yeah - hopefully not to much damage to the engine - they appear to have done 40 to 50km in it - up old belair road most likely - joy riding around the bends... either that or simply hunting for some place to park and strip the car. Shannons advised me at the time of insuring that the car with central locking met their criteria and that I would not get any further discounts on the premiums for installing an alarm... I had gathered all the required bits to install my own kill switch on the ignition anyway - but had not had the time to install them... As to an alarm... yeah they would have got around that if I had bought a cheap one as the first thing after smashing my window that they did was remove the battery leads... - cheap ones do not tend to have battery back up. Either way if I do not sell the car once fixed I will definitely be investing in a vew extra "devices"!

yes - to bad so far away... did you just "drive past" or did you actually stop long enough to see how close they looked to mine - or better still had you actually popped in and noticed them? Just weighing up if it is worth popping in to check them out.

Where is Japco located? EDIT: - Torrens Rd, Woodville - Is this them?

Thread on my forum - click here Life is just peachy at the moment - some losers decided to steal my car early morning on "GOOD Friday". (Mitcham area) Got it back in less than 12 hours but in less than original condition. Car was found out the back of St John's Church 337 Main Road Coromandel Valley. They also Stole my neighbours black R33 manual S2 skyline (Billy / William P's) at the same time and took his double din touch screen 7" stereo - but they dumped his car just around the corner and came back for mine... Billy does not know yet as he is on holidays! Stupid cowards stole my kids new Twin screen DVD player for long trips in the car. Whom ever steals from the mouths of babes deserves to be beaten to a pulp - which if I had heard them smash my drivers side window (right outside my bedroom - the balls!) I would have happily done! That had to have known as I have a foam child seat and a babies seat in the back. Selfish wankers! All up the car was found with: Smashed Drivers side window Sitting on paver's with all four wheels stolen ( 18" Manaray Sport Vertec VR5 Gold + polished Chrome alloy wheels with Bridgestone Potenza GII tires) Damaged Disk break surrounds - when they just dropped it onto bricks after getting the wheels off My MP4 player stolen My MP3 playing FM transmitter with a 4GB USB Pen stolen My Cigarette lighter to 3 outlet + USB power adaptor stolen My Mini Mag-light from in my dash stolen The kids Twin 7" DVD player Stolen Kit was damaged My Stearing column damaged My Key barrel ripped out and damaged Shattered the Ignition Barrel The stereo was partially removed - they must have been interrupted Damaged several center console bits when attempting to remove stereo Scraped rear bumper Damaged the front bar and side skirts of my kit Wish they had burnt it cos it is going to be more trouble than it is worth now - having to hunt down the insurance on these bits Insurance excess $250 (possibly + $500 as it is a turbo - not sure on the not at fault theft side of things) And if the car insurance does not cover the contents then I may have to try and claim it under house insurance so another $250 odd excess... or simply right them off completely... "See pics here" <EDIT - correcttion on Wheel type - 18" Manaray Sport Vertec VR5 Gold + polished Chrome alloy wheels with Bridgestone Potenza GII tires> My wheels: If anyone hears anything on the grape vine - or sees someone either trying to sell these or with these on their car please let me know - I would love to pay them a visit! The wheel and tire combo would be unique as they are the tires that came with the wheels from Japan - so if you see the combo - you will know they are mine.

How do you think the Sigma 530 DG Super compares to the Canon 430EX? Better? as they are about the same price from bh. The 530 on the surface appears to be closer to the 580EX II without the full TTL auto support though which may be something I need whilst learning. If I was not going to be using the master slave wireless features for some time - is there any other major benefit to the 580 over the 430 when using a 40D? Reason for asking is Dpreview.com states: External flash • In-camera flash configuration (currently only 580 EX II) * Now what benefits does it give you have an "in-camera flash config"? Better Auto results? less need for manual intervention? Other differences noted: The 580 is 15m's better at 105mm 190' (58 m) at 105mm 141' (43 m) @ 105mm Of concern though is that the 580 is a slower flash - the built in 40D flash - whilst being next to useless at distance shots can fire extremely rapidly... Also the 430 is faster 3.7 Seconds (based on alkaline batteries & full power) 2 Seconds (based on NiMH batteries & full power) compared to 580: 6 Seconds in normal mode (based on fresh alkaline batteries & full power) 3 Seconds in rapid mode (based on fresh alkaline batteries & full power) hmmm also the 580 has a better Auto set up by the looks: Auto Distance Range Full TTL at all apertures Auto f/Stops Full TTL at all apertures And has a better vari power range going to 1/128th compared to 1/64th Ok now I am confused - spend more for a potentially more compatible flash (?? based on dpreviews comment) that is slower, or spend less on a faster lens that may need more manual intervention at this stage than my knowledge could offer? 430EX / 530 DG Super or 580EX II (bh sells these for $460 at the current exchange rate inc del) Thoughts?

oh BTW - any suggestions on best place to buy the sigma flash? I have not heard of it before. My main aim with the 580EXII is that the 40D has built in support - so I am hoping it will be able to handle most of the setting automatically when needed and leave me to play with the advanced settings when time permits.

