  1. what sux for a 33 is they use the 3/4 rule for calculating at what rev range to test you at. so for 33's they test at 5500ish. even the tester said it was a shame.
  2. yep...i was told to drive in the cente of the road...ie half on the opposite lane to get a better indication of wonky wheels.
  3. unless you get a piece of paper saying its under then they can pretty much assume anything. if it is under then i see no reason for you not to contest it if that is the only reason for the fine.
  4. nothing that made me go "WOW, best money ever spent". a slightly better feel in acceleration, but like I said, its like taking an energy drink and believing you have heaps more energy after drinking it. You dont really know if its doing anything unless you get Mythbusters onto it.
  5. i got one just cause I think it looks good. i just trick my mind and my wallet into thinking it improves performance. mines just raw, no attention grabbing anodising.
  6. ha .....definitly quote of the year
  7. the car wont let you go over 2000rpm if you unplug the AFM. give it a clean with contact cleaner and see how you go.
  8. lol....your dodgy guy should be doing it for a slab of beer. Id be paranoid letting dodgy bro's pick my car, he would have more intimate knowledge of the car....and even if he couldnt pick it he'd probably make a good effort at scratching the fffout of something, shruging his shoulders and then walk off..ha. i guess if the dodgy guy is your mate than thats ok then. as with everyone else you might as well go RACV if your gonna fork out $150
  9. ha...street cred. its worth more than oil now days.
  10. ha 78cents.....i remember cracking it when it hit 65cents. ahh...memories of an unemployed kid who just got his license.. "meemmoriiiieeees.....like the colours of the wind...."
  11. a twin clutch would probably be reason for the 3000 launch. I can get off with as low as 1000rpms. literally engage and go pretty much. Have never needed to take it over 1200-1300 to get off the line unless im on a slope. That was the first thing I noticed after a couple days driving though it did take a while to get used to. The first couple days it was rough as guts breaking in the new clutch. You might say because the cushion button clutch grabs better and theres less mass in the flywheel than before is the reason why my car feels like theres less effort needed to get it off the line. chances are I dont know what Im talking about...haha.
  12. sometimes things are too good to be true aye. did you give the thing for your mech to fit or did he suggest it? I know when my afm is unplugged the car would start once but after that it won't turn over no matter how many times. they say it should be able to turn over but idle low like paul said but for mine it wont turn over at all. Maybe you killed your afm?
  13. brownies?.....I should start rocking up to these S.E meets. I had this really really bad pain when i was walking home from uni, couldnt even walk. lasted a good hr then went away. I always wondered if it was my appendix that went but usually you croak it when it does correct? Is it normal for everyone to get their appendix removed? cause Im ticking on in age and I think its due some time or later...ha. get well, I think more brownies are needed for the next meet as everyones on to it now.
  14. ive got the exedy flywheel and I'm quite happy with it. Yes it is noisier down at super low revs, its tricky in the car park and yes it does take a while to get used to, whether its the combination of both the cushion button clutch and flywheel. Strangely I find that it takes less revs to get going as once its engaged it just wants to go. Accel is alot smoother but at the same time if you'r not used to it it can become quite rough. I dont have any issues with gear change, that may be due to the short shifter and my driving style which is cruzy. I don't flog the car and smash gears. Rev matching is alot easier. Along with a slight tune it was a completely diff car to drive. If your really concerned about a smooth comfy ride then stick with the stocker, I personally think its a good mod, just dont go super light as its uncessesary, thats why I got myself the exedy one instead of a super light one. There's no real major draw backs to make me want to go back to stock.
  15. are these the same guys that do those road skating out the car doors and those top speed spins? its'll all fun and games till someone loses an eye
  16. i paid $250 + new bolts n stuff.
  17. mmm...interesting taste like burning
  18. should visit jaycar or the like. hook something up to the door light so when they open it you will know. that or tie a string from your door handle to your little toe..ha
  19. someone gouged my front bumper a while back in the parking lot, peeled my license plate back too like a sardine can. I knocked it back with filler and gave it to my mates dad who works at a place that paints those factory HSV bodykits. I just hope the other car came off second best. you could probably get away with "as above" matching the paint and then professionally knocking it back and finishing it off with a good buff.
  20. would have been the icing on the cake if the dyno ripped his pants off.......oohh papa!!
  21. i get people hug my ass off at the lights. they think cause its a line I will do quarter mile take offs off the light so they can shoot infront of traffic along side me. alot of the times they've been dissapointed...ha.
  22. they have differnt plugs as in different number of pins if im not mistaken. thats where my knowledge ends
  23. ha...well in that case if its making a whirring hissing sound and not a sqeaky (rusty gate) sound then its probably the thrust bearing. quite common
  24. compliancing the belts and fasteners.
  25. im confused...not depressed means its not not pressed which means its pressed then? and it goes away when its not pressed? if its a whirring sound its probably the thrust bearing, but that goes away when the clutch is pressed (not depressed?) ha....
