the tomei rb20det ones have 256 duration and 8.5mm lift
the hks ones rb26dett ones have 256 duration 8.7mm lift
with this cause a problem?
just curious
found this on that link
The RB20 has 240deg - 7.8mm lift intake & 240deg - 7.8mm lift exhaust
The RB26 has 240deg - 8.5mm lift intake & 236deg - 8.2mm lift exhaust
so the 256 degree, 8.7mm lift would be a slight upgrade than a GTR cam
yeah ive seen that but was wondering if the HKS Step 1 256 degree, 8.7mm lift cams would be a good upgrade on the exhaust side.
nengun have them for sale for r32, r33 and r34 GTRs and thought it might be a good upgrade for a rb20det because it wont require any head modification
any info?
have to start of by saying metallica is the best band in the world
secondly, if ur mate a an XR6T you really wont have to spend a lot of money on either a r32 or r33 gtst to beat it. get an exhaust, cooler, fuel pump, injectors (or fuel regulator), chip the ECU and upgrade the turbo and you will hammer him. after all this you will have heaps of money left
and the debate of r32 vs r33 has been going on for ages. it all comes down the personal prefernce
i know ebay has a lot of rip off stuff but what about something like this?
probably too good to be true but worth a look
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...4559741145&rd=1
i remember when "doctor" bought a second hand r34 turbo a few years ago, and it wouldnt have been that old at the time of purchase, ran 12psi and he destroyed it in his r32
just wondering would it be worth spending the extra money to get a good set of cams over a std pair of GTR cams when fitting into a rb20?
will there be a huge differnece between the HKS Step 1 256 degree, 8.7mm lift and standard GTR cams? will boost kick in quicker or doesnt it really matter?
they arent steel wheel. all skyline stock turbos have ceramic exhaust wheels so cant be boosted that high
you will be able to run a little more boost but not alot
putting a r33 or r34 turbo on a rb20 is a cheap upgrade but will max out at about 180-190rwkw
do a search because there is HEAPS of info on this
1989 r32 gtst, 120000kms, bought last year
trust turbo back exhaust, apexi panel filter, slightly lowered, gtr front bat and side skirts,
around $7000 (imported), on the road about $10,500
also came with some rust as an added bonus
im about to do the samt thing
have a VL high flow lined up
can u tell me the specs of the turbo?
also how many PSI are u running and how much power are you getting out of it?
i cant answer your questions sorry but why not go the rb25det? a rb20det in a r33 wouldnt be that special i wouldnt think. pay a little extra and get a heaps better engine
hes 17 years old...he simply cant save up and buy a r32 GTR or a r33. i was in the same situation. i had some money as was really interested in a r32 gtst. however, i wouldnt buy the first car that i looked at. i would look at a few more and see if you can get any better ones. my gtst ended up costing another $1000 to fix up before rego and after the car was land all up it was an extra $3000 or something to get on the road
mine 89 gtst came with those same wheels as the black one. i think they are the original NON m-spec wheels (might be wrong though)
i would get the grey one checked by a mechanic to see if it was in good working order. if it was id take it.
someone did this a while ago, might have been on SDU
the only reason why he did it was because he had a crash and somehow both back quaters were screwed. insurance payed for a bit and het chipped in some more to find GTR rear guards. without the help from insurance there was no way he would have done it because it would have been too expensive
ive done a search but cant find any info
Ive been looking at VL turbos and seen that the high flow version are pretty cheap 2nd hand (t3/4). i know they are older turbos but will this upgrade be worth it?
Will they be too laggy on a rb20?
just wondering if rx7 13b turbo series 4 injectors will fit into an rb20?
i know series 5 do but are series 4 the same?
also will there need to be a lot of modification to fit the fuel rail? its just that its very difficult to find a rb26 resistor pack so im looking at other options