Yeah I have 2 kids and 18mm as a wide angle is amazing - kids tend to walk towards you when you take photos not away so wide angle works well. Amazing how with 18mm you kid can stand right in front of you and yet you still can capture all of him and some of the surroundings as well... (starts to get even more worried about the 24mm not being wide enough )

Hello all, Just recently added a new lens to my set up and have decided that a decent flash is the next thing on my shopping list. Unless someone can recommend a better flash for similar money I am now chasing the 580EX II Has to be 'II' as my 40D has in built support for that flash only. Or so I read at dpreview.com My Rig: Canon 40D 70-200mm F/4 L USM 24-105mm F/4 L IS USM (to replace my crappy kit lens - 18-55mm) Hopefully 24mm is wide enough still though (crosses fingers). So I Need a flash. Can any suggest a good place to buy one? Or have one to sell or trade? (I have a brand new 350D with kit lens 18-55mm that has only been taken out of the box to test (was supposed to be a 400D) - comes with wireless remote, basic external flash, carry bag, 1GB CF, all the original manuals, CD's and boxes etc - all in Mint condition) At this stage I have found them being sold new on eBay for $500 delivered from an AU source - but if you can offer better or suggest better then please let me know. d-d-photographics offers them for closer to $600 inc delivery. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller...v#goto_itemInfo Has them for around the $470 to $480 mark delivered depending on what our ozzie dollar does in the next few days (and if customs hits yo with import tax) Thanks in advance.

Wtb Stagea Rims With Tyres
ShadowKnyght replied to Birth's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I have a set of these with brand new tyres - as I just got my car down from QLD - and now have my 18" back on. Only problem is I am in SA! The tyres alone cost me $500 so I would be looking upwards of that. -
The Dolphin kit is massively low - even stock suspension is not enough to raise it to legal height My TEIN HR fronts where also not enough with the collars adjusted to full height - I had to add some spacers (fat arse washers) to mine to get a legal height. As to ride comfort - they are fine - my ride got far worse when I put back on my 18" deep dish gold and chrome rims (Vertec VR5 Manaray Sports) with 40 rubber... amazingly enough the road noise was also far worse with the 18" directional Bridgestone pretenzas that where on them than what I was getting from my factory wheels with cheep Ozzie tyres on them (Talon sports from Triangle??) - far, far louder!! One thing I will recommend as a must for this kit - eye lids on the headlights - takes away the big arse square look that they have! To bad you are in a different state - I have now sitting as spares: Front and rear stock suspension Stock exhaust Stock S2 stagea rims with brand new tyres And unfortunately due to ADR rules - My HID headlights are cut rudely out of my car and sitting in a plastic bag! BTW - to go way off topic - this is awesome!
-
we are so offtopic here but... I always allow $600 to $1000 for body damage touch ups - trucking and shipping are nasty things to do to a car with a kit (even without my last R33 cost be $700 to repair damage caused during shipping) Then maybe $200 to $600 for mechanical work to get it standard - if you can't do it yourself - I have my car - but with the kit fitted it is just to low with the stock suspension - So I am going to have to refit the adjustable TEIN suspension that came with the car - and raise them. But first I spent three days reconditioning them as they where rusty and the collars on 3 of them where ceased. Then I have to refit the front bar and most likely take off the side skirts to get it through regency - along with taking off my BOV and swapping my R33 standard parts in. I also need to work out why my horn does not work? Also after regency - I will have to refit the BOV, the side skirts, the 18" rims, my turbo gauge, and my HID headlights, might lower her a little again! Bloody compliance cut out ( really savagely) my HID lights - and replaced with cheap arse standards! And from what I understand HID lights are rather expensive! BTW - you may find that they might have to remove your front bar to ship your car to you!
-
you can add at least another $2,500 to that price then to cover: $462 for tyres $1000 for unkowns $180 + for stamp duty on first reg $180 for 3 months rego Possibly some extra $$ for trucking any non-standard parts down separate to the car... A few hundred to get stock parts hired for taking over the pits after compliance unless you have your own or get it complied in the same state. (wheels, exhaust, suspension etc) But still very nice car - to bad it is only series I and not the SII 200+ KW neo engine!
-
ahh - so you bought the silver one then? Have you got it yet? What do the wheels look like in Real life? they look pretty cool in the pictures
-
Sorry - is that better?? Not being paid at all - and there was no link just a banner I scabbed from his eBay page - all gone now sorry bouts that is that seemed a bit to much - just letting people know!
-
Well I bought one... Just hope it is that much better than the 350D with the 18-55mm kit lens I had before... Ok So I bit the bullet - after my bad experience with a couple of Sellers at DHgate , I pulled my head in for a while - watching the prices of the 400D twin lens kits drop more and more... But I could not resist the 40D... The problem is - with a higher end DSLR - one can't just own kit lenses - oh no - that would just not do... So I looked at a few options... and settled on 2... The 70-300mm F/4-5.6 IS USM (retails from $1000+ but Camera house has one at $695 last time I went to the market) And the 70-200mm F/4 L USM (retails in excess of $1000 - eBay's lowest is $700 slightly used or from HK) Now the IS (built in image stabilization - essential for full zoom shots when not using a tripod) would have been nice as would have the extra 100mm of zoom - but this lens's image quality is only just a little better than the kit lenses (75-300mm F/4-5.6 III and the slightly better 75-300mm F/4-5.6 III USM) targeted at the more main stream retail customer... and I just could not think of settling for that.... :? So instead I looked for the cheapest 'L' Lens I could find with a decent zoom range - I came across a number of very good reviews on the 70-200mm F/4L lens and although it does not have the full zoom capabilities it has a F/4 rating across its' entire zoom range (means it is better for inside / darker shots) and is supposed to produce far better images - much crisper. Plus everyone knows that a white lens on a camera means a pro is looking down the barrel I only wish I could have afforded an EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM but at $2400 to $4000 depending on where you buy it - I think not! Kit Contents Canon 40D Digital SLR Camera Body Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM Lens Extra Battery 2 x LCD Protector (one for use, one as a spare) Wireless Remote Camera Cleaning Kit Hoya UV filter 3 years total warranty $2,446 I bought this through a guy in QLD. So far Ben has been very good to deal with - he takes the time to email you back with full responses to all your questions, is helpful and offers suggestions as well as the human element you seem to fail to find with most sellers now-a-days. On his customer service alone I would recommend him! I just hope he comes through where DHgate failed me. Then I really have to get off my butt and do something with this camera to make the investment worth while! wish me luck!

