC will not work on autos but mine has given no problem. Someone did suggest that this could be because it is a series I R33.
  5. I currently have an R33 series 1 auto with the PFC in it. (and have had no problems). Later this week I am getting a modified auto installed (tighter shifting and higher stall torque converter). I will post next weekend an let you know how it went.
  6. Art these going to fit onto a standard fuel rail on a RB25DET? if so I am interested in them at $275
  7. Can someone PM me the details aswell. I am not 100% sure I can make it but I wont have access to a PC later if I change my mind. PS is this the replacement for Sundays cruse?
  8. My dyno looked very similar to tyours unti I installed a PFC - then what a difference. Before i could feel it drop off under acceleration, but now it pulls strong all the way. I think this dip is programmed into the original ECU to help it meet emission standards. I would suggest installing a PFC,or at the least a S-AFC. I am not disapointed in the PFC and the potential to go further in the future is always there, whilst the S-AFC is a good fix but if you want to continue further eventially you are gonig to have to change the ECU anyway.
  9. Im in for a Sunday arvo.
  10. Can you get these intercoolers? on the 21st you said it would be 2 weeks on the 27th you said 3 weeks ??? (what the?) Just bite the bullet and ask for poeple to confirm an order. This forum started over a month ago, if they havn't commited by now they are never going to.
  11. Performance car + lead foot +skyine = Poor fuel ecconomy but lots of fun. If you want ecconomy why not get a push bike? Compared to the cost of tyres, front mounts, larger turbos, more tyres, the "was that a skyline?" factor, another set of tyres, why worry about the cost of petrol? Its a bit like complaining about the cost of car pollish, -you just GOT TO use it
  12. A few pictures would be good. I am looking at installing RX7 injectors on my R33, but am unsure on what to do with the fuel rail. What exactly did you do to the RB20 rail to modify it, and how easy was it?
  13. I'm looking to purchase NOW, are they available yet or will I go elsewhere?
  14. I'm looking to purchase NOW, are they available yet or will I go elsewhere?
  15. Put me down for one - chrome pipes, blue silicon, and lots of PSI. PM me for detalis when you have a date confirmed.
  16. I am very interested as I was just about to buy a Trust intercooler kit. This is $700 cheaper, so I could get a fuel pump too and have some real fun (after tuning thr PFC). Just wondering though how people find these intercoolers compared to the Trust/Blitx coolers? I am not worried if they are a little worse as they should still cope with a 250rwkw motor, but was interested in a comparison (versus sales pitch)
  17. If you want to get Bridgestone So3s in Adelaide, give the guys at Bridgestone (city store) a call. They offfer great discount to SDU, SVD club members. I was quoted about $200 (just under I think)each for 235s
  18. Sorry guys I wont be able to go on Friday, but I did see the movie on Wednesday night. Enjoyed it, but it wont win any awards for its script (but who cares) There is a nice change to the plot in this one. If you didnt see the first movie the plot went: fast cars, racing, fast cars Vin Diesel, fast cars racing, Vin Diesel. This movie has a very differnen plot: fast cars, racing, fast cars girls, fast cars racing, girls. Still dont understand why they would play with Mitsubishi's when they started off with a hot R34? but then I didnt understand why they used Civics in the first movie. Enjoy.
