    Jdm'fest 2009

Pretty much !! I'm a little scared of having my car damaged on their dyno by their operators .....

    Jdm'fest 2009

I might come down for a look but there's no way in the world I will ever put my car on this dyno ever again. I had a bad experience there the one and only time I was there and that's enough for me. I've forked out too much cash on my car to have it harmed on a dyno. I'm not sure if there are any other Supra's attending though, I'm just down the road so I'll pop down to check out all the cars. Cheers Ross

  4. This is a great idea mate. I'm flattered, but embarrassed that you are making my car an example John, the poor old girl has got some battle scars and is need of a freshen up, but this won't happen until late next year. Then again we do have another Supra that has been worked on for a number of months now that would make mine look like a Celica........
  5. That plus, I need time to obtain sponsors for the event to reduce the cost as there were too many people saying it was too expensive. Let's put it this way, when this event kicks off again next year, it will be cheaper, but it will also have a completely different format.
  6. Guys/Gals I've decided to postpone this event until next year. I'm well over my head and luckily I have had some members offer to assist me with this event but there is too much involved to have something like this go ahead this year. A new thread with an expected or firmer date will be posted sometime in the near future. Thanks to everyone that provided input, it has been very useful and are being considered for when this event takes off next year. Thanks again Ross

  8. Nope, they're expecting 1 run in the 10s and then getting kicked off. These are guys I'm trying to get to sponsor the event and it just so happens that they have Supra's as well. They haven't pu the cars on the strip for a while and maybe they might not do it in 1 run but it shouldn't take them too long.
  9. If they're willing to come out then there's a spot for them. We have a couple of owners with pretty high HP that are very keen on coming along and they only expect one run............
  10. There's a lot of talk re: the NSW Supra owner's and how there is a lack of interest. Don't forget that the ACT Skyline owners are also showing very little interest in this event as well. If someone says that there aren't many Skyline's in the ACT then how many Supra's do you think are down here?? :-p
  11. Any Skyline and/or Supra are welcome providing they comply with the rules of WSID/ANDRA.
  12. I really need to see if we can achieve the numbers first before I lock in a date. I need 20 skylines and 20 Supra's at this stage and from what I can see we're around 10 down on each model if I try to keep it to ACT & NSW owners. I will have a definite answer for everyone in around 2 weeks, say the 2nd week in September.
  13. 1. This event is restricted to Supra's and Skyline's only, sorry no exceptions!!
  14. Hi guys, Just a quick update for you. So far from what I can see is that from the NSW Skyline owners, there are 9 interested people pending date. In the ACT we have 1 (John) and 2 that are not happy about the price......... Looks like this event might be NSW Skyline's v ACT Supra's as I'm having the same problems with the NSW Supra Owner's....... Guys/gals, I've done the hard work so far, all you need to do is say you're in or out.......
  15. At this stage I'm going to have keep it to Skyline's and Supra's only, but I will be reassing this in about two weeks if I can't achieve the 40 car limit. I have a lot of interest with Toyota owners that have dropped in a 2JZ GTE into their car's and I'm thinking of maybe opening it up to hybrids. I'll have a definite answer in a round two weeks. Thank you to everyone that have shown some interest to date. This Skyline group could consist of NSW owners at this stage as a lot of the ACT Skyline owners are umming and urring along with the NSW Supra owners....... Cheers Ross
  16. The quote comes directly from WSID, it's a copy and paste from the correspondance I've been having with him over email. I don't know any of the rules to make things up.
  17. All WSID rules apply to this event. WSID is an ANDRA-sanctioned venue. All private days at WSID must run under ANDRA sanction and therefore all rules and regulations must apply. A car running 10.99-seconds and quicker must have a current ANDRA tech inspection, full cage, driver must wear full driving suit, have arm restraints or window net and hold a current ANDRA Unlimited Drag Licence. Any vehicle running quicker than 12.00-seconds must hold, at least, an ANDRA Super Street Licence. http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=46190
  18. I've just had a brief chat with HPI and they are very interested in covering this event.