Yep - compliment - always the best way to back away from having one's comments taken the wrong way by the opposite sex - walk slowly backwards toward the nearest exit - saying nice things - when you get to the door - run like hell - ducking and weaving now and then to make the back of your head a harder target to hit!
-
Going way off topic here Allure - the only comment I would make about your forum is you should restrict the size of all your sigs - makes it hard to actually read the contents of the threads - most of you have those massive banners plus text underneath and when a one line post goes up you almost miss it! But hey I am just a blind old man - and you guys appear to have put a fair bit of effort into your banners so... feel free to ignore the suggestion - I am just being male!
-
true! she is nice! Ummmm You did? - I can still see all the pics! <EDIT> Oooh - I see - you made the album private... but that does not hide all of the pics already hot linked to... BTW - A few nice skylines on that cruise but the best car there was the 1992 GTO Twin turbo with the <Sulk> P plate in the window!! Followed closely by that silver skyline. But to tell the truth I was not that clever - I obviously have zero practice at stalking... I only found your photobucket album after DRD mentioned stalking! Only then did I realize it was not a random image shack url but actually contained your albums url as well! I had found that first pick of you from your allure forums post a pic of yourself thread! Not a bad little forum that. BTW - Feruh and Janeen (sp?) are cute
-
hey is some one pruning this thread?? I just got a stack of update emails that had stuff in it that is not in the thread??
-
hahaha hmmm guys what do you think - should I?? BTW - you have control of the source so could actually kill the pic from your end (hint, hint! )
-
Your pride has nothing to worry about - you take a pretty good pic! Amazing what you can find with a quick search on the net! I wouldn't complain about having a GF on my arm that looked like you - blond or Brunette your shots looked fine! I would not worry about what these little puppies think. As long as your BF appreciates you - all is good! And BTW - before any of you jump in - I am not sucking up to her! I be married with a 2 year old and a 4 year old... even though I still act like a 12 year old myself... You know when you are a kid and you think one day I will grow up and become and adult... well - I am still waiting for that day!
-
Post your picture if you dare - and see how these little kiddies judge!? Personally I don't see what they are complaining about half of them are probably still in diapers and yet to kiss a girl outside of their mum or sister! And yes that was intentional flame bait! BTW Jessica is cute: These girls are ok as well - note the dancer again
-
I thought this chic was very nice - something different about her facial features - I took a few shots of her at the Adelaide one as well
-
No more so how it frames the extra smaller lights, and has a more scoop like base section - more angular - and those extra holes... they just do something to the final impression... but that is down to taste - others may prefer the smoother lines of the dayz bar without the extra holes... Aside from that there is not a huge difference between the two kits. - At least with the Dayz you can mount the number plate in the middle! Although that does block a lot of the air flow to your intercooler - if you had one. And no I don't have the car just yet so for all I know I may get it and go - holy f'k that is an ugly kit!
