Lost And Thinking About Giving Up
V-Spec replied to drewecrome's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
just wait and dont rush it. the one you want will eventually come up be patient decent stockish 33 gtr is around 20 all 33s had the better crank in the motor and the s3 r33 had better sincros in the gearbox the attessa got better with the 33s as well unless its a v-spec 32 + less age and lower ks - the more servicing and mods you can do yourself the better. most of them come with pods and exhaust, do the turbos yourself, boost computer, injectors and the rest yourself. doesnt matter what anyone tells you, you never know what has been serviced -

thanks for explaining that if the clamping pressure has been changed, does that mean the diaphram springs on the cover have been changed? or does it have to do with something else? will the diaphram springs always be in the same possition? does this mean that there was no need for any different size carrier and bearing? sorry about my clutch noobness, at least im learning

Hello, My cars been at a workshop for 1 month and 1.5 months on seperate occasions with a clutch problem. Started life as an os giken R3C clutch, it was slipping so i decided to rebuild it to a twin plate. The workshop had trouble fitting it but eventually got it. It was sloppy from the start but wore in, constaintly made grinding noises and eventually ended up being hard to select gears and then creeping and grinding. Box was dropped again, clutch sent back, clutch rebuilder advised clutch was slipping on the back plate from contaminate. problem caused by gearbox seal leaking or thrust bearing always enguaged because incorrect size of bearing or bearing carrier. Workshop says gearbox rear seal has been changed and is not leaking. so it must be the bearing or carrier. They have been in contact with the builder and are unable to properly measure it all using his instructions by phone. My idea was to find out the specs of the standard R3C clutch, thrust bearing and carrier sizes, subtract the difference to get the correct size of bearing and bearing carrier. i have been in contact with os giken and have some specs for R3C push type pressure plate size 12.1mm Carrier size 26mm (dont know if this is for just the sleeve, or sleeve and bearing??) Bearing size ?? standard nissan, part number 30502-14601 My rebuilt clutch does have a higher clamping rate. so i thought the springs on the pressure plate might be different so i asked for that to be measured. I am yet to have the custom clutch measured, just looking for advice on if im measuring the correct items in order to fit it properly once and for all. If anyone knows the size of the thrust bearing 30502-14601 it would be a help. Would i need any other different parts like a different fork or pivot ball? If anyone have any advice it would be greatly appreciated. im not a mechanic, sorry if the terminology is incorrect, just trying to help grease the wheels so i can get my car back quicker. I have attached all the info sent to be by os giken. Rich 090714_3rd_Page_of_Clutch_Installation_Manual.pdf Page_6_Clutch_Installation_Manual_Eng_0807.pdf

i have momo tuning black center just with a button, looks almost like its came like that highway patrol talk about my seat rails being engineered before scrutinizing the wheel, this has happened twice

I dont believe this is true, after pulling off various r32 steering wheels, gts and gtr the sensor is right there behing the wheel, some boss kits use a plastic plate with 2 slots behind the metal peice, some use a metal peice with 2 slots to go over the sensor to move it hicas light come on when it detects a fault, code can be read from computer in the boot if its in the same position for a long time AND you have the limiter removed since the same wire cut is also used for hicas, it throws an error i dont know about the going in circles thing, does sound plausable

Theres a tool you can get that makes it very easy i think its called a thread puller or stud puller, can get it from repco, never know when it will come in handy
-
i think its dependent on the gearbox if its a rb25 box the rb30 started wont fit, i think that only fits rb20 box im not 100% sure on any of this though

these go for about 1300 ive seen -7 for 1700 the nismo turbos have 270deg thrust hence sleeve barings they are rated at like 600hp because of their larger compression specs downside - old in age and old in technology
