It can still make that sound with that crossover pipe because it doesnt have a BOV(im pretty sure) that tiny cooler thing isnt really going to effect the compressor surge. If its taken you years to work out what that noise is well you havnt been round very long cause theres normally a thread about it weekly

Correct and it normally only works when you have a less restrictive intake such as a pod filter.

That noise you are reffering to is called compressor surge. It personal choice whether you like it or not but the reason why it makes that noise becasue as you take your foot off the throtle their is no BOV for the air coming from the turbo to ecscape so it goes back out through the turbo making that tsh tsh tsh tsh noise.

Today I saw a black STI with Black rims and it looked nice as. more then half decent to. Even though it was a STI i would still go for it

I think most people would prefer a better all round performance car like a Skyline or Supra. On a track the Supra or Skyline would beat a Vl no questions asked but in a straight line the VL with a few mods ammounting up to the same ammont of a stock Skyline would beat the Supra or Skyline. It depends on what you want the car for. 1 last question, in 5-10 years time will a street driven GTR be capable of times under 10 seconds. Take the Panic VL for instance runs 8.69 on slicks though. VL turbos r stupidly quick for how old they are. My mate at school is like ohh a supra will beat the shit out of that peice of holden crap. Little does he realise the price of his supra could buy me a vl turbo calais and a shit load of mods that could see me absolutely killing his stock supra. A SOHC engine that is 15 plus years old capable of producing 1/4 mile times under 12, 11, 10 and beyond has got to be something worth while. Dont listen to anyone that tells you that they are wankers cause if they had a car like that theyd be making fluttering noises all the time. Thats my 2 cents worth.

Depends if he wants flutter or not. Pod filter will be good fluttering. And im not trying to turn this inot an arguement about fluttering. It happens every week here

Getting money back from my first car is not a concern that I have. All im after is a good first car that is cheap, R31 skyline, and one that I can get sideways in. 2 more questions how much would and RB30 turbo conversion cost and What motor does the Silhouette come with?

the flutter sound in talking about is the one of an external wastegate not a turbo that has an internal wastegate. ANd the blow off valve doesnt make a flutter noise it makes a whoosh sound.

by the time i turn 18 i will have hopefully saved up about 5 grand or maybe a little more and im considering buying an R31 and turn it into my drift machine. I like the look of the Silhoutte (correct spelling?). I have a few questions that maybe someone might be able to help me with. 1. how much will the car set me back I was think somewhere between $1500 and $2500. 2. Does the Silhoutte come with and LSD and 3. Is it worth looking at an RB20DET conversion or a turbo conversion of something simila, preferable a halfcut with the gearbox and ECU and so on. Do you guys think that it would be worth while getting the car when i save up enoguh money, before i turn 18, and then doing it up from there. 1 last thing if there are any mechanics that you know of in the Melb S/E suburbs like FTG and the likes that might take on a 16 yr old to just do some work round cars and learn a bit more it would be appreciated if you lead me in the right direction.