  19. Sydneykid, DMT (Dept. Motor Transport) in SA are not overly concerned with the delay to process a vehicle. Over the X-mass months delays of 2-3 months are not uncommon. The understanding between the police and DMT is that if you have a mod done to your car (ie a new exhaust) it is up to YOU to prove it meets the criteria. The only reason they have not been asking for emissions tests are because they dont have anywhere in the state that is certified to perform the test. I was told (by DMT) that they consider any engine mod (exhaust, large turbo, Nos, intercooler) may have an effect on the emmisions of the motor, and it would be up to the owner to show a certificate of compliance otherwise its off to Regency Park (Defect central) to have them test it and confirm compliance. Lowering is OK only if the height from the center of the rim to the edge of the gard (top of the curve - you know what i mean) is not less than standard height from the factory. (So in effect lowering a car is ok if you can keep this measurement ie sounds impossible) As for NOS being ilegal, they tell me having it on the car is only a concern because it would effect your emission figures (provided it is hooked up and vented to atmosphere if it were to leak). In SA they don't have a problem with you having a full NOS cylinder rolling around in the boot (I believe that in Vic and NSW they can book you for this even if the kit is not connected) or if it is connected if you could prove the car meets the required ADR's. and last time I looked there was no specific ADR that mentions NOS, though there are plenty about emission standards.
  20. Have been following this thread with interest. I too am considering NOS for my skyline, and have done a bit of research. For my 2c NOS is an inert gas and just reduces the intake temp - means you missed the point. NOS is an oxygen rich gas and hence burns better than air = bigger explosion = more power (air is only 20% oxygen from memory, NOS is about 60%). Yes it will reduce the intake temp which is an added bonus. Noone seems to have considered using NOS to cool the intercooler - a shot of NOS on the cooler will give a similar effect to putting it in the fridge and further improve its efficiency. In a wet NOS setup (the only true way to have large HP hits) the NOS and fuel enter the plenum in the correct ratio so you don't need larger injectors etc, but you may need a larger fuel pump to provide the quantity of fuel required. As for the LEGAL issue - nearly all mods that we do (to 90's - 00's cars) make the car illegal. Lower the car = illegal, change exhaust or turbo = probably illegal. (DMT in SA [and i believe other states too] are about to install/upgrade exhaust testing equipment to ensure emissions meet the ADR specs. Whilst it isn't impossible to modify a car and meet the specs, how many of us go to this trouble. (its not the sort of thing any dyno can test as it is more involved than setting your mixture level). We are part of a sport, let people do there own thing. You might not like NOS (ok no problem) but that shouldnt be a reason to can others. Personall I never understood why anyone would want to hot up a Gemmi (grandmothers cars if you ask me) but to each their own. Lets here more on what can be done and less of the knocking.
  21. Im interested
  22. If you have 3/4 of a tank of flat petrol why not pep it up with an octain booster? At $10-$15 sit better than running the risk of detonation. PS anyone have access to comercial quantities of Toluene? As I uderstand its the key ingredient to boost the octain level and quite cheep to buy in bulk.
  23. An Auto is the way to go Think about the developments in motor sports today, all of the big ($$) teams are using auto boxes with manual selection through paddles/buttons on the wheel. Whilst I would agree that a stock R33 auto isnt a quick shifting beast, with a little work it has great potential. The idea that you can hold gears longer in a manual is crap. I can select a gear and keep it there until the Porer FC's rev limiter cuts in (not a nice feeling), but more importantly you can set the auto to shift at the correct rev point. (no more going over the top of your power curve, and costing you time) every time without you having to watch the tacho (which moves too bloody fast anyway :-P ) As mentioned above boost comes on when needed via the correct torque converter. The other advantage is that the throtle is held open for the length of the run (no need for the blow off valve to work) and hence no spool down on the turbo. (ie boost from foot down to foot off) As to the idea or poor durability my R33 puts out 180 RWKW and has given no problems. (stock auto) My new auto (sharper shifts, higher stall converter) was in a car that was constantly given stick and put out over 230 RWKW. My advice is dont listen to those who have not played with auto equiped skylines. (they probably dont eat quiche just because they were told once that REAL MEN dont eat it)
  24. I would recomend Tilbrooks as a good place to go. Its not going to be cheap to get a good service. You are probably looking for new filters, plugs (platinum $150 ish) and good oil. When I had my first service it also included a few modifications (Power FC, Bleed valve, dyno tune and reporgramming the FC) and cost close to $1000. [The results were worth it though]
