Removing Front Diff Rb25
sly32 replied to sly32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
nop, not yet, will try and get one start of next week, im actually 100% sure that the rb20 pick up witht he rb25 sump will fit, as i looked at diagrams for the 25 and 20 and the 20 pick p is the same as the 2wd pick up on the 25, all little holes a pre drilled and tapped for the 2wd setup to go onto the block, so a rb25 sump should be a straight fit, fingers crossed, will up date once i know, ( i might have to remove the harmonic balancer as the 20 sump didnt like going on with the balancer getting in the way) will let you know if its the same with the rb25 sump. JV -
4.5k and you have a deal, Cheers
-
Hey, So my RB25det rocked up today, but its a series to from a stagea so its a all wheel drive car, I want to change sumps, i have a rb 20 sump etc..... so what do i do? do i use the rb20 pick up? as the oil feed would come from the same spot wouldnt it?? I believe that stagea oil pick ups are further back in the engine, and wont fit the rb20 sump. any info on how to do this would be great, i need to know by tomorrow arvo, Cheers JV

yeah those fans are nice, i would love to install some but my car stays cool enough, as your in darwin aswell, i would suggest your get a 19row oil cooler, it will drop your water temp 10 degrees so that and a alloy radiator should drop your water temp down below 85

Hey, Just wondering which way the engine cranks looking at it from infront of the car? and if i was to hand crank it over at the harmonic balancer do i crank it the same way? or doesnt it matter? The reason i ask, is i had a perfect running rb20 that i pulled out of a wreck, put it into my car (probably a 2month gap), but on start up it made a bad noise (ended up bending valves in cylinders 2,4 and 5,) so i was thinking with the new engine (rb25) just befre i crank it with the key, to take the rocker covers off and pour oil over both cams and give it about 10 rotations by hand to free everything up (as i thought the valves must of stuck for this to happen?) whats every1 thoughts? Thanks JV (sorry if wrong section)

yeah man, install all 8 of them, big ones on top and small ones down the bottom, it will be awsome, gont worry about the grip or all round settings, it stops axle tramp thats all that matters, iin a way, solid alloy ones nearly always go in with big on top and small on bottom for all 8, JV

Welded Diff....
sly32 replied to joeyjoejoejuniorshabadoo's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah do it, i had 1 in my r32 for 1 and a half years, the only reason i change it is because it start making a annoying noise, but yeah was heaps of fun, people love the chirps in maccas carparks lol, just take a wider turn if cops are around, i never had a problem with them, they hardly ever tell you to do a u-turn to check for welded diffs, and because its a r31, there will be even less police pulling you over, just do it, will be sweet, o tips on welding, i just got some fat sticks for a stick welder, degrease the whole diff, and use a whole stick in each of the 4 holes, just make it look like a lavar flow in the holes, that way you know there will be heaps of weld and it wont break, JV -
Clutch Disengagement Issues.
sly32 replied to 2happy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah man, pressure plate fins could be bent, that stuffs up the gearing, it happened to me and i couldnt get it into any gears, another thing is, can you adjust the clutch anymore at the pedal? like is there more thread that you can screw the thing out with attaches to the pedal? but then again saying that, its not a new clutch and did work didnt it? so im going with stuffed pressure plate, JV -
it shouldnt matter man, rb25 pivot ball wont fit in a rb20 box, the thread size is different, if the pivot ball was broken it would have heaps of movement and not work for any gears, washers isnt going to help anything, if you can change gears no worries in all the other gears except 3rd to 4th, then its nothing to do with your clutch setup at all, its your gearbox, either the syncro is going, or the selector fork inside the gearbox for that gear is stuffed,, so its the gearbox you got, and as u said tb20 gearboxes arnt the best, the are very crunchy when they start to go, 25 gearbox would be the go, hope that helps JV

Hey, I need a series 2 loom for a rb25, im in brisbane, if interstate tell me how much u want for the loom delivered, i need it by tuesday next week, at the very latest, Cheers JV
-
bump guys, need one before the weekend please (in brisbane), if i get 1 before the weekend that would be great, series 2 i would really like, nothing to much over 100,000kms would be good to but timing belt would of had to be done if it was around that mark, have 2 weeks to a drift day and would love to get the car going b4 then, Thanks JV

Good R32 Gtst Short Shifters
sly32 replied to jakez88's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah c's or nismo, c's has shorter throw but i went for nismo, looks like a stock item, and you know its going to work well, from memory nismo is $220 (maybe bit more with shit exchange rate) you can choose between 10% reduce throw and 25% C's is about $300-$350 (reduces throw 30%) from memory, i wouldnt go any other brand then these 2. what do you mean, do you mean a r33 box needs custom mounts to mount in a r32? if so i have already done that, I have a rb20 with a rb25 gearbox, i have modified the gearbox mount as it sits further back so the holes line up, and i have a 1piece customs tailshaft, So When i stick the rb25 engine in, will the gearbox still mount up with my custom mounts? or am i going to have to modify them again>? hope this made it clearer, JV
-
ok so should it stay the same length manual to manual? like ive got a rb20 witha 25box, made the custom mounts already, will the length stay the same for the tailshaft?? cheers JV
-
What i dont get in the first post, is you where saying after putting the rb 25 into you car the tailshaft seemed to long? say 3cm, that means the engine/gearbox would be sitting back 3cm, so the gearbox mounts wouldnt line up? and then you said about the gearstick sitting forward? or somethuing, im really confuised, from the other posts ive read the gearbox should stay the same? im so glad im using my wiring guy to do the loom, does it over night perfect 100% of the time JV

yeah from memory both 2 door and 4 door cages will fit each other, if you look at the size of the front doors from 2 door and 4 door, the 2 door is longer, so if the 2 door cage sits at the pillar it will sit a bit behind the pillar in a 4 door, but will still connect to the wheel arch and then the distance to the dash will be the same as it sits further back, so it should fit 2door and 4door JV