  20. Hi all On behalf of the ACT Supra Club I am trying to gauge who might be interested in coming to a private track day at Western Sydney International Dragway (WSID) for a Supra v Skyline event held by the ACT Supra Club. We will try and have this event sometime this year (at the worst, early next year) with the prospect of running it as an Annual Event. At a minimum we will require at least 40 cars to keep the cost down to $200 per entrant. We are trying to keep this to 20 cars of each model. A deposit will be required to reserve your spot for the event within 8 weeks of the event start date. The full amount is required by no later than 4 weeks of the event start date and is non refundable. If you are unable to attend the event after you have paid the full amount then you will have to find a replacement car of the same model car as your own. What I would like to get from you all is if there is a minimum of 20 Skyline’s here that may be interested in participating in this event. It would be great if we could get 10 from NSW and 10 from the ACT. As stated earlier, this is a private track day and it is limited to the following access for drivers, crew and spectators: 1 driver will be allowed two crew members and 3 guests/spectators. Basically, each driver can have no more that 5 people excluding themselves, therefore limiting the day to a possible 240 people. In line with the mandatory rules of WSID, some of the other rules we have been thinking of are: 1. This event is restricted to Supra's and Skyline's only, sorry no exceptions!! 2. All cars must be street registered. 3. All cars are limited to no more than semi-slick tyres. If there is a car that does not comply with any of the above additional rules but intends on joining us for the day then this car will be excluded from all prizes. Depending on sponsor availability, there will be prizes available. I understand that the cost may be a little on the expensive side but I am in the process of obtaining sponsors to assist in reducing the cost, but at this stage if you're interested, please post your interest here. Some additional details of the proposed day are: When: Sunday Date to be finalised (available for this year are, November 16 & December 21) Where: Western Sydney International Dragway Start time: 8:00 am to 10:00 am for scrutineering Finish time: 4:00 pm for drivers briefing Cheers Ross
  21. I totally understand that the price is a little on the expensive side, but please note that this is for a full day of drag racing for up to 40 vehicles. So if your car is totally unbreakable you can expect a bucket load of runs. I went to WSID a couple of months ago for Wicket Wednesday and only got 4 runs for my $50 and that was no where near enough for me. I'm in the process of obtaining sponsors to assist with reducing the cost of the day and also prizes for specific classess. eg Naturally Aspirated, standard turbo, aftermarket turbo, burnout, top Supra & Skyline etc.... If 40 cars cannot be obtained then the cost will blow out, that's why I need an indication of who might be interested and if you budget $200 just for racing and if we can be assured of 40 cars, then the price will only get cheaper. I now have two dates that are available for this year. Sunday 16 November Sunday 21 December The December date might be too hot for the turbo cars, so I would rather doing this in November if possible. I'll put a post in the NSW section now. Cheers Ross
  22. <<Reserved for interested participants>>

  24. Hi all I thought I would just chip in to this thread. ESP are sponsors of the ACT Supra club but this does not translate to, every member takes their car to them for general servicing and the like. Some of the members live on the other side of town and find it easier for them to take to someone local that they trust. When I bought my latest Supra I did try Trojan for a general service and lets just say that I won't be going back to them in a hurry. This was 4 + years ago. Not to rubbish Trojan though, everyone has had bad experiences with whatever shop you take your car to. It all comes down to who you're comfortable with and who you trust. The first time I had Daniel work on my car was when I destroyed one of my turbos and I was lucky to have a friend that had a Supra that had delt with him before. This was when I decided to get a single put on my car. This happened 3 years ago and now Daniel, Glen and Grant are the only people I trust to work on my car. They know that I'm a dumbass when it comes to mechanical issues and they take the time to explain everything to me. Daniel et al have transformed my car to a standard 177rwkw to a 430rwkw+ Supra that is one of the easiest cars to drive thanks to the safe tune and suggestions for modifications. On a side note: They have told me that they will not be extracting any more power from my car until I get another computer..... Anyway, enough rambling from me, basically go to whomever you are happy with and trust. I've found my mechanic and they have turned into pretty good mates now as well. Ross PS: I'm still looking at organising the Skyline v Supra thing, in particular the drag racing at WSID
  25. There are a couple that are keen pending their cars availability but I think a few interstaters won't be making the trip. I'll try and get you a list by the end of this week and I'll up date it when I get some more punters.
