Okay, I just removed my instrument cluster because my Speedometer and Odomoter dont work. Is there anyway I can try fixing it myself? My main concern is fixing the speedometer because I think it may possibly be the reason my power steering stopped working. Is it possible that a broken speedometer (the needle sits on 0km/h) could cause loss of power steering? Thanks.

Yeh, that one looks the same as mine, Trust MX muffler. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...topic=95196&hl= I dont know if I'd call it a cannon but anyway.

Heavy Steering After Doing Donuts

C'mon people I need some help! lol I'd take it to my mechanic but he's flat-out till Monday and there's no Power Steering specialists nearby. Is there anyway to tell if it is just the pump? -
Does anyone from Tamworth know any of the Evans family?

How do you guys afford such nice cars?!
cogs replied to Jaxe's topic in General Automotive Discussion
hahaha  I saved up $17,000 for my NA R33 (Car was only $12,000) with casual employment at a supermarket. I hate my job but at least I have a decent first car to show for it. -
I bought a Trust muffler from a guy (on these forums) in South Brisbane but that was a few weeks ago and mine is stainless steel. BTW, what's an R33 GTS-R? Make a wanted to buy thread if you havent already. I'm sure someone will be willing to give/sell you theirs. I've got my stock muffler sitting in the garage but was hoping to hang onto it. If you can't find anyone willing to sell theirs let me know and I'll consider letting go of mine because I know I'd hate to have my muffler stolen, thats f**ked! Try and find a pic of your stolen muffler so people know what to look out for. Hope you get it back buddy!

Heavy Steering After Doing Donuts

I had a look at the TPS and it looked fine, but what connections should I be looking at exactly? How does TPS affect power steering not working? Skylines have variable P/S assist don't they, but doesn't the P/S constantly get pumped around (ie you can see it moving in PS resorvoir) regardless of throttle input? Wouldn't the variable P/S be controlled by a speed input anyway? Also I just ran the car for a bit to make sure the power steering still wasn't working and had a look under the car for P/S leaks and noticed fluid leaking from the exhaust flanges? I got a cat-back exhaust put on recently and it's leaking from the new flange joins. Is my car running rich or is it just water? I imagine if fluid is leaking then so are exhaust gases? It's not leaking heaps just a slow drip. Could any of these problems be related? Like if the TPS is causing the P/S problem I imagine it could be causing over-fuelling and hence the fluid leaking from the exhaust? Please forgive my noobness with car problems. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! -

Heavy Steering After Doing Donuts

Can anyone help me? I'm guessing I've probably stuffed my P/S pump from holding it on full-lock too long. They don't like that do they? I'll get my mate to have a look at it when he finishes work cause he just replaced the one in his WRX but I was hoping someone could tell me some things to check now. The P/S fluid is full and no sign of leaks, hoses all seem fine (well the ones I can see), P/S belt seems to be running fine, no noises but the fluid in the P/S resorvoir is just sitting still and not being pumped around like you can usually see. Does that sound like it would just be the pump not working? The steering is REALLY heavy and hard to turn. -

Yes Tein suspension is good. My mate recently got Tein coilovers for his R33, cost him $700 for a used set. I think they're worth like $2k new? -

I just had a look under the bonnet with the engine on and the power steering fluid in the resorvoir is just sitting there and not being pumped around like it usually does?? All the belts are running fine etc and I couldn't hear any abnormal noises. I've had a bit of a look around the front wheels, under the car and under the bonnet but cant see anything out of the ordinary? What should I check/look for? -
I was doing some donuts tonight (well as best as my 4wd NA skyline does lol) and then I drove off and noticed the steering was really heavy. I pulled over and checked the power steering pump which seemed to be working fine and didn't look like it had lost any fluid. It took a 3-point turn in a wide street to turn around (cause I didnt wanna go through the roundabout ahead incase I couldn't turn enough). I got the car home but the steering wheel takes heaps more effort to turn and doesn't seem to want to turn very far (only just made the turn into my driveway). I'll have another look now but just thought I'd see if someone knew what it would be, if it's just the power steering isn't working or if it's something more severe. Thanks in advance.

look familiar?

Yeh shorty, from the cat back it's 2.5" piping which meets the piping which was already on the muffler (which the guy at the exhaust shop said was actually only 2 1/4"). You can see in the pic below the section of piping that was already on. In my other post with all the pics you can see my stock exhaust, all of that piping (cat-back) was replaced.

Sounds good man put up some pics tomorrow and some sound files if you can. Angled exhausts look hot

BUMP Who would I see about getting this done? Just a metal fab place to make up the 'mounting plate' and then take it to get engineered? thanks
-
Thanks for the replies guys. It cost me $240 all up (not including petrol money to drive to brisbane and back haha). $150 for the muffler (used) and $90 to get it fitted + 2.5" piping. I think I got a good deal Thanks to Jon (n15m0) for selling me the muffler.

Some WAV files of my new exhaust. 2.5" catback with a Trust MX muffler. BTW In the 'upstreet' one the noise when I change from first to second is just the passenger door locking at 25km/h. One of the pics shows the outline of a "Legalis" sticker which must've been on the car at some stage. Isn't that a type of exhaust? It had the stock exhaust when I bought it (as seen in pics below). na_r33_idle.wav na_r33_rev.wav na_r33_upstreet.wav na_r33_stopsign.wav

Trust Mx Stainless Steel Muffler
cogs replied to n15m0's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hey mate, still for sale? I'm very interested! Can pick-up! Will it bolt on to stock NA R33 exhaust system? Even if I have to get 2.5" piping from cat-back to fit it (was thinking of doing this anyway), I'm still very interested!! -
lol TUFF MUFF  Is there anywhere in aus you can get extractors like Fujitsubo or whatever to suit skylines (not custom made)?

get a job mate, get rid of that excel! j/k I've got GTA:SA on PS2 and I haven't played it for a while so I'm not sure what % I've done but I'm up to the first mission on the 3rd island. I'm not gonna go over to Las Venturas yet until I finish a few other things in San Fierro (like photo ops) and even Los Santos (havent gone over all the other gang tags for one). The last thing I remember doing to waste time (instead of doing missions) was doing up cars at Wheel Arch Angels. I can't answer your question for GTA:SA, but when I finished the last mission in GTA3 I stopped playing the game cause I couldn't be f**ked doing all the little missions etc which make up the 100%, thats why with San Andreas I'm trying to finish all the side missions on the first two islands before I move on to Las Venturas. Either way, it's given me hours upon hours of entertainment, I think it's an awesome game. BTW, have you noticed those cars (forget the name) that look like R32s (with no spoiler and with R34 tail-lights)? And ones that look like 180SX, Supra, 300ZX etc? Or is it just me? lol

^^do they make bolt-on systems for NA skylines?
