  1. I have the R33 Auto, and it was wanting to stall @ junctions and slowing down. For some reason I checked the auto transmission fluid and it took 2 litres to get it to the right hot level. Now, no stalling and perfect rapid gearchanges. Worth bearing in mind for all the auto owners. Dave
  2. Thanks Sarpi, I had tried that but was worried that I might do some damage, slipping clutch or something like that. Thanks again.
  3. Does anyone know how to top up the automatic transmission fluid on a R33? I know it's a stupid thing to be asking, but I can't find a refill point anywhere near the dipstick. Also I recently did the control solenoid bypass/ grounding trick to boost the low rev turbo boost, and I noticed that the Auto mode control switch was flashing for about 8 seconds when the ignition was first switched on. I read in the manual that this was an error message, and was wondering if this may be caused by the solenoid rewiring. I reset the wiring to the original set-up, but it is still flashing. If you can help me with these problems it would be much appreciated. Thanks
  4. Thanks for the reassurance. Now I'll use the extra low rev boost without worrying about doing any damage.
  5. I recently had the car serviced (R33 GTS25t ), and one of the problems was the standard dashboard turbo dial was not working properly, it seemed stuck @ about -3 with the engine off or running, and hardly moved above zero. We decided to put in an extra meter which is now connected just before the inlet manifold. It is a dial that has (Kilo Pascalsx100) as as the units, ranging from -1 to +1.5. I,ve just rewired the earth of the boost control solenoid which has given alot of extra boost and am a bit concerned that it may be producing too much boost. What I dont understand is that the new gauge shows 0 when the ignition is on, going down to about minus 0.5 when the engine is ticking over, and up to about +0.6 when I give it some stick. What I want to know is this: 1) Should it be @ -0.5 on tickover or have I got an air leak 2) Is the total boost value -0.5 to +0.6 ( 1.1 total ) or just the +0.6 I've figured out that 1 p.s.i = 6895 pascall so I guess I'm doing either: 1.1x100x1000/ 6895 = 15.95 p.s.i ( No way jose! ) 0.6x100x1000/6895 = 8.7p.s.i I pretty sure that a standard turbo won't get up to 16 p.s.i so I suppose it just worries me that the gauge is on a negative figure on tickover. Sorry this is so long winded but if anyone can shed some light on this it would help me alot. Thanks!
  6. Did this today on an R33 gts25 auto, excellent results. Did the polarity test as suggested by others, the black wire was the earth. Don't know exactly what the increase is but it feels really fast now. I'll take it easy for a few days to get used to it, but I figure the engine + gaskets should hold. I'll let you know how it goes!
  7. Thanks, by the way, that girl has got some nice moves!
  8. Hello all, I keep hearing about resetting the ecu on the skyline. I've recently put in a new engine and would like to know where the ecu is, and if it's a tricky job to reset it. Any comments or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks. ps, it's the sedan auto, 1994.
  9. Nice discussion, I've been trying to work it all out for days over here in the U.K. I had a replacement engine put in, and the dashboard turbo meter was stuck on -3 so I thought there was something wrong with the way the solenoid was piped in. I,m gonna try to bypass the solenoid or mess with the voltage ( will it be the black or white I earth! I'll have to wait and see.) If any one could explain why a boost gauge running from just before the intake manifold is also showing a negative on tickover, it would be helpfull. When I put my foot down, the gauge increases to a positve, but I feel that it should start from zero. Thanks, enjoy the sun. ( Dave Connor )
