i think this may be a common problem with cefiro's, i tore(spelling) mine aswell and at the time read up about a couple of others that had the same happen. it ended up being cheaper and stronger to remove the cradle, cut the sides off and have new side mounts made and welded onto the original cradle.

Mr Eps, is there actually ceffy shells for $300 in NSW? id be pretty interested in something like that, if i can find the space to keep it. I actually sold my cefiro this morning, only took me a week and no low ballers so i was pretty happy with the outcome.

lol, well if you have a lot of mods i wouldnt recommend TIC, i think i paid about 280 to have mine engineered as a standard car(for change of rego), so my certificate doesnt include my mods which were fitted to the car when it was engineered and regoed. i think cc's engineer sounds far more cost effective if you have mods though, (when im not at work i can post up a list of $$ per mod to have engineered through TIC which they gave me incase i want to have it done in the future, but it was at a very high cost from memory) at the time other engineers wouldnt look at my car and i couldnt register on SAU to get some advice so i paid the extra for the convenience...

I spoke to a few engineers when just changing my rego to nsw rego, the only one willing to even take a look at my car was TIC(transport industry consultants) at kirrawee, they were more expensive then the others as they charge per modification they check. But it was done 2 days after i first spoke to them and i had the paper work 2 working days later.. which was worth the extra money in my opinion. there phone number is 02 95450823

Seatbelts don't wind no more.. what belts can I use?
matt25 replied to someonestolecc's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
try pressing the release button if it just happens occasionaly, i was trying for 5 minutes to get the passenger seatbelt to retract once, then just pressed the button and it zoomed up, felt a bit stupid after that, i dunno how it worked or if it was just coincidence? electronic?? -
Peoples Experience with "the pits" aka rta inspection site
matt25 replied to Russkie's topic in New South Wales
are you going to just have the car checked to see if its numbers are correct and match etc? vin and engine, chassis etc?? if so they wont defect you there, i know someone that works for the rta on a car reburthing unit. he checks the numbers to see if there stolen etc, and for signs of reburthing(spelling). He tells storys of things like a mirage with a evo engine that are un engineered etc, but all they care about is that its not stolen.. so if your having it checked out like i think you are you should be right. -
it was a different one too DRF700(saw it on saturday).. so wasnt replicate.. maybe a random??

I think this is all rediculous... It doesn't effect me as im not a p plater but i think their are just too many new laws being placed on everyone lately, clothing, language, where we can be at certain times, what cars we can drive, whats going to be next? (people should get to be who they want not what there told to be, even if that means theres some idiots, atleast we wont all be puppets) I think tax payers money can be used much more wisely to bring back some health care then on highway patrol complaining that an exhaust is too loud. just my opinion..

to get the boss kit off, take the fat nut in the middle off then screw the steering wheel back on to the boss kit and use the steering wheel to pull the boss kit off, should come off easy. very tidy car, hope you enjoy it and she treats you well.

My bonnet latch works from inside the car but is really dodgy. To open the bonnet the lever needs to be pulled so hard the whole dash moves and im worried that sooner or later the cables going to snap... Anyone encounted this before? howed you fix it? i thought just wd 40 on the latch but wasnt sure if it would be the latch itself or the friction on the whole cable or at the lever end inside the car.. ill try wd40 a little later. thanks (car is a 89 cefiro if that helps)

i think confiscating peoples licence is a good idea with large penalties for driving without a lisence. my opinion is that police should focus more on dangerous driving(which would include speeding) then just speeding though, there are a lot of people that drive within the speed limit dangerously (changing lane to lane continually and going up on medium strips before realising there all over the road) although it would be harder to dectect/inforce dangerous driving then speeding. Police should also think to themselves weather there actually helping keeping people safe or just trying to make revenue or discriminate before pulling someone over.

Saw a nice R34 4 door last night coming up the highway between wollongong and sydney at about 7. Red with a bodykit and chrome wheels, and fairly low. 'MYR.344' plates. the rear lights were pretty bright, looked like they may have been replaced with new LED's or something..

temp reading ceffy runs on a hot n humid day?
matt25 replied to jeromeA31's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
i dont have the stock guage hooked up, but mine runs consistently at about 80 degrees most days, if its a really hot day goes upto 90 degrees. just above halfway should be fine if its not still going up, just worry when it approaches the red or doesnt stop going up -

new springs in old coilovers?
matt25 replied to matt25's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
thanks for the help sydneykid, i just went to eastcoast, they told me the bearings at the top were worn and causing the springs to not turn freely, so im having new camber/castor adjustable tops fitted which come with new bearings, -
My suspension has a clunking noise when i turn the steering wheel. my mechanic says its because the 2 springs in the one coilover (1 short hard spring and a second larger softer spring) have come apart. He suggested pulling the front coilovers out, taking them to east coast suspension and fitting new springs to the old front coilover assemblies. is this the best idea? has anyone else dealt with this differently? i dont want to go through the expense of replacing the whole coilover. thanks for the help

1. nissan gazelle (too much oversteer but some fun) 2. 91 sw20 MR2 with a few mods 3. twin cam AE82 corolla hatch (maybe my favorite) 4. vr commodore s (i regret ever buying this, i feel sorry for anyone that drives one) 5. cefiro with some mods (the most fun of all, hope too keep it for a long time) -
a few of my friends have 86's and love them but id never trade my cefiro in for a 86, its easier to get more power out of a cefiro then a sprinter. youd have to do a engine swap (20 valve, sr20) or a turbo conversion to get the 86 really going, it sounds like youd be interested in drifting from your choice of car. in general the sprinter would be better on a tighter track with its lower weight while the cefiro would be better on a more open track with more power. cefiro has power options and power steering over the sprinter plus 4 door convenience.. sprinter is cheaper initially, in parts and petrol, if you want a drifter on a budget go the sprinter, otherwise head for the cefiro. just dont rush into buying either one till your certain, both are fun cars, decide what you want out of a car and go from there.
